Knicks? 76ers? 🤔 Who poses the BIGGEST threat to the Celtics in the East? | Get Up

we’re back at the bottom of the hour and I just want everyone to relive one of the Great Moments we’ve ever had on the show the other day Monica you were in a hotel room in Boston and I guess on FaceTime I didn’t even know this was a thing yes but it’ll just start doing that yeah it’s like effects is what it’s called here’s what I thought I thought you were wishing me a happy birthday you know you are myy I saw that I like well happy birthday Han yesterday was Han’s birthday but yeah we’re just talking that is honestly what I thought you were just talking and out of nowhere the balloon started and I thought is it Monica’s birthday and no one told me this and that I didn’t know that FaceTime would do that not my birthday yeah I actually thought I had turn my effects off it was actually even more appropriate cuz Jay Dre and I were all yelling about who had answered their question and we just needed to bring it down so the balloon settled can you turn my effects off make sure that doesn’t accidentally happen okay our next game is called fill in the blank and here we go uh Allan I’m going to start with you KD should want what this off seon a trade he won’t ask for it of course he’s moved a lot since he left Oklahoma City and there’s been a lot of criticism about his moving around and ring chasing which I think is unfair to him but really in his heart of hearts does he think in Phoenix capped out as they are in the Western Conference that’s his best path to a championship I don’t but he’s got two years left on his deal and Phoenix is not moving him a lot of people are suggesting we need to keep a close eye on him we see meanwhile Monica in order to win the championship the 76ers should want what this off season I know I’m sorry producers health and Paul George is my original answer right I think Paul George is definitely an upgrade he has the ability to give this team some additional scoring punch that they need but I’m also sort of racking my brain I feel like they need a guy that’s done it no offense to PG and I don’t know that he’s out there the same sort of effect that you could say drew holiday had on the Celtics sort of in that vein so right now I’m going with health and PG but I got to I the right to change my mind see what else they might get meanwhile UD which team blank what which team is the biggest threat to the Celtics in the East a healthy Miami Heat team and I know people at home probably questioning this but if you look at the East the last few years four out of five years it’s been the Miami Heat or the Boston Celtics Milwaukee’s thrown theirself in the hat but it’s been between us and Boston I’ll tell you another thing that’s a matchup if we were healthy we would have loved to have a shot in yeah look I mean they met in the first round this year without Jimmy Butler and there you see the last five Conference champions in the East to your point going back to the bubble uh for the 5 years it’s been Miami or Boston so so let me let me frame it this way and parenthetically everyone knew you were going to say Miami that that one was not a mystery but but here’s the thing but you may not know this about me but I can see the future I have seen the future okay and I’m telling you right now the Celtics don’t win the East next year if I were to tell you that if I were to say there will be a different team besides the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals next year which team would you tell me it was going to be New York Knicks would you care to expand on that oh I thought we just one word answers um let’s go to break I right that’s it drop the hammer uh I think first of all we keep talking about health across the league right like if all these teams are healthy I think if you had the opportunity to see a healthy New York knck Squad I think there’s culture there there’s defense there there’s a toughness there there’s just a pedigree I think Jaylen Brunson is continuing to ascend and honestly people forget J excuse me Julius Randle was a 25-9 guy was an Allstar this league and did not play down the stretch of the back the back half of the Season yeah so I think they have the pieces and the identity what would you say next to I I I lead with Nicks but it’s because what you said about the heat a healthy Miami Heat a healthy Nicks team a healthy Sixers Team all three of them are looking at the Celtics and saying all the same thing we could have beaten them if we were healthy and so that to me is going to be a big theme in the East next year it’s they’re now the hunted and you’ve got three squads that have the the talent and dep to do it to go after them and Target them but if the Knicks run it back as is I look at them I put them just ahead slightly they went through some pain physically but also emotionally about losing and I think that’s going to be a big rally cry for them which one do you respect more if you look at those you look at the Philly situation and again we don’t know what they’re going to add they’ve got a huge um the ability to add a huge piece if they want they have they have the the ability to spend in that way so maybe they add Paul George which is the name we’ve heard a lot or someone else but sort of where we sit right now would you say you fear the Sixers or the Knicks more the Knicks Knicks I’m a huge Jaylen Brunson guy I love tibo are they going to bring back OG anobi but I will say and once again pick it back in off of Monica a lot of people got lost in the sauce because Brunson played so well but they really needed Julius Rands in that playoff series you need another guy their exactor stepped up divon chenzo those guys stepped up they did an amazing job but you need your big guy your second big guy and they needed Julius Randle but I’m going tell you the difference none of those teams don’t got lostra not none of those team don’t gotra no and that’s where we separate