The Raptors, I'm told, are still formulating their plan on precisely how to proceed with Bruce Brown's $23 million team option, which must be exercised (or not) by next week — June 28 specifically.

Numerous rival teams have said they expect Toronto to pick up the option so Brown's expiring contract can function as a trade-friendly contract. The Indiana Pacers, remember, originally signed Brown to a two-year, $46 million deal last summer that proved way too rich for the Denver Nuggets to retain Brown after winning the 2022-23 championship … but also an ideal trade piece to facilitate Indiana's January acquisition of Pascal Siakam.

To no one's surprise around the league, Siakam is the first player to take advantage of the new league rules which allow negotiations between teams and their own free agents starting on the day after the NBA Finals. The sides swiftly came to terms on a four-year max deal worth an estimated $190 million.

Probably gonna see what they can do at the draft, and if nothing, then look into the FA opportunities they have. Benefit of having an option date after the draft I guess.

I suspect there is a strong correlation between what we do with Brown’s option, the draft, and any chance of GTJ coming back lol

No matter the outcome, I’m ready to be whelmed again!

Man why is Bobby Webster still the GM? He’s been awful..

I’m not convinced Brown has any trade value. He was invisible for us and had every chance in the world to prove himself on a depleted roster. It’s like, hey does anyone want an undersized small forward that can’t score, he’ll give you a solid 10 minutes per game and you won’t even notice he’s on the court. Oh yeah, and he’s making 23 million

I don’t see why at the very worse the Raptors can’t trade him for a 2nd round pick

Really hope that long term Scottie isnt a gift/curse type asset.

  7. Aka checking if they can tamper with OG to come back.  If not then they pickup his option 🙂
