The REAL reason why OG Anunoby is becoming an unrestricted free agent

OG will sign back with the Knicks.

The source comes from New York-based writer, Tommy Beer, who has covered the NBA for over 15 seasons.

It is interesting to see if the 5th year is in play for a guy like OG.

  2. Thank you for this. It def paints a clearer picture especially after the Pascal news.

You gotta pay him, bottom line. Leon knows it.

  4. I really think somebody may offer the 181. 160 is going to be the minimum here. Idk why they would low ball it.

how is this news? we’ve known he was declining his option since we signed him

obviously he’s not going to choose to make ~$15M less than he’s able to

the shitposting on here these days is crazy

there were legit posts about his UFA status in january. can’t you go find pictures of josh’s wine collection or some shit? anything

The noise about OG coming here was that he’d take a home town discount but looking at those numbers, I’d change my tune as well lol

  7. Gator1508

lol all the dumbass here thinking he is taking some discount to stay in NY….

  8. Accomplished_Power_3

Yeah it’s all BS. OG was always declining his player option from day 1. Deal is done already just waiting for the 30th I guess

Ignoring OG’s situation specifically, what would the benefit be of a player singing the amended veteran extensions instead of just hitting unrestricted free agency?

Knicks should use the 5th year as a sweetener, especially for a guy like OG that has had injury issues. So if another team can offer 4/181, offer him 5/200, less AAV but more guaranteed money.

This is all Wizards fault for spending 120 mil on fucking Poole

5 yr/45m was always the number. For some reason people thought he’d resign for less then 40m per year.

  13. He’s not getting a 5 year max.

He also isn’t signing the 29M extension.

He’s opting because he knows the Knicks will give him something along the 30-35M a year.

We only lost like a handful of games with him in the starting lineup. Need to pay him

Tommy Beer is not a plugged in source. He knows nothing.

I hope we pay this man and I pray he stays healthy. If the Knicks win a ring in the next 5 years it’ll be worth it.

If he walks this is detrimental in so many ways. We lose our best defender and we gave up assets in order to do so. We need to sign him.
