NOBODY Saw This Coming… 🤯 | NBA Playoffs
[Applause] Irving inside the L how did that win fur nobody saw this coming for the 2024 NBA playoffs first the Celtics considerably had the easiest path toward the finals but the Dallas Mavericks they took everyone for a spin and I guarantee that almost everyone’s playoff bracket was a bust this year because the top two teams in the west were eliminated by round two so let’s talk about the craziness throughout the 2024 NBA playoffs now if we’re being honest the Western Conference was more exciting to watch this year seeing as the Mavericks became the second five-seed team to make it to the NBA finals the last team to do this was the Miami Heat in 2020 against the Lakers it also felt like round two had excitement like the NBA Finals between the nuggets and wolves and then the Mavs and thunder so let’s start there first for the first time in 20 years the timber wols advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs where tonight they begin a seven game series against against a familiar Foe for the second straight season it’s the wolves and Nuggets but this time the stakes are even higher the winner moves on to the Western Conference Finals prior to round two the Timberwolves swept the Suns which was absolutely bizarre since there was a lot of anticipation for the Suns Trio especially since they beat the wolves in all three of their games this season and the Wolves hadn’t won a playoff series since 2004 most predicted the Suns in six and well to everyone’s surprise the Wolves didn’t just win the series but they swept the Suns now moving to the Nuggets simp simply put they were the defending Champions and didn’t have much of a problem beating the Lakers in round one so this matchup had a lot of eyes watching the defending Champions against the team that held down first in the West for most of the season this series took Everyone by surprise first the Wolves won both games on the road everyone thought the Wolves had it in the bag and the Nuggets would never bounce back I got the Minnesota timber woes winning it all man but then the Nuggets responded to shock everyone’s expectations the Nuggets ended up taking the next three games straight and during that time Nicola put up a 40-point game to shut down the Timberwolves in game five another one incredible but then game six [Music] happened if you were betting on these games your parlay probably didn’t work out after a roller coaster of a series in the first quarter the Wolves took a quick 125 lead right off the top but it didn’t last long as the Nuggets respond wanted to tie the game the Nuggets took full control of the game and just at the top of the third quarter they were up by 20 clearly everyone thought the Nuggets had it in the bag but the Wolves didn’t the Wolves somehow closed the Gap to one point in the third quarter and took the game back in the fourth making it the biggest game seven comeback in NBA playoff history after the Thunder swept the Pelicans in round one Dallas had to fight their way through the clippers but managed to keep control of the ser series winning in six now to be honest most people thought OKC had it in the bag and won three of the four games against the Mavs in the season so on paper it just made sense to favor OKC but it’s the playoffs and there’s always a different breed of players in the playoffs so let’s get right to it OKC took game one which was pretty much expected but then game two happened the Mavs took over game two on the road and then also won game three now leading the series for the first time the idea of OKC losing in round two sunk in but OKC wasn’t going down without a fight after being down by 14 points in game four and then making the comeback to win the game and tie the series on a side note this better would have made $1.7 million if OKC won the NBA title back in May 2023 he made a three- pick parlay for the Texas Rangers to win the 2023 World Series the KC Chiefs to win the 2024 Super Bowl and OKC to win the 2024 NBA Finals but after game four and the craziness of the series he decided to cash out at 75,000 and well he made the perfect decision because for the next two games Dallas continued to show why they were part of the NBA Finals conversation Luca put up his third playoff career triple double tying LeBron for the second most done by a player 25 or younger we also can’t forget about how SGA led the Thunder with 30 points as well but it was game six where everything was on the line for most of the game OKC had control and by the third quarter had a 17-point lead knocks down the 12-footer Lively did on top of that sgaa was on fire putting up a 36-point game overall which was more than any other player between both teams but if you don’t know by now Dallas has been here before they were third and fourth quarter comebacks in the 2023 24 season as the Mavericks took control back they showed how dangerous they could be and it was only the second round prior to the playoffs the Celtics were obviously the favorite team after coming off a 64- win season that also included one of the highest scoring margins in NBA history at plus 11.4 per game but their path to the NBA finals was