The Toronto Raptors will target..

how’s it going how’s it going Toronto Raptor fans today we’re going to be talking about 20 players that the Toronto Raptors should could and probably will Target this is going to include all players under 25 including three players who are draft eligible this year now as I’m ranking these players out please understand that I am not saying that player one is better than player two or Player Two Is Better Than player 15 what I am basically trying to assess is this is a player that you should put some time into targeting which means that player 20 may be player 20 because they’re just not available I’ve tried to exclude any players that are considered Stars I’m not including Paulo banero France Wagner you know I’m not even including guys like Jaylen Suggs I’m not including key starters and key role players the vast majority of these players are either first or second year players who I feel haven’t really gotten an opportunity around the NBA but maybe have flashed some interesting development upside or maybe their third or fourth year players that I think are maybe just in the wrong situation it could also include a free agent eligible player who happens to be an uned free agent like Nick Claxton who I think was just in a really bad situation in Brooklyn last year but could be available via free agency and then of course as the afor mentioned I will talk about three draft picks a little for warning obviously there’s a lot of defensive prospects here I did look to two-way versatility there’s only like two players I think that don’t really fit that mold but that’s because they’re scoring Acumen and upside is just that promising towards the end of this live I will definitely talk at length about those three draft prospects because I think that they are three names that I don’t often see connected to the Raptors in the mainstream media but looking at them and getting to know them a little bit over the last couple of weeks through interviews I think that they are definitely the types of players that the Raptors will Target on draft night so I would expect one of those three guys to be pick at either 31 or 19 uh also to those of you been waiting hey Rob when’s the mock draft coming out the mock draft’s not coming out I’m going to do a big board instead I don’t like mock drafts I’m going to do a big board I’m going to do a Raptor’s Big Board it’s not as popular it’s not going to be as mainstream because you’re not going to have a whole bunch of Houston fans and Lakers fans commenting on it it’s just going to be specifically to the Raptors and it’s going to be based on how I think the Raptors will evaluate from 1 through 60 and I think that it will be a pretty good and pretty comprehensive draft guide for anyone who has been keeping up with the draft best should come out this weekend I’m still putting on the final final touches I really wanted to make that video good so you know it’s it’s taking a long time so you know I hope you guys will watch it and enjoy it when it comes out um and also just a little heads up uh we will be doing a Live party for the draft on Thursday so and THS Thursday and Friday so both rounds Thursday we’re going to do a live Friday we’re going to do a live still haven’t figured out exactly how we’re going to stream it um but we will get the live reaction we’ll have Callins we’ll do all that stuff if you’ve been around this channel long enough you know that we did this last year with the draft as well and it was really fun we had like 600 people so if you’re looking to connect with fellow Raptor fans and you’re looking to have either a collective celebration or a collective meltdown definitely tune in for the draft we’ll be Lo we going live about an hour before the draft each day so that we can offer a bit of a primer and then we can watch it together all right without further Ado let me just get through some of my um honorable mentions my honorable mentions are AJ Griffin from the Atlanta Hawks I think he had a really rough year last year honestly three players on this list would be Atlanta Hawks and I just don’t know where the Hawks are as an organization right now as a front office there’s a lot of flux but if they are looking to move off of any of these three players which is AJ Griffin Ona kongu and uh Kobe buffkin I’ll be interested uh very much you know as long as the asking price is not crazy high but I think there was rumors a couple years ago that you know Ono was virtually Untouchable for them and right now I’m thinking he fits a lot of needs for the Shaun Raptors as a backup big um also Isaiah Jackson from the Indiana Pacers I think would also be an honorable mention on this list um I will also include assar Thompson I know he’s probably not available as a second-year player for the for the Detroit Pistons uh he had a really tough shooting year the Pistons had a really tough year with a new front office you don’t know how they feel about him there were a lot of talk about you know how do the pieces fit around Kate Cunningham I’m assuming that they still feel very positively voou but I wonder if long term they think that assar is not the long-term wing and maybe instead of going two years in they panic and they’re just like hey let’s just get rid of him after one year I really like him as a player as a prospect and if he’s available for like a future first round pick or something like that if they’re willing to dive on it I’m willing to bet on his athletic upside and Darko and Jama and their ability to develop like I’m willing to take in an assar Thompson happily I I know a lot of Pistons fans who are pretty sour on him I’m not one of those people that sour on him I think he has a tremendous amount of upside let me check some comments here before we get started here draft show rage is fun for sure sure James saying Malik monk for under 80 million is a great deal yeah and I wonder if uh it will set a uh very very interesting thing um you mean Wednesday and Thursday am I am I wrong about the draft date hold on I got to check this this it’s June 26th and June 27th what am I missing is that Wednesday and Thursday or or Thursday and Friday it’s Wednesday and Thursday okay cool okay so that’s what I meant Wednesday and Thursday my bad do anyone who who caught me saying Thursday and Friday my bad okay even better even less time okay so let’s let’s get to this okay so I’ve tried to rank these as I said in order so I believe there’s 17 here let me just double count here one 2 three four five six 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 okay boom uh okay number 17 Santi Alo look man I I think there is some potential here for uh Santi to be moved uh from Memphis they have a lot of players they have a draft pick they at number nine could the Raptors maybe move up to number nine and trade something could Santio dama be involved I think that um you know this is a player that has that modern big prototype like I mean if you look at his numbers I think there’s like a good case to be made that he’s a much better player than he was in year one there’s also the case to be made that if anyone knows knows how good he can be it’s probably Darko rakovich because he did end up coaching him for a bit um I’m going to remove this pen basketball logo off the screen because I’m realizing that it might be getting in the way of what you guys are seeing here so let me just get this out of the way there boom okay sorry we don’t want to let Brandon get in the way of basketball so yeah so I think his numbers are pretty promising uh again it’s usually a good omen if by year two or year three that a player flashes positive box plus minus he had a pretty rapid gross in year two the Memphis gries were a bit of a mess in year three but I do think that you know his true shooting percentage dipping and everything was largely due to you know just a more expanded role with less with less around him and I think when you’re putting him next to you know if he’s the third best player on on on the court I think he’s going to struggle but if he’s the fourth or fifth best player I think he has a lot more success so I would really be for a trade for Santi Alama especially if the stock is not very high um number 16 is Anthony black now this is a top six pick from last year’s draft I just talked about AAR Thompson who was a fifth pick it’s very rare for teams to move off of a draft pick this early but it’s not impossible and like he didn’t get a ton of minutes for them last year and I think that you know for whatever it’s worth there was a lot of shooting questions coming in he shot about 39% from three 39.4% from