Where Will Russell Westbrook End Up Next Season?

Where Will Russell Westbrook End Up Next Season?

Russell Westbrook is going into free agency and it’s not looking good at all he just came off of the worst playoff series of his career really the worst playoffs of his career I’m a Hawks fan but Westbrook is one of my favorite players and to see this downturn in his career hasn’t been the most fun but I am curious what team he could be a part of next year because I still do believe he has the qualities to still be a part of winning basketball but he could also end up in a position unexpectedly such is in a veteran leadership role so let’s go through some of the teams that may potentially look his way and don’t say he should retire cuz that just isn’t happening get ready to see Westbrook Hoops for the next few years he has left and you’re going to enjoy them now he does have a player option this off season but I can’t see him testing the waters out especially after how the last two playoffs have gone for the Clippers with injuries seemingly continuing to haunt this franchise in multiple eras first we have to go through his strengths and weaknesses as a player so we can figure out what team that he can fit in without affecting them in a negative way at this point of his career he’s able to focus more on the defensive side of the ball instead of having to exert so much energy on offense like he had to previously in his career he’s still a plus playmaker in the half court though he still gets a ahead of himself due to his occasional out of control play as a shooter he’s not good at all and because of the fact that he’s not still a star his Defenders don’t need to stick with him as much as they did before so he’s often left wide open and when he’s in that role where he’s not the main ball handler he’s just a negative on offense so having him as the main ball handler would probably be the best situation for him it’s unfortunate that he’s not a very portable player but that’s how it is you can’t have a player on the court who’s providing you nothing on offense cuz you’re making life for the defense so much easier than it should be Russ is also a very fast paac player so that needs to be factored in as well whether that’s a positive or not really depends on the team he goes to with that being said I’ve come up with a list of about five potential teams and I’ll be briefly discussing where you could fit on each of these rosters I’m just going to get the most controversial one out of the way and it’s the Fenix Suns yes I know Kitty is still on the team but I don’t know any of them personally or whether they’ve patched things up but based on what I’ve seen throughout the past few seasons the respect is still there from both sides and who cares these are just hypotheticals the suns are in a situation where players are playing identical roles those players being Devon Booker and Bradley Beal it’s really difficult for me to differentiate the roles both Beal and Booker play on the the team which makes me question the purpose of adding him because relative to the money that he makes he’s not adding anything Elite to the team and his role is basically to be another score something that you already have from both Booker and KD and this is forc Booker to move into the PG role which he honestly played fine as but it’s clear that he’s much better when there’s someone else to initiate the offense so actions can be ran for him with Russ he’ll have is capable of shooting around him with Booker Beal KD and Grayson Allen I don’t know the logistics around putting a $50 million player on the bench so you can move your Superstar guard back to his original position if not Russ Off the Bench is fine too putting him next to Grayson Allen Ross O’Neal who can shoot works well in his favor as a playmaker the rim pressure he can still provide is important to this team as well since this is a team that doesn’t get to the Rim very much number two I have Russ making a return to the Oklahoma City Thunder as a nice Fair World Tour they’re a very good team that I believe has the potential to be one of the most scariest teams in the west as they were already the first seed and they made it to the second round before losing to the Future western conference champions they could definitely use some of that veteran leadership and he doesn’t have to play all that many minutes they have good spacing all around and can play play five out which makes it so much easier for him to operate in considering he’s not a good shooter they’re fast-paced as well which works for his style of play and he’s a for sure better Defender than Josh giddy so there’s Improvement for the thunder in that area number three I have the New Orleans Pelicans they already have a PG problem with CJ McCullum who at this point it’s clear that he’s better as a two Off the Bench didn’t really have that point either I mean Jose Alvarado was there but I wouldn’t say his playmaking really fits that role he’s better as a spot up shooter the Pelicans were already one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league so defens will have to pay a lot of attention to their Shooters and in the minute that Russ and Zion play I know that Pico would go crazy Russ brings the rim pressure that the team lacks from The non- Bigs and Zion himself is one of the best finishers in the league you probably wouldn’t want them to play too many minutes to together though considering the spacing would be atrocious I think the Pelicans could trade Ingram though this offseason to get that starting caliber guard and then Russ could be their backup number four I have the San Antonio Spurs and this is mainly a veter leadership role it’s probably the most unlikely location for Russ because they aren’t even a playoff team and I don’t think he’s at the state of his career where he’s fine with this role yet but I can’t rule it out entirely they do have a PG problem that that they might address in this year’s draft and I’m not asking for him to start or anything but I don’t think that the Spurs will be making this large trade for a star this off season with the goal of competing as soon as possible I think they’ll take a slower more methodical approach so that they don’t make a trade that they regret that cripples their assets just because they feel like they need to start competing because Wy was so good in his first season with this Russ could be around for maybe a year or so as a mentor for the young guys on this team and you could play a decent amount of minutes and help contribute to their Improvement my final potential free agent destination for R Us is the Miami Heat and this is the one place that fitwise is probably not the best but I guess city-wise it’s a place that can attract a lot of free agents outside of Terry Rosier they don’t really have another player that can truly run the point with the Tyler herrow experiment at the one not having the most positive of results and the lawn right to me fits much more better as an off ball defensive two guard with Westbrook’s $4 million play option currently pending he’s begun to reach the turning point of his career where each and every decision that he makes from now on will have a decisive effect on how the rest of his career will play out and the likelihood of him winning a championship if you have a team that you think should look to acquire Westbrook Let Me Know Russell Westbrook after a rather disappointing season with the Los Angeles Clippers has reached a crossroad in his career where the decisions he makes can decide how long he can remain in the league. Going into NBA Free Agency with a player option, he can either choose to stay with the Clippers or sign somewhere else, perhaps with the goal to get an increased role. In this video, I will be going over 5 of the places I believe he could choose to sign with in the offseason.
