I read somewhere that the Lakers are interested, and of course Klay has LA roots, including a home there. But it would have to be a very complicated Sign & Trade, so even if the mutual interest is there, I don’t know how realistic it is.
If it COULD be done, there are definitely some players on mid-range contracts on the Lakers who would be interesting to bring in.
If he lasts into the late Second Round, maybe we could encourage the deal by drafting Bronny and only agreeing to trade him if we can work a S&T deal 🙂

Klay is set to be a bench player for the rest of his career. He came off the bench for a team that didn’t make the playoffs. The contract offer is going to reflect at least some e of that sentiment. I love Klay but the business model is what it is.

Does nobody know Klay is 13 years older than Podz Moody Kuminga. I do wanna keep Klay but I actually believe two of those three guys will be far better than Klay moving forward (almost immediately).
In 2027 the third year Klay is asking for. He’ll be 37 (born Feb 1990). How much are we asking to keep him on sentiment v what he would be EXPECTED to produce.
That year Moody Kuminga Podz will be 24.
Not hating on Klay but we never ACTUALLY bring up the reality of what he’s asking for. MDJ doesn’t wanna guess on whether Klay won’t continue to decline as most players in their mid 30s do. If he’s still solid after year two. Hey sure year three.
We aren’t anywhere near championship… and it might be time to move on if he wants things on his terms to that extent.
