direct quote from Wendy he says let’s keep an eye on that speaking about anobi and his potential free agency most people believe an anobi will stay with New York but there have been indications he may want to test the market because he’s not thrilled with what the New York Knicks are offering well and then first let’s go here Jay Williams of ESPN also a CA client as is Brian windhorse saying he has heard that internally as well could this just Windor and Jay Williams trying to up the price for another CA client maybe I doubt it I want to say this first though Brian wior said this yesterday on June 17th the New York Knicks could not make offers to ogn and Obi until midnight on June 18th are is he saying the Knicks are tampering again wouldn’t be shocked but just thought that that would be important Wendy also has not been right about anything since this moment when he talked about a Rudy gobear trade wasn’t right about Donovan Mitchell come into the Knicks and so many other things but I do think it is interesting that he is reporting even though the Knicks were not allowed to offer anything that they made an offer that fell below the asking price for anobi what I would say from the Nicks perspective is there’s no need to give the best offer out of the gate when you are the only team that is able to negotiate with an anobi he cannot speak to other NBA teams until the new league year begins on July 1st so the Knicks have a couple of weeks leading up until that to where they could progress and make sure every single offer is better no need to give them the max right away I am very confident in saying this and this could be a clip save it for later bookmarket tag freezing cold takes ogan and Obi is going to resign with the New York Knicks for a multitude of different reasons first and foremost Leon Rose and the New York Knicks they know that they cannot lose ogan and Obi you gave up two not one but two players and Emanuel quickley and RJ Barrett that you have been developing for four years now to go and make a move for a player that you knew was going to be a free agent which means you knew you were going to have to resign them and only if the New York Knicks had inside information on anobi only if the New York Knicks knew or a personal relationship with an obi’s agent oh wait they do Leon Rose the head of basketball decisions for the New York Knicks his offspring his son is the agent for anobi I would be absolutely shocked I have a hard time believing that the Knicks would give up Emanuel quickly and give up RJ Barrett without knowing maybe to the smallest degree that they would have the inside information on resigning there is no way you trade for rjn quickly if you do not at least have a hint a wink a nudge nudge that yeah if you make this deal an anobi will resign with the New York Knicks I’m not saying the deal is already done but I do believe that the Knicks spoke with Sam Rose because what Dad doesn’t talk to his son and maybe they talked about hey do you think anobi would want to Reign if we made a trade for him maybe I’m just inferring too much just trying to read the tea leaves a little bit Wendy still waiting for you to be right since that one moment uh that you’ve been riding for quite some time we’ll talk more about this coming up in a second and other reasons why I believe the New York Knicks are going to resign in slightly but I do think it’s going to be a mutual partnership number one OG knows the Knicks will do what it takes this is the bed they have chosen to lie in they already gave up two highly respected prospects inside their organization in RJ in quickley and they also saw on the floor how good anobi was with the New York Knicks and how his play style had such an effect on team winning you look at what he did in the regular season for New York 14 points per game giving you just under four and a half rebounds over a steel and a half per game as well as a block per night but it was the efficiency that I think all Nicks fans fell in love with with an anob he takes high quality shots and he makes a lot of them shooting almost 49% from the deck and almost 40% from downtown that he took his game to another level in the playoffs his points went up his rebounds went up and his efficiency went up and I still remember that game three where Brunson got hurt at the beginning and an anobi against the Pacers had to carry the offense I think there’s more room for him to grow as a score in this league and then you pair that with the fact of the results and the data of how he solely impacted the win loss column in the regular season when OG and Obi played the dicks were 20 and three and then when he played alongside Jaylen Brunson they were 19 and two and when you did have that record uh with OG Jaylen Brunson and Julius Randall they were 12 and two in in those ball games the New York Knicks won by a total average of about 17 points per game but even furthermore besides what an Obi does on the floor for himself and how he impacts winning he also makes life for players on this roster EAS easier and the first person I think of is Julius Randall you look at the stats for Randall this year without OG and then with OG the points go up the assists go up the efficiency go up and he’s able to knock down more shots I thought an and Obi just made the game easier for Randall and if the Knicks aren’t able to move Randle or whatever they do with him if he’s back next year you want life for him to be easier and keep began and Obi will absolutely do that I thought that made Julius play more of a winning brand of basketball speaking of winning basketball that’s all the New York Knicks did in the month of January with a healthy Brunson Randall o G Hart and Dante Devan chenzo in January the Knicks were 14 and two number one in the NBA they had a defensive rating of 104.4 number one in the NBA their net rating of 15.8 number one in the NBA their rebound percentage 54.8 number one in the NBA the Knicks know if they want to compete for a title an obi’s got to be on this roster another reason you got to bring it back is you’ve already gone this far down the line you You’ already made this bed and this is the route you have chosen you don’t trade for an and Obi if you’re not willing to do whatever it takes for him to put pen to paper to come back and play for this organization and the Knicks know that and to be quite honest with you I do not think that there is a number where I will see the deal get signed and say Nick’s overpaid for that because you know what I’d rather overpay if that’s even a situation then lose him for absolutely nothing in NBA free agency if the Knicks want to do whatever it takes to get it done they can offer an anobi a 5year $245 million Max extension I don’t think the Knicks will come close to this offer and I don’t view anobi as a max player other teams across the NBA can’t offer nearly as much money as the Knicks the highest other teams like the Sixers or maybe the Thunder or another team like the magic that have a lot of cap space the most they could offer him is four years $11.9 million and maybe the 76ers if they strike out on Paul George they will go and make this offer to anobi and I would match it because I think he’d want to stay here but if I had to predict it today on June 18th of what is the contract that anobi is going to sign I’m going to go with this number that I have been talking to you guys for about a month now I think he will sign a 4-year $150 million contract with about three 375 million per year is it a lot of money yeah but you know what you got to spend money to make money scared money it does not make money and an anobi he made a lot of wins happen for the Knicks and he should be compensated for that I am a little bit worried about the injuries but you know what you’ve already chosen this this path you got to go down it the rest of the way if you want the Knicks to resign an anobi hit that like button do not jinx it don’t be the person that looks back in a month from now saying I just would have like that stupid kids YouTube video we would have resigned anobi so do it right now
