welcome back to another episode on the MLD balls page on today’s episode we’re going to be acting like if I was the GM with Orlando Magic this team just came off of a great playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers they weren’t expected to make the playoffs as soon as they did so just doing that I hate to say it but you know they’re just happy to be there even though they took them at seven games and they could have won if they had a team that was more bu around winning a championship That season that that’s exactly why you should always build your team to win games that that team really needed guard play bad and it showed in that series on their defense though is something that this identity should be built upon up because Pao P Caro is a great defender fron Wagner is a really good Defender and Jaylen sugs has became all NBA Defender so you got those three core guys who all play defense very well when lart is a good Defender then you have a All Pro Defender and Jonathan Isaac who he’s just a weapon a weapon you could ganize Off the Bench which is incredible um you should buy into that keep that identity but you you add some guard play um you need offensive creating bad because Paulo mcro as good as he is he shouldn’t be your primary or I can’t say that because he could be one day but like come on come on man like you’re asking too much out of him at at this young age and if you’re going to ask that much out of him it’s because of how good he is and if you think he’s that good let’s let’s get some Talent around him because he is capable of doing what the Orlando Magic made him do it’s just he didn’t have any help unfortunately offensively like we saw how bad the magic shot if the magic could make shots they they would be such a better team cuz fron Wagner hit his three-point shot at this appeared but he when France Wagner personally is attacking the rim he has space in because Paulo Ben Caro has developed his three-pointer but when Pao Ben Caro is penetrating he doesn’t have that many viable options he could go to because of how weak of a option France has been from the three-point line and then Off the Bench they got Marquel FZ you know and then then they got Jonathan Isaac you know they they need space and badley and keeping their defense on First Trade I’m going with and first move I would make as the GM of the Orlando Magic is getting Anthony Simons um the timeline that we were on last year it changed um we we we got Anthony black and chat Howard who were first round picks last year and we did not play them very much in the first round of the playoffs we were not interested in rebuilding we were not interested in having our young pieces grow because if we were we would have put them in the playoffs atmosphere and you know had them play in playoff games Anthony black wasn’t that bad at point guard I don’t think that’s his I think Anthony Black’s gonna find him a career somewhere at small forward I do think that because he’s a good Defender he he could play point though like I I do see the vision of him as a point forward Anthony black could play point guard like a lamelo ball type but or uh Orlando could send him to Portland and they’ll see what they do with that while Howard could be a nice little score cuz he he can put the ball in the basket just Orlando wasn’t giving him minutes he didn’t get the opportunity to do and we know what type of prospect he was and then we’re going to add our two first round picks I think that’s enough for Anthony Simons and Robert Williams um yeah Anthony Simons though he comes to Orlando and he gives them that spacing immediately because he shot 37 on like seven attempts last season maybe seven to nine like just straight off of attempts he’s a plus and his playmaking is something that the Orlando Magic could very much utilize um andony Simons his problem is staying on the court though because he he played like 46 games last year I believe which isn’t good but at the same time he was playing on the Blazers team that he knew he could miss games on you you got to keep that in mind because when players are not playing on good teams and they know that they’re tanking they they don’t force themselves to play or they don’t play as many games that they really would you know because why um Anthony Simons so the defense believe it or not I don’t think it really gets that much worse from Anthony Simons to Gary Harris yes the skill on defense gets lower but with Anthony Simons there’s going to be less turnovers on the offensive side of the ball so it’s not going to be as much fast breaks Paulo van Caro is not going to have to do as much playmaking so he would be able to focus more on defense you know that’s how Anthony Simons would also make their defense better just by giving their defense more energy because France Wagner and Paulo B Caro would be able to have less ball handling duties and if those guys have less ball handling duties that means and Fry Simons is going to be creating havoc on the three-point line because he he’s someone who you have to pick up from 30 feet believe it or not he he a lot from Damen Lillard and just if Anthony Simons can stay healthy he is the perfect plugin fit for Orlando they can move jayen sugs to shooting guard pretty easily and Robert Williams like I said we got to keep that defensive identity and Robert Williams I think in 2022 he should have won Defensive Player of the Year over Mark smart but he had hurt and that like changed everything the vo him um Robert Williams instantly impacts this defense and this this this trade is a is an Allin trade for Orlando because they’re gonna have to be willing to pay Anthony Simons and Robert Williams that’s basically what this is and they give up young assets and I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t do that um we’re gonna go into free agency now for free agency I want tus Jones our guard play last year I want that to be entirely a thing Marquel FZ you can’t shoot it’s not cutting it Gary Harris he was cool it’s not cutting it you know uh Cole Anthony we’re we’re gonna see what we do with Cole Anthony after this