To preface, I don’t believe Brook is going anywhere, he’s just too valuable against superstar bigs, Doc is probably moving him to the bench or making him a 50/50 split starter depending on how well the rookie big we draft does in training camp.

Do not make another Jrue mistake… He may not be important anymore to this team but he could be valuable to other teams that try to stop Giannis

Realistically, trading Brook could be great. Or it could result in disaster. I would like to see how our draft turns out before I make any declarations. I think he’s still great in many ways and would love to see us keep him and play him reduced minutes. He adds a lot of versatility if we are able to somehow add another big that can eat up more minutes.
Plus the vibes. Brook is a Bucks legend now, IMO.

How does Giannis feel about being full time center? Trading Brook for a wing will mean a rookie or a vet minimum center replacement, which is generally not someone you can count on.
The first part I believe. the rest is just a random thought that has no basis in reality.

I don’t think Bobby AND Brook get extensions from the Bucks next offseason so I can see Brook being shopped for a starting caliber player.
If the Bruce Brown thing is actually real maybe bucks/raptors swap 23 for 19 as part of it. Jump in front of Cleveland, NOLA, PHX who could all take centers.

I’d like to see what the Thunder are willing to give up for him. I feel like he’s the perfect bench big/ spot starter for them, and they have several young, highly drafted guards barely getting minutes

Okc might want a big and we want young legs

Only realistic option at Center in Brook’s place is Giannis. Doc Rivers better make damn sure he and Giannis are on the same page with this if that is his plan. If Giannis isn’t on board with playing Center then this idea should have never even left the building. If Giannis is fine with the plan to move to Center it opens up a ton of different options for us going forward.
If he’s willing to play the 5 permanently we then sign guys like Drummond as Backup Center. Last season in games Drummond played 28minues or more (8 games) he averaged 17/20/2 and 2 Blocks per game. We no longer need a stretch 5 if Giannis plays Center. We know Giannis prefers to play PF but if he wants to give us best shot to win a chip allowing the Bucks to no longer need stretch 5’s opens up a bunch of options on defense. Andre Drummond will be 31 years old next year and would make an excellent backup 5 and he only gets paid the Vet Min. This would free up $25 million in cap space for a PF that could be a difference maker.
If we are moving Brook Lopez for another Stretch 5 I’m left wondering who TF could we get for $25mill/per??? Could we really find a Center that makes us more versatile on defense and hit 3’s for $25mill? Who?

I don’t think trading Brook makes the defense more versatile. Losing the ability to play drop with Brook at center makes the defense way _less_ versatile. The problem is that when you bench Brook there aren’t enough other good defenders on the team to play another style. We used to have guys like Jrue, Wes, Donte, PJ, George Hill, PatC, etc. who were good to great defenders and could reasonably be trusted to guard multiple positions. Now you basically just have Giannis, which might be the best starting point in the league but one guy can only do so much.
The biggest personnel issues this highlights isn’t Brook but Crowder and Bobby, in my opinion.

Brook is two years younger than Horford, so coming from bench would be a good move for him to thrive in playoffs

Gain of salt. I personally don’t trust anything KOC says. There is a history of him “reporting” dubious and unconfirmed rumors that end up not panning out. This applies tenfold for teams that are not the Boston Celtics. I would have a hard time believing that he has any legitimate and credible sources with the Bucks who are pretty tight-lipped as far as organizations go.
If I were going to recklessly speculate, I would say that he is making things up based on random Twitter consensus.
Edit: actually he says it right there in the tweet. ” There are rumblings”. That statement could mean anything or nothing at the same time.

I guess the question would be, who is the replacement?

Problem with a rookie center seems like they fall apart like many rookies come playoff time. It’s the longest season of their life and they’re adjusting and playing more than ever. Bucks are win now mode and fully replacing Brook with a rookie would be tough.

The reason why a team might want Brook (expiring) is the same reason why I think we should keep him.
Dame and Giannis are making more money every year, and Dame is past his peak. That Dame contract is going to start hurting worse and worse every year from here on out.