three on pretty okay volume but like low volume uh four to four three-point attempts per 100 possessions but he did not have a very good offensive impact at all on the court including his negative 3.8 offensive box plus minus I think a lot of this is just created by situation the Orlando Magic do not have a lot of space I think he’s a pretty good passer man I really do I think he’s a he’s a fairly good passer and I think he gets to the line he’s very physical he may not be an expanded or you know very Dynamic offensive player at this point but I think he’ll get there and as a backup like in terms of portability like I know he’s he’s according to crafted ranked ninth percentile in terms of portability but I think eventually he will become a very portable and very versatile player with incredible incredible defensive upside his motor is intense I don’t know if he’s available but if at some point the Toronto Raptors you know do decide to use some cap space and you know they’re making a deal with the Orlando Magic and they take back a bad contract or something like that if they could add him in I would add future first Galore for this guy like I mean I I’m not saying Galore like three first round picks or whatever but I would add the 2026 Indiana pick I would probably even move off the 19th pick in this year’s draft and I’ll probably add something else as well I think he’s very very good I just think he’s very not getable so that’s why he’s very low on this list but I think he fits another guy who’s very low on this list but I love him is Keon Ellis um signed a steal of a deal with the Sacramento Kings and as you can see his crafted Analytics are absolutely insane he is a 95th percenti Defender according to crafted and he wasn’t too bad offensively either his true shooting percentage is ridiculous shot quality is great three-point attempt rate I mean he’s a pretty he’s pretty much a sniper at this point 41% on pretty good Volume last year he including started 21 games for the Kings I see no indication the Kings would ever move off this guy but with Malik monk now signed Kevin herder you know Kevin herder probably on the move I mean this is a guy that’s probably very ungettable right but the problem with guys with small contracts is at some point you do have to resign them they lose value as you go his value as a as a you know as an asset right now is probably like a first round pick um would I move up the 19th pick to get Keon Ellis right now I think it’s very difficult for me to imagine a situation in which you’re going to get a better player better player than him at 19 so you know why would the Kings do it they wouldn’t do it so it’s just it’s just complete [ __ ] to even have him on this list he’s not getting moved he’s a really good young player and maybe this should be a model for the type of player that the Raptor should Target now everyone else on this list is getable the first you know the the first two of the first three guys were very ungettable assar Thompson’s probably very ungettable but I think tyar een might be getable and I think Ty een is the type of uh you know young player that the Raptors really should Target if ever they are going to get a guy like this right in terms of defensive impact I think he has like like all defensive type of impact potential down the line at just 22 years old he’s gotten better at a lot of things offensively you know his greatest skill is obviously as an offensive rebounder he crashes the glass he has an incredible motor but with the dir of wings and young players in Houston with them wanting to win could tar be the odd man out right you got a men Thompson you got you know you shoot you got cam Whitmore Jabari Smith Jaylen green you got so many guys he’s seems to always be like that guy who’s like just on the outside of that conversation and I think he’s better than probably at least two of those guys so hey a Super Chat Blake D with a super chat appreciate you man thank you so much for this um another Super Chat here D damus Prime what did you think of the bulls and thunder trade um I can give you like my 10-sec Snapshot here uh but actually my my biggest suggestion to you would be to flash back to my previous video I talked about it I think it was the first thing I talked about in the previous video um yeah thank you so much for for this okay Sheran thanks always man for being like this sort of community Ambassador appreciate you doing that man Mt saying I promise you tar e is not getable I mean I get what you’re saying but at the same time you know you’re going to have to extend all these guys like look at what look at what the Thunder just went through right they traded Josh gidy now you could argue Josh giddy is you know trash Josh giddy’s this Josh giddy’s that he’s not he’s not any of those things Josh giddy was a positive box minus guy in his third year he’s not a bad player at all he just didn’t fit in with what Thunder were doing and long term if you’re going to commit Max dollars to three guys you’re not going to be able to commit Max dollars to fourth guy right and instead of getting into a situation like the Knicks are a great example of a team that approached restricted free agency with em manual quickly you don’t think the Knicks like manual quickly of course they liked em manual quickly they loved manual quickly a lot so did the fan base the problem was you approach a certain point where a guy is so good that he exceeds the amount that you can afford him at right I think the Raptors went through something very similar with OG OG and Pascal where it’s like the value of these guys to other teams is going to determine the value that you have to match right so at some point tar een is probably going to command a $22 million offer sheet like I’m willing to bet he’s going to get paid $22 million someone is going to see the value at which point I think if you are the Houston Rockets facing down a potential cam Whitmore extension the year after or Jabari Smith the year after that if you’re looking at those guys down the line you’re like shoot will our abil you know will US signing tari een potentially Jam a up but I agree he’s pretty low on my list here largely because I do not think um denish saying what made you clean shave for today’s live pretty sure I clean shave two days ago man but thanks for noticing all right moving on from the tar een talk nikovic another guy that you may think is probably pretty ungettable I’m hearing that this may be the last year for Jimmy Butler and Miami so this is interesting um you know going full rebuild imagine trading one of your better young players but again this is a player that if you want to think long term and again don’t think target now I’m thinking Target period nikovic will eventually be a restrictive free agent okay if the Raptors do not use their cap space this summer they will have cap space next summer at which point you can do to the Miami Heat what potentially PE people are saying someone will do to us this summer with with Emanuel quickly which is you can sign him to to an offer sheet right at which point you I guess you’ll test how much you really like Nico yic or you’ll really test the Houston Rockets to see how much you really like T een these are not immediate targets these are guys that I think what I would like our community to to start looking at these players a little bit more closely when they’re on TV right these are guys that I think fit in with what the rappers are trying to build it doesn’t mean you’re going to trade for them next next week it just means at some point down the line if you’re trading with one of these teams this is what I would ask for moving on uh well let me just continue with Nico yic so in terms of yic you know the the true shooting percentage has has been a bit of a revelation you know from year 1 to year two there was a bit of a snap up from 53% True shooting to 58% I really like that and obviously the three-point shooting volume is insanity uh you know to take nine threes a game at per possessions at nearly 40% is such a rare and incredible skill set for him uh shot quality is not bad and defensively a hell of a lot better cor are crafted than most people would expect looking at him think he was a very serviceable Team Defender um Alex saying this team needs more vets not more young players fully completely disagree all right moving on Anthony Simons a player that I have been not iously [ __ ] on for years for his absolutely atrocious defense honestly if You’ watched the Portland game you realize that this is the worst defender in the NBA he might just be one of the worst Defenders I’ve ever