the New York Knicks are embarrassing the NBA and I think nobody realizes what this team is doing from defense to offense they’re gearing up massive changes and bold moves is what’s ahead of the Knicks this off season the NBA hates what the New York Knicks are doing and that’s what we’re going to talk about in this video I think this would be the best move for the Knicks this off season here’s why Bridges has a good contract is a strong Defender and can shoot well off the dribble he’s very efficient especially with good players around him having Brunson Randall and bridges together would create one of the best trios in the NBA and in Nick’s history this could be enough to win a championship plus Bridges has a strong connection with Brunson diven chenzo and Josh Hart since they won a national championship together at Villanova Bridges is 27 and will be 28 in August so he’s entering his prime they probably haven’t seen his best yet he averaged 27 points per game after the trade deadline last season with great efficiency but his performance dropped in the second half because the Nets weren’t playing competitive basketball they were out of playoff contention so Bridges wasn’t motivated to play his best sure in two years he’ll have an expiring contract in the 20126 off season he’ll get a big payday he’s eligible for an extension in October but he likely won’t take it because he can get more if he waits if he joins the Knicks they’d be in a strong position to compete for a championship he’d also be playing with with some of his best friends making it an ideal situation for the Knicks for the Nets there are two ways to look at it the Knicks have a lot of draft picks not only their own but also from three other teams they have picks 24 and 25 so they could offer the Nets two first round picks in this draft buan bogdanovich for celery and more first round picks on top of that however the Nets were already offered five first round picks from another team so they might not go for it now plus the Knicks and Nets haven’t traded with each other since 1983 but the Knicks and Raptors did make a significant trade this season sending Emanuel quickly and RJ Barrett for OG auni so there’s some precedent for big trades overall I expect the Knicks to make a trade but not this off season likely at the trade deadline right now who is available Mikel Bridges is a valuable player but he’s not on the market the Nets have made it clear they see him as a co-star if they can build around however this could change if the Nets have another poor season losing 50 plus games for three straight Seasons they might reconsider the Knicks just need to be patient and resilient which has been their strength they reached the second round we’re one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals and won 50 games while it wasn’t a championship winning season as Jaylen Brunson pointed out it still shows progress the Knicks have been patient in building their team Brunson Randall and Josh Hart have been key players trading IQ and RJ who they might lose anyway for OG and unabi could be beneficial Isaiah hartenstein was a solid pickup and getting McBride in the second round was smart Quinton Grimes a late first round pick showed potential but couldn’t consistently deliver looking at their team they’ve built it methodically adding Mel Bridges could be the final piece that pushes them to the next level I know many Nicks fans think they shouldn’t trade for a star player and should keep building with what they have however if they don’t try to improve they’ll fall behind because every other team is actively trying to get better if the Knicks stay healthy with OG hardenstein and the current roster and bring back Buon who is guaranteed $17 million and shoots about 40% from three every season they have a strong chance to compete with anyone but consider this the Celtics added Chris Taps porzingis and Drew holiday in the off season and now they’re one game away from winning the NBA Finals by the time you’re listening to this they might have already won the championship if the Knicks can add a few more pieces without sacrificing too much depth they’ll be in a great position the ideal scenario would be acquiring M Bridges the best case scenario would be getting him without giving up Julius Randall realistically though the only way the Knicks might land bridges is by trading Randall although I have a lot of faith in Randall and wouldn’t trade him for many players Bridges is one exception Bridges fits perfectly on a championship team he doesn’t need the ball is a good Defender can play Pickin role and shoots efficiently off the dribble he already has chemistry with three of their players Brunson D chenzo and Josh Hart Brunson and Devon chenzo are starters and Hart filled in as a starter due to injuries as did dant chenzo at the start of the season if they were to get Bridges they’d potentially have both OG and nuni and bridges on the perimeter defending these are two players who can score between 177 to 25 points a night we’ve seen Bridges perform well even if he’s not a number one option on a championship team he can still step up and win games as the lead scorer now he could be the number two behind Jaylen Brunson or even the number three behind Julius Randall I don’t see the Knicks trading Randall Buon and multiple picks for Bridges however if the Nets make bridges available the Knicks have the most picks to offer and can match salary with Buon so it’s worth considering a team like the Houston Rockets with the third overall pick might be tough competition there are reports that the Rockets are looking to trade that pick for a player like Bridges or Donovan Mitchell if they offer the third pick it would be hard for the Knicks to match that still Bridges would be a great fit for their team and could Elevate them the Knicks should definitely check in if Bridges becomes available and I imagine they would but aside from that the Nets seem to be stuck in a tough spot cam Thomas is eligible for an extension and Nick Claxton is an unrestricted free agent the 2025 offseason could give the Nets a lot of cap space to build a roster but they’ve had two straight Seasons with over 50 losses brid’s value will only decrease since he has two years left on his deal many teams want M Bridges not just because of his play but also because he’s on a team-friendly contract making about $23 million a year a player with his scoring and defensive abilities should be earning between $35 to $40 million a year it might sound high but Bridges is that good he’s one of the most valuable players in basketball and any championship team that adds him will get significantly better if the Knicks were to acquire Bridges it would be akin to the Celtics getting Drew holiday or Chris Taps porzingis right we’ve seen the impact those Acquisitions can have in my view the Knicks are probably just two pieces away from contending for a championship they might not necessarily need Mel Bridges perhaps they could Target players like Kyle kozma or even Kelly UB Jr along with another High Caliber role player someone like well someone who can really contribute if Brunson Julius Randall and their key players continue to improve and if players like Hart dant chenzo hardenstein and OG maintain their playoff consistency adding a couple more solid bench pieces could make all the difference if the Knicks had been fully healthy against the the Celtics I believe that series could have gone to seven games it might even have been the toughest series the Celtics faced even without key players like Randall Mitchell Robinson and Buon if they had Brunson and others it still would have been competitive but now with OG defending players like Tatum and brown and Brunson potentially being the best player on the court they have players like Hart and divon chenzo who can win games for them we’ve seen Josh Hart’s clutch performances like his game-winning three against the 76ers and his key shots in other games divon chenzo has shown he can explode for big scoring nights like his 40-point game against Indiana these are the types of players who can turn a series around in a hurry the Knicks are a team that comes at you without fear unlike the Pacers who seemed intimidated by the Celtics the Knicks led by Jaylen Brunson approach every game believing they can win on the road and handle business it was disappointing that the Knicks were all black in game six against the Pacers and lost decisively but it shows the confidence and Leadership Brunson wants to instill in the team do I think the Knicks will trade for M Bridges absolutely not but do I think he would be the perfect fit for this roster yes to me he would