because just I Ty Jones is the best backup guard in the league and we’re we’re gonna go have a 50 4090 backup point guard who was very good and very careful with turnovers and then at our starting point guard we’re adding a guy who could be a Allstar in an fry Simon so our guard rotation is entirely different and jayen sugs he’s a part of our guard rotation now don’t forget he was our point guard last year and he was he was he was cool okay it ain’t like he’s a problem it just him at shooting guard is something that our roster just he’s so versatile that putting him at shooting guard is the best way to utilize him and Spurs of game there’s going to be times where we put him at point guard still still a point guard he’s a combo guard um Luke Canard we’re gonna get him because our spacing man we did not knock down any shots if we can get a cheap Sharpshooter you got to do that Haywood High Smith is another guy he keeps that defensive identity and he shoots pretty well from the field if you could just pay him more than Miami wants to we can steal him from the because he he is a guy who especially in the Eastern Conference he has experien winning he he guarded Jason Tatum for majority of those times where where he’s playing for the Miami Heat um then they love to put him on Tatum and he does a pretty decent job so that’s the team that we’re gonna have to go through if we want to go far in the Eastern Conference so we’re going to extend fron we’re going to close our eyes and give him the max because that’s just what you do with a player like France and jayen sugs I’m guessing I’m guessing I’m not all that well with contracts I’ll admit we’re on weap contracts I’m not all that well but 500 sounds fair to me I don’t know the the percentages go crazy nowadays man who who knows what these guys deserve but fron he’s gonna get whatever he asks so another trade we’re GNA do is we’re gonna move on from Cole Anthony now we got tyus Jes because Cole Anthony yeah he’s cool but like sometimes when I’m I’m watching Cole Anthony like really man you know he he gives me that a lot and and the craziest part is so does Caris ler and it’s like we’re just doing this because we’re we’re buying into our team and this is just position of need and I could either have a streaky point guard next to tyus Jones or a streaky wing you know I I I’ll put a streaky wing next to him it fits our team better um Carris L vert does have capabilities running the point guard Caris L hey some some days he he’s literally like Cole Anthony but for you know and uh Cleveland if they Shuffle around their roster a little bit move on from Darius Garland you know they may want to back up point guard you know we might just and then we we you know Swip Swap Sharpshooters you know Sam ml is a 28 year old Sharpshooter who’s 6’4 and Caleb Houston is a 21y old Sharpshooter who’s 68 in the draft we’re going to go with khil we at pick 18 I think KH wear he fits this Orlando Magic team so well because it’ll be a center that could space out the court a little bit he could he can R protect his his three-point shooting isn’t all that there yet though but he’s super athletic and he he’s similar to windowell cter like that’s a cool little Center to have and we’ll see how much he develops some I would also love Zack Edy for the Orlando Magic Zack Edy on the Orlando Magic would be nasty man but so what CLE aware so whoever’s available between those two guys at Center and then in the second round we’re going bronny James you know Bron get us a backup point guard who if he can knock down his threes may maybe he could turn into Jaylen sus you know like like y’all know what y’all know what could happen if if a somebody who had has a lot of heart and plays defense could have a year with a knockdown day threes you look like that guy right there Jay Su cause let’s go on to our lineup after we just revamped this off season um we gonna have Anthony Simons at Point Jam s at shooting guard France Wagner at small for Apollo at the four and wend Carter at the five that starting lineup has defense between sugs Wagner B Cara and Carter and it’s the same defense from last year the only thing that’s changing in the starting Lem is Anthony Simons for Gary Harris and if you watched the Orlando Magic last year you would say that they needed shot creation and three-point shooting and that’s what they’re getting right there and a playmaker they’re getting everything they needed in that starting lineup on the bench they’re GNA have tus Jones from Marquel and that improves their space that improves their playmaking and just tyus Jones is just better than Marquel F that that’s the point of the NBA we’re at luk Canard he’s gonna be another spacer Sam Rell spacer Brony James are random second round pick you know um Carris levers the the guy we just trading for as a wing who like I said we we had a bunch of guards so Cole Anthony kind of didn’t you know like unfortunately we got Ty Jones when we moved on and if anything happens to Ty Jones we could just have Jen sucks you know we don’t want to have four really good point guards um hey with heith he’s gonna be a guy who comes in and just three and d three and d and and that’s all you got to be because he’s really good uh same thing with Jonathan Isaac Elite three and D like these guys Robert Williams this defense is crazy this defense is still crazy this is a team that could win the Eastern Conference this is a team that could match up with the Boston Celtics um if this team stays healthy I think this year they matched up well against the Celtics I think they would have took Boston More Than more than five games this team the Orlando Magic when they played the Boston Celtics in the regular season it was some good games it was some good games at the magic W and and it seemed like they were a Kryptonite because both of these teams are built pretty similar and if and if we add on anony Simons and and the nice bench hey scary hours in Orlando but yeah that would be what I’d do if I was the GMO the Orlando Magic this is my blueprint hey if you think I built a team that could in a championship and you’re