seen in my life period he’s bad I don’t know how much of that is chony bips I don’t know how much of that is coaching but physically when you look at him he shouldn’t be one of the worst defenders in the league so I think that’s a conversation worth having offensively though completely different question right this is the epitome of a sixthman of the Year going forward right maybe over leverage as a starter but if you see him as a spark plug Off the Bench this is everything like this is the best case of what people think Rob Dillingham could be you know my honest opinion he’s a bigger Rob Dillingham and you want to get ahead of that right now and you want to assure and he’s a better Rob Dillingham like I’m just being real about it like Anthony Simons can do everything Rob Dillingham can do he’s just bigger he’s just as bad defensively but he’s a proven commodity at $25 million a year would Portland want to move off of him with scoot Henderson plus you know um you know whatever they’re doing in this year’s draft with with a you know with a top pick you know with Shaden sharp coming up like like do they want to go a little bit younger than even him right because he’s just 24 years old does he fit in in a backourt with scoot Henderson do they do they maybe see moving off of him in a package with Jeremy Grant so this is a player where I think if you can IM imagine him as your starting point guard you’re screwed but if you imagine him as your backup guard or a Jamal Crawford type or a Lou Williams type off your bench I think this is a guy who can anchor scoring for you in a really big way his shot quality is absolutely insane yes he does not play defense but he also doesn’t take a lot of bad shots ah jarus Walker again a guy that I don’t think is really getable right now but if he struggles next year in Indiana for whatever reason I mean maybe just maybe he might be available right you already have a relationship with Indiana this was the player I wanted back in a past gyakum trade more than than anything more than Andrew neard more than anything I wanted this guy back because he fits in with what the Raptors like to do a lot he’s positionally versatile he has an incredible defensive feel for the game he has a good offensive feel for the game as well he’s really skilled for a guy his size I think eventually he’ll be able to guard fives fours and threes there are actually a couple draft prospects that remind me a little bit of him maybe not as good as him but they have things in common with him so I really like him and of course when he hits your free agency if maybe that Pascal seakan contract comes back and bites them because someone might offer him you know 25 million at that point and who knows what they’ll be able to do at that point so if the Raptors don’t take on a lot of long-term salary this is maybe a Target two years from now in free agency okay Moses Moody all right a guy that you know was Scotty’s teammate at M ver maybe hasn’t had nearly the impact that people thought he would in Golden State so far but he is one of their better young players with alongside try Jackson AV and Brandon Pinsky excuse me one second um look he hasn’t he hasn’t been much defensively I get that but he still possesses that 7 foot one wingspan I think he’s decent defensively he has great positional versatility he can guard two three positions easily I think he can even guard up to four um his true shooting percentage has come a long way you know um in his second year but he had a bit of a regression in his third year but regardless 58% true shooting for for the year for his career so far last year was the first year that he actually had a positive value of a replacement his role also expanded he played you know uh 300 more minutes last year than he had the previous year so every single year they’re building him up building him up and he’s getting better overall he’s getting better last year his usage was also up to 18% which is a far cry from 14.6% the year before per 100 possessions we are seeing more volume you know we’re seeing a better player overall I think this is the type of player who’s a ticking Time Bomb like I think he’s a about to pop pop pop in a big way at some point you’re going to see him have like a Jordan Clarkson or you know I’m not saying Jordan Clarkson as a player comp but I mean like you know it kind of came out of nowhere Jordan P you know uh Colin seon bounce back year you know like just a guy who kind of comes out and he just takes over a position and he just comes out as a starting small forward and you know you see him in training camp you’re like that’s a starting small forward so you know they have Andrew Wiggins this is the first player the really I’m talking about where I’m just like this is fully get I think he’s fully get if I I would take back Andrew wigan’s contract to take a flyer on Moses Moody I think Moses is probably a player that I prefer to Josh giddy even if I agree that Josh giddy is more talented or whatever um Denise saying do you think you can fleece the Bulls for Kobe white it’s it it’s not k o it’s C uh and no we cannot um but again Kobe white is a perfect example you think of Kobe white differently now now because of the opportunity he got in light of you know Lonzo getting injured but would you think of Kobe white the same way a year before no you wouldn’t right so Mike saying Wiggins and Moody uh for booce all day yeah something like that that that would be great like I I think he’s enough of an upside play for me to take on Andrew wiggin’s contract not a lot to say here honestly um just a little bit of insight that I got from you know a trainer that I really trust no not Scotty’s trainer another trainer that I really trust and he just kept talking about Drew Peterson he’s just like Drew Peterson’s going to be really good Drew Peterson’s gonna be amazing I watched some of his college tape couple days ago he plays for the Boston Celtics currently he did not play a ton of minutes for the Boston Celtics I think he played like 23 minutes all year for them am I am I correct in saying that uh he play yeah he played 23 minutes for them last year um just a guy to look out for honestly he is on a two-way deal he will be a restricted free agent um I believe next year if I’m not mistaken or is it this summer is he he’s a he he’s a a restrictive fre agent this summer so could this be a guy that you just I don’t know sign to a $6 million offer sheet and show some faith I don’t know but I I would think about it a lot now we got Cole Anthony Cole Anthony is a player that I have been so low on uh for most of my my life but I think with the Raptors needing a a backup guard you know in the worst way I think he is the type of player that you can Target and he’s fairly fairly compensated um his Advanced stats are awesome like the last three years has been positive value over replacement last two years been positive box house minus he’s pretty impactful guy um you know in terms of three-point shooting volume it’s it’s not the greatest but at 7.5 um you know like maybe three-point shooting is that one swing skill where like if he gets to 38% three-point shooting which is certainly in the realm of possibilities given that he is a smart player um you know his shot quality has been good his shooting has been bad 50 54% you know true shooting is not great um but I think like he offers enough competitively as a as a Defender he’s pesky he’s energetic gets a ton of deflections you know um he’s athletic as well like he’s sneaky athletic so I think this is a guy that maybe you know um you see as he’s definitely like a top eight to top nine guy in your rotation and I think that he could be really good um Mark Morrow saying I bought 30 Ro a Scotty rookie cards this week one Auto out of 25 and bought 51 base rookie grades cool Alex saying Cole sucks yeah I don’t think he he sucks man I think he’s he’s okay he’s he doesn’t excite me as a starting guard but as a backup guard he’s he’s pretty great um next up Josh Minot um a Scotty guy you know a guy that you know there’s some connections there uh I think he is just incredible defensively again buried a little bit on that Minnesota roster but I can see some of the groundwork for him becoming a pretty good player um it’s just has been unfortunate he was a second round pick not a ton of opportunity right I mean he only played I mean he’s played 187 minutes throughout his entire career so there’s a little bit of like what are you really getting from him but again this is one of those like behind the gra Vine people talking people who who do runs with him and stuff and um I think he could