Kyrie was using his 2016 ring as an emphasis that he knows what it takes to win

It was incredible to say this about a team that was a 4th quarter run away from winning a game 7 and going to the finals while Kyrie was away from the team and pouting that they didn’t actually need him or Hayward to be a successful squad.

Kyrie is an amazing talent and aesthetically incredible to watch. He’s also a terrible role model and an atrocious mentor.

Now, both Jaylen and Jayson have more playoff games played than him and as many rings as him. Fuck him

I hope that crow tastes good on Kyrie’s plate

Cryrie is congratulating himself on mentoring the Js, clearly they would not have know how to win without his inspired leadership

It feels like everyone but Celtics fans have forgotten exactly why Kyrie was so hated when he left here. The national broadcast kept acknowledging that Celtics fans saw Kyrie as a villain, but would never actually explain why other than that he used to play for the Cs.

Won a ring riding LeBron’s coattails. Now he’s still trying to learn the lessons he said the Jays needed to learn. (Spoiler: They did.) It’s beautiful, really

What sucks is, Kyrie has learned, and will learn, absolutely nothing from any of this. He says all the right things – and if you’re not paying attention it can even seem sincere – but he is the textbook definition of a pseudo intellectual. People like him believe they have all the answers and as a result they never learn. It’s why he still can’t play in Boston (another mental block I’m not sure he’ll ever overcome.) He’s still in that honeymoon phase with Dallas, but I expect he’ll burn that bridge soon enough like he has everywhere else he’s ever played.
Kyrie has all the talent in the world, but it’s wasted when you pair it with his ten cent head.

Kyrie milking the fuck out of a ring he got purely because he was carried by the second best player ever.

And he wasn’t the mentor to show them what it takes. He was still preoccupied with proving himself outside of Lebron’s shadow. He tried to son the Jays but they outgrew him and his selfishness. Under his wing, the Jays don’t become the admirable, wise, humble champions they are today. That said, Kyrie has also since matured and become one of my favorite players, but I sense he’s still in denial about just how much of a problem he was in that locker room

He was probably correct at the time (and I hate Kyrie)

This didn’t age poorly. It was apt from the time it was said right up until last offseason, and the Jays didn’t elevate their games to become champions. The front office gave them the help they needed to get over the hump.

I agree with Kyrie. In 2019 that was the case. Fast forward to today, they have grown and shown they know exactly what it takes to win it all.
Key-Cryptographer903
To be fair that was in 2019 and as we saw from 2019-2023 they did not know what it takes. Did we forget how in 2023 they played down to their comp in every series? 2023 was the learning lesson that taught them what it took and it has translated in 2024.

So glad we never had to pay this guy again

Totally off subject but apparently Kyrie a blood

Everyone need a dad to win a ring. Kyrie had daddy James and we had dad of the year AL

First of all, neither does Kyrie. He only succeeded on the back of others, mainly LeBron. He’s done nothing since and frankly embarrassed himself this year, especially with the fake apologies. He might be the most overrated star ever. Can’t wait to see him burn his bridge in Dallas.

People in this thread claiming that Kyrie was right in 2019 when he was actively sabotaging a team that almost made the Finals w/o him…

Was a cancer to this organization

Seeing kyries comments now and how he seemed to put up a ring anytime someone disagreed with him, all in the name of being the 1A leader, but you were just telling people, you werent leading
One of the most talented ever and I’ve always been a big fan of his but man am I glad he left

To be fair Tatum and Brown were in fact not ready, they were just too young. Most stars don’t win their first championship till like 26.

Such a bitch.
For the Jays maybe, not necessarily for Kyrie!