ourselves that’s where we separate ourselves you can we’re going to have to put a timeline on this we for you cuz you getting you real close to nobody said it when Woody said we for the Lakers and he a football player fair enough he got away with it fair enough that’s very funny he actually literally is a Wei when you consider he wore the jersey I’ll give you that least he would didn’t wear the Lakers jersey that’s right on the old show I used to say why say we about the Jets and Mike would say what you got a mouse in your pocket but there is a lot of speculation not speculation I think a lot of people think they could be just at the beginning of something very special yesterday sitting right here Zack low was saying I want the Celtics to go out there and say we’re looking to repeat we Embrace this Challenge and then he Zach had Joe Missoula the head coach on his podcast and here’s what the coach said that’s all I’ve been thinking about since the horn went off is like what type of temperature are we going to set and how are we going to find that balance of maximizing the opportunity that we have but at the same time not skipping steps and the type of character and players that we have you know I think we’ll put ourselves in position you know to maximize our opportunity because of who they are but like that’s what I’m studying right now okay so credit to him in so many ways he’s embracing that challenge and you were telling us he said something somewhat similar to you right after the game right yes I had the opportunity to interview him right after the game right after they won a championship he pointed in the Raptors where the current Banner was going to go and then he pointed to an empty space in the Raptors and he said we have another space I believe that he’s already set in the tone in that locker room I Love the Way Joe moula challenges his guys mentally he gets his guys to buy in and I think he’s a guy who’s going to push those guys that already start thinking about winning another one so you’re one of the few people I can ask this question directly to what’s the hardest part of that that the league has not seen a repeat champion in a long time you’ve been a part of championship teams what is this is a team that hasn’t done it before right so when when I’m thinking back to the the teams that won the titles there with LeBron and those guys I mean dwade had done it before and Riley is obviously there and whatnot what’s the hardest what would be the hardest part for Missoula now as he tries to quote unquote set the temperature as he said to get his team back there the guys have already bought in but health health is something that you can’t control I think a lot of people don’t understand this is you’re the team that plays all the way to the end you have the shortest summer then you go right back into the training camp pushing yourself getting your body back to the point where you can try to do it again so health is the thing that I think Boston has to worry about outside of that all the other teams that have that put that Target on their back all the teams that are gunning for them all the teams that are looking at them and saying we want healthy we want a healthy opportunity to take a shot at Boston health is something that you can’t necessarily always control though how about something you can control what can Missoula do what’s the most important thing you think he as a coach needs to do to set the tone I I like the way he phrased that what temperature are we going to set how do you do that especially for a group where they didn’t I mean I guess Drew holiday did they didn’t have a lot of Champions on that team what’s what’s the right way to set a temperature I mean he’s has an awkward way of and and and uh he has an awkward way of kind of motivating his guys I heard he showed Jason Tatum a Batman video or something like like so so I’m thinking the way you start training camp is you come in with training camp and you find an awkward way to motivate these guys maybe you show them a film maybe you challenge them in a certain way I don’t think you come in and just hit the ground running and training camp once again you have played longer than everybody so you kind of ease your way in the training camp but mentally you go through the mental preparation every day in practice building your habits working and pushing yourself I think that’s where you start to get it going well we haven’t had repeat champions in a long time not since the KD Warriors um is these Celtics have the best chance to do it you think of all these teams I mean they do because they have two stars number one they’re both in their Prime they’re both locked up like you have a core that’s going to be there for at least this year you’re not going to see a lot of roster changes with this team they’re going to be the same team going forward but you know a year ago Michael Malone was standing there at their parade saying repeat talking about doing it again and they ran into a wall in the second round and he couldn’t he couldn’t get his team over the hump so it is a difficult thing to do but I like like that they’re talking about I like that they put it out there I think you have to do that and how they motivate themselves into it is what Jason Tatum said before they even won the championship this year remember after game three what are they going to say now that whole conversation he said well we’ll just have to come back here and do it again next year he also put it out there cuz he knows the narrative is this was an easy Road for you everybody was hurt that’s going to hang over this team so if they want a motivation that’s the one I got an idea well show them the clips of us talking about them now that’s it you come in training camp you show them the clips that we talking right now picking the Knicks picking the heat picking everybody else to next I was going to say how you Avengers in game but whatever you’re welcome coach [Music]