be a really really big boom candidate for somebody down the line all right next one up Ryan D from Virginia all right I don’t know what’s going on my throat right now okay okay so Ryan D out of Virginia and this is the first draft eligible player I’m going to talk about okay I’m like absolutely Los my voice hold on one sec Too Many Lives I don’t know okay so Ryan dun again I didn’t feel too excited about him as I was thinking about him as a small forward Prospect I was like there’s a lot of holes in this game offensively but as I mentioned the other day started thinking more about him as a four five going forward you know could he add some bulk there and I think there’s a lot of wings that maybe are very physical very athletic and you’re like I don’t know about them being Wing creators but man if I could if they could bulk up and be bigs this could be interesting right and and that’s kind of like the Draymond mold even the tar een mold and I think Ryan Dunn defensively could be you know allor you know type of Defender right like just on day one his screen navigation positional versatility like he really could be that herb Jones type of Defender right and offensively just a really good cutter really smart so I think this is a this is a play for the Raptors at 31 ah Nick Nick Claxton um you know his his uh his analytic Splash that he is definitely a top five to top six guy in a good rotation like on a good team he could be he could be one of the six best players on a good team the reality of Nick Claxton right now is he’s probably going to get overpaid right it’s the same situation with Isaiah Isaiah hartenstein this isn’t the strongest free agency class especially with certain guys like Moses Moody and sorry not Moses Moody wow who am I thinking about God damn it we were just talking about him wow brain fart Malik monk um okay Malik monk going back to Sacramento right you got Malik monk going back to Sacramento you got Pascal Zak going back to Indiana so I mean it’s getting weaker right so Nick CLA in a really weird situation despite being a fourthe fifth year player now he is in the unique position he bet on himself and he is an to free agent which means as of last week or whenever the finals ended time is flying at weird Pace right now uh the Nets have been able to negotiate with him I don’t get the feeling that they are looking to put 30 million on the table for him and I do believe that he will sense that there will be offers for him outside of that range that will be good there are teams like OKC that could really use him and I think he would fit in so beautifully know casy if they can free up the space and they actually have the space right San Antonio is another great place for him um I don’t know about his fit with Jaylen Duran but you know there are teams out there that could really really go crazy and start offering him you know 30 million that being said um if the Raptors do end up with space and ogan and Obi is not an option this might be a guy that I would throw $25 million at if the long-term goal is moving off of yaka purle I’m not necessarily sold on the idea of him being a $25 million year guy which is why I might take a Target at his backup which is Dron sharp again Scotty teammate M ver again that connection but I think sometimes you know bad situations mean certain players get underrated and quietly but surely last year he had his best season ever he played twice as many minutes he took that negative -2.8 box minus turned it into a negative -2.3 turned it into a z I think he is on the come up I think he could be a starting center down the line he’s just 22 years old big men do take a while I think this is a guy that I would Target like ruthlessly he’s really this high on my list for a reason I watched a bit of him last year I watched a little bit more tape of him prior to this video uh from last year I’m seeing a player who’s just way better and he’s just getting better and better every year now I’m moving into my top three my number three is Dyson Daniels there’s nothing that I can say about Dyson that I haven’t already said I mean he is just a really smart player who has some physical advantages and some physical gifts he is also according to crafted at this very tender age of 20 years old a 94th percentile defender in the NBA he is a limited offensive player his shooting Is Not Great his shot quality generation half court creation you know um ability to isolate pick and roll ball handling situations there’s not a lot offensively that you’re like oh that’s great but he is a great passer so he is a great connector to put it lightly Dyson Daniels is the player that Scotty Barnes was supposed to be coming out of the draft right a really all defense quote unquote zero level scorer right but I think that the scoring will come I really do I think that he can become a corner shooter I think the the intelligence and the passing will always make him like a good short roll passer and connective pass and I think if he’s your fifth player also it just so happens that he’s a great point of attack Defender who can really navigate around screens and he also has that positional versatility where he can guard up and down positions so he can guard the one the two the three the four and he can do a really good job of it he’s also extremely coachable and this is another one of those players where I just have a lot of insight from people who are close to him about what the stuff that he does which is why I’ve been high on him for three years and this is just a player that I trust long term is going to be like one of the top 100 players in the NBA right now he plays behind herb Jones he plays behind Zion he plays behind you know CJ McCollum he’s playing behind so many play players he’s playing behind Trey Murphy honestly I love every single player that he might be playing behind Jordan Hawkins soon enough and at some point you know you’re gonna think about the prioritization of Brandon Ingram and Canon Williamson and if Brandon Ingram has not moved this off season then even more so you’re going to be thinking what the prioritization of putting guys around those guys that are you know good for those guys and sometimes you’re going to think about spacing and you know I worry if a guy like D Daniels might fall outside that key pecking order right especially if Jordan Hawkins takes another big step up and I understand the value of Jordan I love Jordan as y all know who followed me in the draft last year I wanted the Raptors to pick up Jordan Hawkins I I like Jordan Hawkins a lot but that being said Dyson Daniels is a different level of prospect in terms of defensive upside I really I’m not kidding I think this guy can be a defensive player of the year one day so you know if you like Drew holiday you like you know Derek white or whatever like Dyson’s on that level defensively just he’s for and just taller so I would put this guy firmly up there I would trade multiple firsts for him I’ll say it again and again and again until I’m blew in the face I’m leading the Dyson Daniels fan club number two Jonathan mogbo wow okay this is high as hell and I expect that if Jonathan Mugo is on the board at 31 the Tron Raptors are drafting him um over the last 48 hours this is one player that I wanted to do a really really big deep dive into and I wanted to just watch some of his tape to it was hard to access but even some of his younger you know days and honestly just a really weird Prospect uh went through Community College before ending up at Missouri State then San Francisco this one year at San Francisco but then you got to think about who players were before they got to this level right because context matters coaching matters I mean you know these guys are not Zion Williamson and AR bar where they’re going into a system where they have a lot of authorship over the type of role they’re going to have or how many threes they get to take or whatever you know sometimes these guys are just going to D1 and their coach is saying you can’t shoot threes and this is where you’re on the court and you got to ask yourself you know who has this player been right good example is drik Lively right Derrik Lively if you watch drick Lively in a you saw Derrick Lively taking threes right but if you watch Derrik livley at Duke no threes right he was just a great Rim Runner so when you draft him you’re thinking you’re getting getting a rim Runner but if you watch him in a you see guard skills and you see shooting and then suddenly you turn on the NBA finals in game four and he’s hitting a three from the corner and you’re like holy [ __ ] where the [ __ ] this come from