PG on His Future

Talks about it directly in the last 10 sec of the episode. Says he’s not chasing a ring, just wants to play basketball “the right way.” But also drops other huge nuggets throughout the episode.

Jackie Long makes it sound like PG is returning by saying things like: “next year YOU guys need to…” etc.

But then PG goes into how much he loves Paolo and Orlando looking special like a top 3 in the east. And Jackie hinting HARD that PG thinks he’d be a great basketball fit there. Sounds like that is #1 on his list.

Still, with PG saying he wants to play the “right way,” sounds like he is really going to test free agency and this is what him and his agent is gonna be asking teams. What is your BASKETBALL plan to play the right way? So everything is still on the table. I just think tea leaves say no Philly.

For the Clippers, it def helps that they got JVG to make sure to bring in fresh eyes and make sure we play the right way. 🧐 But without a starting PF and Kawhi’s health up in the air (as far as we know), how are we gonna play the right way?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose PG for nothing to Orlando. That would set us back. Man. It wouldn’t open up really much cap space at all for us.

Clippers need to pitch to PG: how we will trade Norm for a starting caliber PF. And figure out the Russ, Bones, and PJ situation. If Russ stays, how to optimize him as a great defender but a poor shooter. If Bones stays, how does he fit in, maybe with a Russ Bones run n gun backcourt with Mann and Kai? How we will offload PJ Tucker and never let him touch the floor again.

The only reason to resign him would be to see what he can be used for in a trade market. It’d be a loss but less of one than just letting him walk while we’re already capped.

Personally, I’m over PG’s overly relaxed attitude. The flipping back and forth acting like he wants to be a role player and then demanding the perks of a star. His attitude has worn away any graces he may have earned for helping the team to their first WCF.

I hate Kawhi not being healthy and how cautious he acts with his recovery time. But at no moment have I questioned if he wants to win and compete.

The right way is to join the east so that he can play the Pistons more.

  3. PG is still a very good player. Just not for this team. After 5 yrs (mostly on Kawhi) of not working sometimes it’s time to just part ways. PG can go get his bag and maybe have a better chance at winning and we can develop some of our young guys. Ideal situation would be PG opting in and trading him for some picks and players. Ppl hate change which is understandable but sometimes in the long run it’s for the best.

    Advantages of keeping PG:

    * All-star caliber player
    * Takes huge defensive and offensive load off of already injury-prone players Kawhi and Harden
    * Can take on more offensive and defensive load if Kawhi is injured
    * Keeping him would make us a deep playoff team if Kawhi is healthy
    * Better than letting him walk for nothing or trading him for someone of less value, which would make us a potential play-in team
    * Already established chemistry with team

    Disadvantages of keeping PG:

    * Streaky player, inconsistency in the playoffs
    * Turnovers are likely if he’s the ball handler
    * Redditors don’t like him and think he’s a loser

  5. Ever since he admitted to blaming teammates for his shitty passes, I’ve been out on him.

Kawhi brings different frustrations but at least he stays quiet.

  6. We have no choice but to keep PG. We already gave kawhi that extension.

I’m sorry I love PG but he just doesn’t have the fire we need. I’m ok with developing younger players and starting anew with our team.

Trade norm for a starting caliber pf?! Curious how you get to this logic, so you are saying what then, Harden, and kawhi/pg at the 2?! The other at the 3?

I don’t think you understand what is wrong with this team.

  9. Interest-Lumpy

If he’s not ring chasing, then why tf is he even on this team? I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but this is the final straw. We gotta tell him everything he wants to hear so he opts in, then we can trade his bum ass. At this point in his career, he’s a Robin, and Robins don’t get max contracts (at least they shouldn’t, but hey, front offices make foolish decisions from time to time). I’m fkn tired of him and his stans trynna paint him as this super elite player but always drop back to the “role player” label when he underperforms, but then still try to advocate the max for him like he’s a full time superstar.

Just re-sign him, build up his value early in the season then trade him so we get something for him.

Lmao. This man said he don’t want to win a ring and y’all still slobbing his knob and want to max him out so y’all can watch him bullshit.

  12. ahmed2798

I get the sense he didn’t enjoy playing with harden last year.

  13. McJumbos

I honestly think the paydays for these old guys aren’t there anymore. I think players like Jimmy, PG, and Klay aren’t gonna get the money they think they will

  14. That’s the difference between a really good and a great player…

Great players chase/want a ring and will do whatever it takes to get one…

They understand that it cements your legacy for eternity… You’ll always be a Champion for life…

The fact that PG doesn’t get this is exactly why he’ll never win one…

So if he gets to the Finals, he’s gonna be playing against someone that NEEDS A RING while he merely just “wants to play the right way” 🙄🙄🙄

    Yeah ok

  15. I think he’s gone. He was so hyped to be apart of the clippers going forward with the dome coming up early on, for contracts negotiations to drag because he thinks he’s worth the max. I can see him trying to do a sign and trade in the hopes of still being in good terms with the team so he can get his jersey retired with him. Since he’s been on that mindset thinking he’s a lock in for Indiana and LA for that honor.

  16. For the log of God I hope we get SOMETHING out of him via a sign and trade

  17. Main_Gain_7480

Part of gets “have to sign him “ crowd .. but to me you don’t give him the max. I know he can have one of those 33 point playoff games…. But he’ll also turn around and give you 3 games under 20 plus a 3 point game…..and he seems to be in that just happy to hoop and get paid phase

The penalities for teams passed the 2nd apron are real real bad
