THE FIRST MAJOR TRADE OF THE 2024 NBA OFFSEASON

Chicago Bulls are trading two time all defensive guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Josh giddy who you know was not going to have the ball in his hands in OKC Chicago and they’ve got the young Dynamic playmaker uh that they’ve been after with the bulls this morning I woke up and decided to drop a video on the latest happenings of the WNBA exactly 1 hour later we got some breaking news that the Los Angeles Lakers shocked the world and hired JJ reic as their head coach once that was finished I figured okay there probably isn’t much else for today so I’m going to get up and go to the gym the moment I walked out to go train legs which by the way I just hit a new PR we got some breaking news that the Chicago Bulls and the OKC Thunder are swinging the first big trade of the NBA grind now that we get all that out of the way the [Music] [Music] intro M check 1212 what’s going on everybody Josh gidy has had quite the season for himself so far back in Thanksgiving he got himself into some trouble for a situation that we’ve made way too much content on and we’ll leave some of that in the end screen if you want to get caught up to date on it but in this particular video I just want to strictly discuss Josh giddy the basketball player and when you look at Josh giddy’s basketball career he was drafted into a phenomenal situation he was selected with the sixth overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder one pick before Jonathan kaminga and the OKC Thunder were hoping that Josh giddy could be some sort of playmaker an individual that could get his teammates involved grab some boards and put points on the board as well and the thing is Josh giddy was able to do all of that but when you’re the Oklahoma City Thunder and you have a treasure chest of draft picks and you have players that need to get paid a large sum of money relatively soon you need to identify very quickly which of these players fit into your roster and which of these players you’re going to have to part ways with and in the case of Josh giddy it clearly seemed like he did not fit with the OKC Thunder over this past season and it’s not really his fault Josh giddy got absolutely exposed in the playoffs he did fine in his first round matchup but in the second round versus the Dallas Mavericks Josh giddy was benched because he was getting Exposed on the defensive end and when Mark dagal was asked why he was benched this is all he had to say um I mean at the end of the day just like considering all the information uh before every single game and and treating game as every game is its own life um I just wasn’t comfortable doing it up until now um you know at the end of the day I’m making a lot of different decisions they’re not all going to be right or wrong you know it’s now the truth is Josh giddy is a fantastic playmaker but at the same time you have Shay gilis Alexander who takes up a tremendous amount of the offensive share so you would think that the OKC Thunder would just tell Josh giddy to come off the bench and be the playmaker for the second unit but that’s not what Mark dagal decided to do this combined with the fact that he had a really bad playoff series versus the Mavericks resulted in Josh Giddy and admitting that this was a really tough season for him you don’t feel like getting out of bed um you know for for a number of reasons and um as I said I’m just lucky to have people around me that care that um you know were there for me and um coming in every day seeing my teammates that helps being in the gym working out that that definitely helps but um yeah there’s there’s a million things but um they probably the few that that that help the most I guess with staying on track and you know drowning out outside noise now the OKC Thunders still have a plethora of first round picks that they either need to trade for a star or they’re going to continue to use on role players you really can’t go wrong but the thing is they have to be very quick to determine which ones fit and which ones don’t fit on the roster in the case of Josh giddy he is going to be eligible for a contract extension next year and although he’s going to be a restricted free agent chances are there will be teams that could identify that Josh giddy would be a fantastic player if he was actually allowed to run the offense and didn’t have Shay gilas Alexander on the roster and there’s nothing wrong with that it’s kind of what happens whenever you have an embarrassment of riches on an offense it’s kind of reminiscent to what the OKC Thunder dealt with a decade ago with James Harden on the roster they had to choose between sergy Baka and James Harden and they chose sergy Baka at the end of the day and I’m not saying that Josh gidd is the next coming of James hard but it’s a much similar situation if you take a look at Josh giddy’s numbers this guy is not a bad basketball player at all it’s just the fit on the OKC Thunder is a little questionable you take a look at his basic numbers and this past year he shot 34% from three 48% from the field had 12.6 rebounds and five assists per game and throughout his career he averaged 14.7 rebounds and six assists throughout his career you take a look at his Advanced statistics and he’s not that bad of a player offensively or defens ly his obpm this past year was a one his defensive box plus minus was positive his overall BPM was positive and most importantly he has one of the best value over replacement players in the NBA for a player that is playing the minutes that he’s playing it just seems like his fit on the roster and what the OKC Thunder need are unsuitable for one another and there’s no problem with that which is why the OKC Thunder decided to trade Josh giddy for one of the most coveted role players in the entire NBA so according to Adrien wowski keep breaking the Chicago Bulls are trading two time all defensive guard Alex Caruso to the OKC Thunder for guard Josh giddy sources tell ESPN the trade delivers the Thunder one of the League’s most coveted role players a 30-year-old guard who GM Sam presty has long pursued for the Western conference’s first seed kuso’s arrival could be seen as an addition comparable to the Golden State Warriors acquisition of Andre gudala in 2013 both were 30 years old the Bulls have been determined to find a playmaker to replace play Lonzo ball and giddy who’s 21 years old comes with an All-Star potential that would unlikely be realized with the Thunder because of the playmaking star power who surrounded him the Bulls will offer him an opportunity to have the ball in his hands and so much more freedom to pass and score people are roasting Adrien wowski for saying Allstar potential but I hate to admit it w Is Right Josh kid is on a team that can’t really use him as much as a team as possibly the Chicago Bulls the Chicago Bulls were a phenomenal team when Lonzo ball was fully healthy Josh doesn’t even need to fulfill star potential in order to make this trade worth it because at the end of the day Alex Caruso is going to enter free agency and the Chicago Bulls could potentially lose him for absolutely nothing this is a no-brainer type of trade for the OKC Thunder Josh giddy has a tremendous skill set that isn’t meant for the OKC Thunder Alex Caruso is significantly more needed especially in Playoff scenarios for the OKC Thunder anytime you have an opportunity to get defense for a player that really doesn’t fit onto your team you should jump at the opportunity and that’s what the OKC Thunder are doing here for the Chicago Bulls they pretty much sell high on Alex Caruso you weigh two long in this particular instance and you can lose Caruso for absolutely nothing he’s on an incredible contract for the OKC Thunder this year as well only getting paid $9.89 million this year before he hits free agency in a year from now at the end of the day for the OKC Thunder I give this trade an A+ because there’s no purpose in keeping Josh giddy around if you weren’t going toay pay him or match the contract that he would get offered and paying Josh giddy to occupy the role that he currently occupied on the Thunder would have been a horrific mistake but for the Chicago Bulls this might be a little controversial I’m going to give them a B+ for this trade Josh giddy is exactly what they need Alex Caruso is 30 years old his contract expires at the end of the 24 to 25 season maybe you think that the Bulls could have gotten more for Alex Caruso but at the end of the day I would happily roll the dice on a 21-year-old that has the stats that Josh giddy has that has the potential that Josh giddy has then to hold on to a 30-year-old on a great contract for way too long when there doesn’t seem to be a lot of potential for the Bulls to make it to the finals this year I really like this move I think it’s really great for both teams but a move that I’m not so particularly fond of is my Los Angeles Lakers just hired a podcaster as their head coach maybe I think it’s Doom and Gloom maybe I just lost faith in the Lakers for an office because this is the fourth head coach that LeBron James got to play for on the