and that’s exactly what it is you got to understand the prospect fully to understand Jonathan mogbo fully is to understand the defensive versatility the toughness the basketball IQ the passing the ball handling you know and and the shooting upside there is some shooting upside here I’m not I’m not suggesting he’s going to be a SN ER but do not believe that he’s going to be a pure non shooter and I do believe that Jonathan mwell could be really one of the top 10 players in this draft long term I have a streaky suspicion now this is going to sound real crazy but y’all see like every single year there’s like a player that goes like 15 to 25 spots higher than everyone expects them to like I remember um 2003 draft of Dwayne Wade right I think he went to he went to five in Miami because the Miami Heat wanted Chris Bosch the Raptors picked up Chris Bosch at 4 that was that was expected right but there was some talk you know maybe the Raptors don’t go BOS maybe they go Ford and so the Miami Heat ended up going for the guy they like the most which is Dwayne Wade who was number five on their big board I don’t think the Miami Heat will ever admit this or Pat rley will ever admit this but they have Bosch higher than Wade on their on their draft board they did a lot to to you know make sure that they got Chris Bosch so long story short Chris B you know Chris Bosch went four and then Dwayne Wade flew up draft boards a lot of people who thought you know dwade was going to go top 15 top 16 in that draft and then suddenly couple weeks before the draft you started to hear rumors that he was moving up you know Anthony Bennett was another guy who who went like 10 spots higher than he was supposed to 12 spots higher than he was supposed to it happens you know once in a while it happens Jaylen Williams uh for the OKC Thunder I think that caught a lot of people off guard Bruno kaboko a guy that a lot of people didn’t even have top 60 and the Raptors took him at 20 so I’m saying it sometimes happens where a guy goes just a lot higher than people looks back to me everyone is caught off guard like what the [ __ ] and it’s usually something like this right it’s usually a guy who comes from a very weird path and you know maybe is a bit of an underrated Prospect who went to a smaller school and I think Jonathan mogbo honestly like people ask me like you know a couple days ago like what’s the highest he can go I’m like 12 12 to the Thunder this be the highest that I could see him going and you may say I’m crazy but I really do think he’s in play for the Thunder at 12 and I think he could also be in play for the for the Raptors at even 19 if if the right things you know if the wrong if the wrong players fall off the board but if at 31 he’s there and Zach ‘s there and you know you got a whole bunch of guards maybe that are there and maybe uh you know you got Trenton flowers and I think he’s a pick man I really do I I think uh you know long term I see a starter right like a fifth starter I think he could be cavon Looney meets you know Draymond right there’s there’s a lot of that in his game right he talks about watching Scotty Barnes and and he’s obviously really good friends with Scotty he’s been to Canada I believe I’m not mistaken Jonathan uh was with Scotty when when he and the boys went to uh went to Montreal if yall remember that a couple summers ago so you know he’s familiar with Canada he’s familiar with Scotty and he’s a really smart player he’s a really good kid too like really humble you know and I think his freshman season really [ __ ] him over really um you know and he was kind of playing in phone booth right like not sorry that’s the wrong statement but like not playing in a phone booth but I think he was very limited in terms of what he was able to do you know and and again like expressive right like very expressive person and and very emotionally invested in his craft and his game and he’s not trying to be like some bum right like he’s got a lot of Pride and a lot of Professional Pride he puts in work um to get better so this is a player that I think the Raptor should absolutely Target he fits in a lot of needs he’s probably going to need need a year in the 905 but maybe not like maybe not this is a guy who could come in NBA ready you know physically he’s already NBA ready we saw with Grady last year sometimes that’s the big hurdle physically he’s a great screener great roller great passer you know um I think he’ll eventually become a pretty good above the break and Corner shooter uh he’s an incredible offensive rebounder so he already does these NBA things and it’s just like okay well you know he’s actually a really good ball handler as well if you’re playing him at Center if you’re playing him as a wing maybe you wonder a little bit about the mobility the shiftiness you know the expansion of the of the ball handling and the scoring package what can he really do in the mid-range and all that stuff quickness athleticism but man if he’s a big like if he’s a center and and is certainly not out of the r of possibilities he’s a small ball Center this is the type of stuff that like you’d be surprised this guy doesn’t become an Allstar number one he’s mey okay yeah again you know you’re going to hear me harp about this guy some more but seriously I think his athletic potential is off the charts I think you know his finishing needs work passing needs work but new to basketball you just don’t get 610 611 players who move this way very often and again the only question with him that I had when I was going to going through his tape and then eventually went into the draft cycle was does he care does he care about basketball does he care about getting better once I once I figured out that he cares about basketball and he’s a competitive dude that was it that was it for me right um again you’re just not supposed to be able to move like this when you’re six 66′ 10 you know like his fluidity is is just very interesting and I understand a lot of people you know have sold themselves on Don homes and and some other some other bigs you know K wear there’s a lot of bigs in this draft where you’re like okay I I could I could definitely see that guy fitting into what the Raptors want to do the Raptors have a hole they don’t have any young bigs on their roster because Christian Koko and jont Porter didn’t work out this is the guy to me this is the guy and worst case scenario he’s going to become Nick Claxton best case scenario he’s going to become a better you know Pascal SE yakum right so I I would I would you know Target him over everything 41 minutes in that’s that’s kind of my that’s my Spiel those are the players that I would really Target let me know in the comments below what what what players maybe I missed what players that I talked about that you would Target um Terence Davis H saying IO is our guy perfect three and D point guards Target we got to develop part though um interesting we we we targeted iio last summer so you’re not wrong um Leonard Miller that is that is definitely a player that that should be on this list yes um Jonathan mopo could very likely be on the board at 31 is sort of another shot at precious he is definitely not precious a Chua my guy he’s not precious AA I mean take a look at his per 100 numbers for a second and just like imagine like the type of player we’re talking about dude like in at Missouri State he averaged four like he averaged three blocks per 100 possessions with 18 rebounds right at San Francisco last year okay just to put this into perspective right I understand a lot of people complain small school you know not not the not the biggest school whatever fine an 11.1 box plus minus seven seven assists 20 20 rebounds um and 28 points per 100 possessions I mean dear God right this is like one of those players where you know he falls to 31 and for 25 years people wonder how the [ __ ] did that happen and it’s just because he’s older he’s older you know he’s he’s a prospect who’s had a sort of messy path up until now people are somewhat dubious of that they prefer a certain Rhythm to prospects you know you’re a freshman you’re highly recruited you go to Duke you go to Kansas you go to Kentucky you go to whatever and then you come out and then we draft you when you’re 19 that’s how people like it you know when you go Joo route College you know Community College you you bounce around between two three programs everyone has this sort of like subconscious especially if you come from West Palm Beach or Englewood or you know one of those areas um you know if you’re expressive you know that personality type like people are like NBA teams