  1. Go Celtics ☘️ Biggest Threats for us in The Eastern Conference Next Season a Healthy NY Knicks and I still think a Healthy Greek Freak Damon Lillard even though they struggled last season I think they will be better will give us problems Dont forget Indiana Pacers are a Young team on the Rise .

  2. BS. bucks the only true threat to the celtics. knicks worse with randle. embiids never gonna do it. hold him to the same standard the Jays were held to for making the CONFERENCE finals. heat always trouble with spo and jimmy. ESPN a joke

  3. I would say the Knicks. Bogdanovoc and anunpvy are big additions. Randle needs to step it up . Still would pick celtics to beat everyone. Bucks would also be interesting if they can figure out how to play defense

  4. The only threat they had, like these past 3 years was themselves. And it would be the same moving forward. A healthy Knicks? Sixers? Bucks? Cavs? vs healthy Celtics? not a chance. Again, Media like ESPN got this prediction wrong again.

  5. Knicks aren’t a threat to the celtics. When everyone’s healthy the knicks aren’t even a top 4 team in the east

  6. Is Doc Rivers really so bad of a coach that we’re acting like the Bucks aren’t in this conversation?😂😂😂

  7. Celtics will be better next season. Also await, there will be some championship chasing stars wanting to join Celtics even if it is bench next season for a song, as they know they could win with Celtics.

  8. I love how PG has gotten so much praise the guys hasn’t won anything every year the numbers go down let’s stop with the PG guna take teams over the top not guna happen

  9. None of those teams healthy would’ve beaten the Celtics lol it would’ve been a longer series yes but beat no

  10. What is this backwards talk about if we were healthy we would have beaten Boston…If i were Lebron James I would have won the NBA this season…Mavs were healthy they got blown out with ease

  11. I know this for sure next season we have a new champion. I guaranteeeeeeeeeee it! Won’t be Celtics no disrespect.

  12. Bucks play no D and Khris is finished, Heat have no superstar (Jimmy washed), Knicks are reliant on an undersized guard (Randle overrated). West is only hope to beat Boston

  13. All these teams mention are clowns. You all act as if the Celtics were completely health. KP didn't even play until the finals and the Celtics still smack all these teams. Just understand the Celtics no long have anything to lose. They have a ring now. Next year the Celtics are going to come back even better than this year. With a year together now with KP, the Celtics are going to light the east on fire next year.

  14. And tthese clowns still haven't learned stop picking with bias go with the numbers they never lie

  15. Broooo GET UD THE EFF OUTTTA HERE. HES SUCH A GOON NOW. Such a homer for the Heat. He needs to go a Miami Heat team coverage 😂😂

  16. Miami is in the rearview mirror when it comes to the Celtics. Also, NOBODY was beating Boston this year healthy or not

  17. I actually think it’s still the Pacers. They get Mathurin back with a healthy and more experienced Hali. We also saw that Nembhard can give good points off the bench. One of the most underrated teams in the league.

  18. Embiid hates the Celtics openly for a reason… Every year he should make a deep run, he gets bounced by Boston. Embiid is no threat