just not the same as the Mavs in round one against the Heat Jimmy Butler was out for the whole series so it was pretty much handed to the Celtics but it also seemed that way in round two and the finals as well since Donovan Mitchell missed the final two games for the Cavs and then Tyrese halberton was out for the final two games as well now despite having the easiest road to the finals the Celtics were still the best team in the league regardless and still likely would have beat out the heat Cavs and Pacers maybe just not as easily but in the west the Thunder nuggets and wolves were a roller coaster all season going back and forth between the top spot all three teams were easily contenders for an NBA Finals but in this case there could only be one that said with the Thunder ending up at the top of the West they became the youngest team in NBA history to do so round one was a roller coaster overall and surprisingly only two teams swept but what was more surprising about that was the Wolves against the Suns as for the Thunder it just made sense but two other teams just missed a sweep the Nuggets beat the Lakers in five and surprisingly enough the Celtics beat the heat in five too but the real suspense came from the Clippers and Mavs and Knicks and Sixers series if there was any first round series to watch it was this one the Mavs came through in a way like never before while Luca became the fifth player in NBA history with 20 plus career playoff games of 30 plus points at age 25 or younger and also put up his 20th 30-point game in his playoff career joining LeBron KD Kobe Bryant and Jason Tatum as the only players with that many games at 25 or younger I mean this one was fun to watch Jaylen Brunson had four 39 plus point games becoming the first player since Michael Jordan to do so in game three Joel and beid became the first sixer to score 50 points in a playoff game since Allen Iverson but then the next game Jaylen Brunson put up 47 points making a new franchise record with the highest points scored by a Knicks player in the playoffs by this point the Knicks led the series 3 to1 stepping into game five with the Sixers facing elimination Tyrese Maxi was the star of the game putting up 46 points and this clutch shot to send the Sixers to overtime and forcing a game six but despite the efforts from the Sixers the Knicks took the series in game six and then jumping to the Conference Finals as we mentioned earlier the Celtics had an easy sweep against the Pacers but the Mavericks seriously took everyone off guard [Applause] it was clear that the Wolves were the favorite team in this series it kind of felt like the Pacers where they beat out the Bucks and then people were like okay but can you beat out the Knicks and that’s exactly what the Mavs did on the Wolves after beating the Thunder everyone was shocked so the question lingered could they actually beat the Wolves throughout the season the Mavs only won one of the four games in the regular season but this series was a shocker once again the Mavs won the first three games of the series and for the first time since 2011 the idea of the Mavs winning an NBA title started to sink in it honestly felt like it was Minnesota’s time after beating the Nuggets but these Mavs were on another level and it showed as they won the series 4-1 I’d say that most people wanted the Mavs to win the whole thing at this point well I can’t say I’m surprised despite most of America voting for the Mavs to win according to bet online on X the Celtics really showed why they’re the best team in the league I mean even throughout the season the Celtics swept the Mavs in both their matchups without much pressure that said right from game one both teams produced Luca became the 10th player to put up a 30-point double double in an NBA Finals debut even though it still wasn’t enough to beat the Celtics who took the win by 18 points on top of that porzingis became the fourth player since 1971 to put up 20 plus points off the bench in a finals debut as well in game two Luca put up his seventh triple double of the 2024 playoffs tying Wilt Chamberlain for second most in a single postseason run and also put up his 10th career playoff triple double passing Will Chamberlain and tying Larry Bird now despite all that every game felt like the Celtics had control and after winning three games straight it just made sense for the Celtics to win at all even though the Mavericks dominated game four and won by 38 points people just figured the Celtics let them win so they could win at home and well that’s exactly what they did as it wasn’t even close the Celtics beat the Mavs to win their 18th NBA title and ultimately dominated the entire year with a record of 80 21 Jason Tatum made history in the final game during the first half passing Kobe Bryant for most playoff points in NBA history before the age of 27

Nobody saw this coming for the 2024 NBA Playoffs. First, the Celtics considerably had the easiest path toward the Finals BUT the Dallas Mavericks?! They took everyone for a SPIN and I’d guarantee that almost everyone’s Playoff Bracket was a BUST this year because the top 2 teams in the West were eliminated by Round 2.