are not looking for you know players who have a lot of personality in these spots right they’re looking for yes sir no sir type of players and so I think Jonathan mopo could be like a really really good player at 31 man I’d be very surprised if he’s there and the Raptors pass on him shocked actually Ron Holland yes that would be another player um um okay so yes E Mei is very turnover prone very foul prone but also I don’t necessarily hold this against him at this point you know he’s an extremely aggressive and assertive player he has not been playing basketball for very long um so I think that those things lend themselves to that um Mei reminds me of Jay and dur but I understand why you think that but honestly I don’t see it completely because Jaylen Duran’s a completely different type of athlete I also think e has like way way more like fluidity potential like I’m not seeing jayen Duran taking a guy off the three-point line but once e me’s um ball handling develops a little bit more I could see him taking like a guard off the dribble sometimes it’s just about seeing what isn’t there right now and projecting what what could be with a little bit more reps and in E Mei I see a I see a wing you know like a wing player with with with big potent like with whenever I see size to skill ratio like I get very excited right so it’s why I’m I’m getting really high in modus balis right it’s why I’m high on e m is because these guys are bigger but they have certain skills and certain fluidity that is very rare for players their size which can eventually make them incredibly hard to guard once they get a Little Bit Stronger right I really should also have put Trey Murphy on this list I think he’s amazing all right we got coach Mo coach Mo what up what’s up my man um one name I just did not like Simons I’m I’m good bro I’m good yeah I understand that but it depends on it depend okay would you trade Bruce Brown for him how many years is in that Simon contract so let’s I think it’s like two more years at 25 million bit or is it three more years cause let’s see what it says here uh Simons it’s guaranteed no options in 25 26 okay so yeah this year and then the year after at 27 I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world but yeah so I’m saying like if if you if if they wanted to just get off the contract for whatever reason let’s just say they’re crazy and they just want to move move in a younger Direction they they already got like I mean they’re they they’re a luxury tax team which is [ __ ] crazy right they got Malcolm Brockton Robert Williams I should have thrown Rob Williams on this list there’s a lot of players I should have thrown on this list yeah he just never plays so there’s no point like he’s not getting healthier as he gets older he’s not he can barely see on the court as a young guy it has been tough for him for sure but but I’m saying like at at 25 million I’m not necessarily against it I also think like if you’re going to bet on upside and maybe a player getting better maybe you can make him a slightly better Defender I’m never saying he’s going to be a good Defender but maybe he can be a slightly better one also I’ve been pretty like high on guys like nicoa toic and he’s not a great defender either so I don’t know I’m I’m just understanding the value of shooting and and and scoring in the NBA for sure it’s just my at his price tag it’s like okay so you have him which is better than what we have coming off the bench from the one or two right now right but okay then you have him but you you’re basically replacing Gary you’re replacing Gary shaky Defender RJ and IQ aren’t World beaters right that’s our that’s our back court right so it’s like more stress for Scotty and yakob sure you know what I mean and it’s like but I mean you make up for it all their places I don’t think Grady has to be necessarily terrible defensively Emanuel quickle is competent defensively so it’s really um it’s really RJ who who hopefully can get better you know um look I’m for it I’m for it like I understand not super high but like yeah yeah yeah he’s the one I didn’t like um and the thing but if he was if he was a good Defender he’d be ungettable he would be like aaji but the opposite but more expensive because offense is worth more he’s like yeah like I mean to me it would be like it would be like you know those offense defensive Subs half our roster is offense defensive Subs the problem is you don’t have the Defenders to to sub in yeah exactly you know what I mean um but I like your thinking on een that’s a great idea I always liked um yovic from the heat always loved him um Dron sharp was a great idea that one I love it because it’s like get him before the come up oh yeah right whole thing right now you want to be on the ground floor of one of these deals because I remember when um Indiana Pacers traded Dale Davis to get jine O’Neal and it was because jine O’Neal was like buried on the Portland bench and I always remember thinking like damn that’s cool because that’s a second time the Portland Trailblazers traded away a future Allstar because they were too deep right because they who Rand Zack Randol I think another one no they they kept Zack Randol Zack Randol was was pretty big for them um they eventually traded Zach Rand because they wanted to clear their um they wanted to clear their rep because they had the jail yeah exactly it was it was Jan Petrovic so they had Jan petrovich playing third string and he went on to become borderline Allstar then they had um Germaine O’Neal playing third string behind Rasheed Wallace Brian Grant you know all those guys and he went on to become so I’m looking for that guy I’m looking for that guy who’s like a second or third string Guy where it’s like okay move him up to rot that’s where D I’m second string occasionally star whatever if I put this guy next to Scotty and RJ and you know if I just put him in the role that that OG would play if we don’t get OG like if I just put him in that OG role yeah the Raptors might struggle offensively but this guy’s going to be first team or second Team all defense because he’s going to rack up steals he’s going to rack up Blocks he’s going to be like all in the gaps he’s going to be doing crazy stuff so I just think with him it’s opportunity and he’s not getting that opportunity in New World right I’m just I’m watching the finals and it’s like I’m seeing Al Horford spread the floor but also has the ability to attack Closeouts and if there’s a small guy on him he can post up he’s like super versatile now obviously that dude was like a perennial Allstar in the East before he aged out of it but I’m looking at someone like een or yovic right and they have that ability where they can spread the floor but they can attack a close out they’re not you know what I mean they’re more Dynamic the problem is yak there’s not much Dynamic to what Yak does yak’s steady but yeah and I think if yaka perto is playing 22 minutes a night for you you’re solid you’re good right it’s it’s when going he can’t touch 30 yeah he can’t touch 30 he can’t unless you know even even against embiid he’s not going to do much against embiid so it’s even on a night against embid does even touch 30 that’s the thing yeah I think he’s just a little bit over leverag and I I agree with that but if you if you put a big behind him like um you know a day round sharp or you know just like a collection of Bigs like a ye Mei if he comes up right like you could see his minutes going down a little bit as well and at 20 million it’s not the worst thing in the world you know what I mean like I I I think the contract was an overpay would I rather be paying him 13 million hell yes but overall it’s not that big an overpay you know what I mean it’s it’s an overpay for sure and it sucks because you overpaid twice you overpaid three times actually uh for him but yeah like I mean it’s not the worst thing in the world it’s like if yaku purle is one of your seven best players and you won a championship I’m not surprised if and and that’s the whole question I always ask right is like if this guy’s one of your top seven players and you win a championship are you surprised so that’s the question if Emanuel quickley is one of your top seven players and you won a championship are you surprised no me neither if RJ bear is one of your top seven players and you won a championship are you surprised no it’s possible me neither Scotty if he’s one of the top seven players and you won a championship are you surprised no if he’s seven you’re the greatest team to ever exist but exactly and and if he’s two you’re probably a championship Contender