D’angelo Russell is a perfect fit for the Orlando Magic.

We know the Magic are looking for a scorer at the guard position and that’s exactly who DLo is. His whole career he himself has said “I’m a PG/SG hybrid”. The playmaking scorer DLo is coming off a year where he made the most 3’s in a season by any Laker of all time. He averaged 7.5 3PA per game on a great 41.5% 3P% clip. Career high 3PT% last season as well as FT & +/-. Averaged over 18 points and 7 assist per game, Averaging 18 Pts as the 3rd option on a team with Bron, AD while being the 3rd option is impressive. The Lakers went 1-7 this past season when Russell was off the floor. His playoff performance in 2023 was great, he was a major key in the Lakers success vs the Warriors & Grizzles to get them in the WCF where Russell struggled against the NBA champs. Russell statistically one of the clutches players in the NBA, his great play-in performances get overshadowed by a game or 2 from an overall decent playoff run. This year he had a decent series overall but with a scoreless game 3 overshadowing all of his other performances, it was clear he was just another scapegoat for LeBron & Laker fans. All this without mention Russell’s All Star year in Brooklyn when he was the #1 option and not including his best season with Golden State or his leading seasons in Minnesota. The 28 year old veteran has been in many playoff moments, with the ability to rise in the moment. With a contract that won’t be absurd D’angelo Russell would be a great addition to a team looking for consistent scoring and extra facilitating at the Point Guard position.

DLo currently is basically Cole Anthony’s ceiling. Would be a perfect fit here.

DLo – Suggs back court would be a perfect blend of playmaking, shooting, and defense

He’s not a “perfect fit” though, because he’s not particularly committed to exceptional defense. But he is a good player and would solve some problems.

Klay no thanks and Paul George wants a max 4 years deal that we aren’t offering him. I don’t like him one bit, but at this point it’s the best option we have with Monk gone…

  4. I can’t describe how much i’d hate this fit from a personality stand point. but if we sign him I will fully take it back because I fucking loved the dude at OSU

  5. I really don’t want this guy. The culture we’re trying to get in Orlando is high effort defence and this guy is the antithesis of that. I know we really need scoring but they need to have good mentality and at least passable defence

DLO would be one of my last choices to sign, id explore using cap space in a trade even to get future assets instead of just signing him

plays like ass first half the year, turns it up 2nd half, and then completely shits himself in the playoffs so
    nahhhhh

  8. On paper he makes sense, but he seems like a below average defender. Our defense is elite because we don’t have weak defenders that teams can take advantage of. From what I heard, Dlo stepped up his defense this season, but he’s been a weak defender for 10 seasons and during a big contract year he finally figured it out and gave maximum effort?

On top of that he has been traded or not retained by 5 teams now in his career. If the Lakers choose to not sign him what does that say about him?

In a vacuum he’s what we need. I lead ball handler that can shoot 3’s at a decent clip and is a serviceable playmaker…..what I don’t like is his hot/cold nature of play, lack of defensive intensity, and he’s at his best being a high usage player.

He’s certainly a Plan C or D guy for me and at a very team friendly deal. I’m eying many more players before he even comes into view.