if you’re one okay you’re you’re you’re you’re in trouble right now but maybe he’ll get better um if yaka perto is one of your top seven players could you win a championship he’s the only one where you have to think about it considering where the game’s going right because the thing that made um Lively and um what’s his name what’s the starting center Gafford I think effective was their lob threat ability that’s to me that’s what made Aaron Gordon so good right it’s like you throw the lob and the defense doesn’t have time to react the problem with yakob is he’s not a lob threat so you throw him the ball you even see the Yak pick and roll sometimes it’s tough because Scotty has to get him the ball and then Yak has to catch it gather and that’s when the guards come in there right right I think the ability to not be able to react and keep someone glued to you because of the lob threat Yak doesn’t provide that right he doesn’t provide the the the three-point spacing he doesn’t provide the vertical spacing he’s like he’s just in the middle and it and sometimes it’s can you know it’s tough with him it’s tough I agree but but I mean okay let’s be real is he better than Payton Pritchard yes he is okay so that means if he was on the Celtics he would have played backup center for them okay no no wait wa is he better than be he would be their eighth best player yes if if if fully healthy he would he would have been the Celtics eighth best player but we are also talking about one of the most statistically dominant teams of all time so I think if he’s in your top eight of the rotation you’re perfectly fine and and and that’s not to say like when you think about you know the warrior structure with uh Kavon Looney right cavon Looney started at Center for them right I don’t think he was one of the top five best players on that team right he was maybe their Seven’s best player but he was still in the starting center but he played limited minutes in a limited role and it was just ceremonial Center you know I realized we’re moving further and further away H his rebounding though was I remember in that that championship the offensive rebound was absolutely because and that’s and that’s what I was saying with Jonathan MoGo it’s like that value that you can bring it’s uh it’s it’s incredible like the offensive rebounding the screening the reason that I I put [ __ ] so high on this list is the upside on him is he can do a lot of what yaka purle does he has pretty good Rim defense he’s a really good screener he’s going to be a great offensive you know player but he’ll also have that spacing ability right so people comparing him to Precious really haven’t watched him play and I’m not I’m not trying to boost this guy I realized just like four weeks ago he was literally you know ped to go undrafted that’s cuz people weren’t noticing him but the more I study his tape the more I’m just like oh damn this guy is going to be like a really good Center in the NBA or really power like a like a power forward center with legit power forward Center length maybe not the height but it’s like who cares you know what I mean like I don’t care six7 7 foot2 wingspan super broad shouldered like he’s he’s big like he’s a [ __ ] physically huge guy like he’s built like a center you know he’s got those linebacker you know shoulders and it’s just like damn you know like I could see this guy doing a lot of the stuff yakob does because he’s smart and that’s what makes yakob so valuable he’s an offensive rebounder he’s smart he sets great screens he knows where to be on the court he knows that but he can’t shoot the threes he can’t attack close outs so even if he can do the short roll stuff that that that can he can’t he can’t attack a close out the way Moo can he can’t punish the defense for mistakes instantly he can’t right but then but then the issue with guys like mogbo and Ben Simmons or whoever is at some point you realize no one’s closing out to you anyway no one will ever close out to you because you’re not enough of his threat to shoot and so it doesn’t matter that you can attack a close out if no one ever closes out to you out of control or no one closes out to you period and they just dare you to score that’s that like what was what Scotty went through in year two right where teams were just sagging deep drop on him like TW they’re giving him 20 feet of space and they’re just like do something right that situation could come up for jonath MBO if his if his you know if his offense does not get better but that’s the exact situation that yakob is in every single game when he’s out at 20 feet the defender is just in deep drop and the only thing that we’re going to be able to do to really really um punish that is to you know to to keep to get him a little bit lower right sometimes or to to make him more of a driving threat like yakob just driving at you know close outs and and and I think that like maybe him just driving into the paint and getting a little bit more of like downhill and then making a pass out of the paint like I think like his passing makes him different than a lot of other non-shooters yeah but I think the lack of shooting makes it so that the spacing is always almost always atrocious with him I just want us to Target the reason why I loved the um een yic Walker which I Walker so someone um mentioned oh we’re not eon’s not realistic how many people can Houston pay because um um what’s his name who’s their Center I keep forgetting his name their best player right now who Rockets who’s their best player Al shenon Yep they’re paying shenon they’re gonna pay Thompson Jabari Parker I assume is going to have a really good year right they still have to make a decision on on green mhm like someone it’s basically we’re going to pay three of our rookies near Max and then it’s it’s we got to fill out the roster someone has to go same with Walker yeah now Walker’s a tougher and even even yic on the heat who they building around because Butler his days there seem numbered right and um and Bam is not someone you build around necessarily right you don’t build around defensive players I think bam is a better offensive player than people give him credit for and honestly if I could trade you know everything not Nam Scotty on this roster to get him I probably would I know I think he’s a great player I think he’s a top 15 NBA player I just don’t think you can build an offense around him I don’t think he can be your centerpiece think he’s top 15 yeah I think he’s that good defensively he is very good defensively I don’t know if he’s top 15 for me but he is definitely in the top 30 um what do you think of this Raptors players and the ringers top 100 uh 41 Scotty Barnes 92 Emanuel quickley 99 arj Barrett I just want to say this one thing the ringer had Luca donic as the fourth best player under 25 in their last ranking and I literally did not stop laughing this is the dumbest [ __ ] I don’t know who’s doing their [ __ ] for them right now they used to be all right right now this is next level criminal Insanity Scotty bar at 41 for real he was just an All-Star last year what are we talking about here 41 he was on All-Star on a losing team that at least puts him in top 30 conversation right the these are the same people that were were were just the way they were talking about Kyrie Irving before the final started and the way they talked about Kyrie iring after the final started these people changed their mind every day wait wait till wait till uh November mid November of of you know this coming season and watch how that whole thing just crumbles yeah I’m looking forward to is Scotty Barnes a top 10 player in the NBA conversations that’s going to come real soon oh I have a question I have a question are you more excited going into this year or as much or more than you were excited going into the season after Scotty’s rookie season where we won 48 games Scotty was looking like a superstar we had OG you know the whole Squad and it was like oh my God The Vibes with the greatest of all time so that year or this year that’s a good question hard to say I was pretty excited coming into B year right I expected Scotty to take a huge step I expected Christian Koko to be [ __ ] amazing um you know a lot of expectations coming into that year uh but I gotta be honest even in Scotty’s rookie year I had a lot of issues with you know Pascal Z alcam right the long-term future of Pascal I think there was a lot of uncertainty I hated the fact that the team was sort of being being spearheaded and led by Fred Van B that bothered me even again like my my criticism of this [ __ ] with Fred and Pascal and on and Nick nurse it didn’t start last year or the year before it started like right into Scotty’s rookie season it started like like my first I think I was like looking back on this a couple weeks ago I was like when was my first real lengthy criticism I checked it I actually checked it the other day uh your video catalog and there’s you said something like there’s something wrong with the Toronto Raptors offense and it was like the first month of Scotty’s second year yeah it was like the beginning of that season Good Vibes everything 50 win team second round or bust and you were saying uh something smells off right now um what I’m talking about more is even before I started penar basketball I was on Facebook and I used to post in this group called Toronto Raptors and I remember becoming a very big pariah that group because I would often criticize Fred Van vet for some of the stuff that he was doing and I think it was around month one uh of Scotty’s rookie season it might have been like eight to 10 12 games and I think my very first actually this a good opportunity to actually look back on this um it was like one month into Scotty’s rookie season where I was like uh I don’t really like the vibe between him and Fred and it’s funny because you know like people people would often clown to be like oh he’s looking at The Vibes he’s looking at body language is he an FBI guy like what is he and it’s funny because when I talk to people who are like really plugged into the NBA they always talk about this stuff they always like talking about like hey like I really really pay attention to how a kid reacts with another kid or how his teammates you know deal with him or what’s his body language like when he makes a mistake does he hang his head or does he get back on defense like these things really matter to Pro Scouts and I always found myself getting clowned for pointing out things like this and yeah with Fred it was like right away I’m like there’s something wrong here you know what’s funny I do remember there was there was a play I think in preseason where Fred threw in his Scotty’s rookie year Fred threw an aloop to Scotty Scotty caught it brought it down and then put it back up and Scotty I think in uh Fred in the press conference was like oh they told me he was he was this rookie with so much energy right kind of being like sarcastic and I remember early in the season Scotty got excited and Fred kind of went up to him and like yo calm down calm down and I remember those two instances like this dude’s just a buzz kill like for no reason so look at look look at the look at the date on this video this was one of my first videos the Toronto Raptors offense is in trouble this is not by the way this is not Scotty’s second year this is Scotty’s first year pretty much first week you see this yeah I do yeah bre ball has already changed hands Gary Trent fumbles it a little bit still a positive offensive possession and it generates a positive look so it’s like positives and then looking at negatives and with the negatives I’m pretty sure a lot of it was like Fred and Pascal now he attacks the defense and he forces one Defender at least to commit to that and he’s really got and I think I’m still talking about positives there we’re going to watch what Scotty does Scotty clears out very slowly right to give crus apprciate the isolation opportunity there can you hear this and it’s just a m yeah so yeah so this is this is when I first started calling it out um that’s the crazy part like it’s been a while it was very early and I mean it didn’t stop you know what I mean like I I had a Rob I had this conversation with with with uh someone and we were having a disagreement and I was like the thing that bothered me about the whole Nick nurse Fred and and Pascal thing was Scotty came in as a rookie he was supposed to be a project he was raw he was fifth option hustle guy right everything was good vibes were great all of a sudden he wins Rookie of the Year and he exceeds expectations going into his second year all the steam he’s the future right he’s the future we’re going to build around him soon it was clear this guy was more than what we thought all stars were in The Horizon Superstar was a question all of a sudden Vibes change he’s no longer fourth or fifth option he doesn’t know his place anymore right and the thing that always bothered me was Fred and Pascal never wanted to sacrifice Scotty was always the one sacrificing anybody with a brain cell knew he was the future and the future of the franchise was the one sacrificing it was so backwards so backwards it felt backwards but it also felt like there was sort of like a long-term feeling of like this is our team come fit in and there was little bit of like a delusional feeling of like we did this here and so you have to come and you’re coming into our Squad that’s the thing you didn’t do it here the guys that did it here are gone they they were part of it you were part of it of something right but you imagine just imagine that Jason Tatum and Jaylen brown right and and Drew holiday they all left right and you had pton Pritchard stop right stop this Rob stop this no no no I’m just saying like imagine all those guys tell them about the half court shots no no no no no I’m saying imagine that all those guys left Boston in three four years from now the starting point guard is pton Pritchard right and imagine like the you know the they get like a top five pick and this guy comes in and now pton bridg is like I’m the NBA champion here because I won this championship in like 200 you know 2024 and how was the championship point guard and it’s just like hm you weren’t really right you were the seventh best player on the team let’s keep it a buck let’s keep it a stock you know and sometimes you just have to ask yourself like could Scotty have been part of that championship team and still won a championship yes of course he could have he probably could have he I’m not saying he could have played when when he was like 15 or 16 years old but like I’m saying like if I could implant rooky Scotty onto that championship team he’s probably a rotation player and he’s probably pretty good he’s not a starter fine but he would be like the Sixth Man or seventh man you know so it’s like would he have one to like it’s it’s just weird to me it’s always been like there I was thinking about like arguments that bother me the appeal to seniority always bothered me like as a kid it always bothered me when someone said I’m older so you know you’re wrong it’ be like no I’m I’m right because you’re wrong like shut the [ __ ] up I don’t like this appeal I also don’t like the appeal to you you know someone someone told me the other day they were like talking about Drake and being like Oh my God you know how can you talk down on Drake he made this much money he he sold this many albums I’m like bro McDonald’s sells a lot of [ __ ] food it’s still crap right now that is another argument that really does not appeal to me which is the appeal to numbers and volume right volume is not important to me I’m not a quantity guy I’m a quality guy right so you’re not going to tell me that someone is making better videos than me because they’re getting more views just because in the same way I’m never going to tell you I’m making better videos somebody because I’m getting more views there are guys out there that get 200 views I promise you they’re making better videos than I am there’s probably guys out there making you know you know $2 million a year on YouTube and it’s probably a hell of a lot less substance on what they’re saying so I don’t so there’s certain arguments that never appeal to me it also was thinking like in light of all this Drake [ __ ] it’s always like been kind of cool like cool to think back on like which players really [ __ ] with him Fred was like really [ __ ] with Drake you know what I mean the keepers are like they were like oh that’s my little brother that’s my this that’s my that it’s really interesting to to see like who that personality appealed to and it’s like very often you’ll see people with like values they end up becoming friends you know what I mean if you have someone who’s really money-minded and very very fake yeah so I wouldn’t want to wish that on anybody or Fred associating him with with Drake right now but one thing that’s interesting about Drake I I I remember there was an interview and I think Kanye West was asked a question about Drake and you know what’s this he he was asked about um the beef between them at the time and Kanye was like yo the thing with Drake is if you if you have a disagreement with that guy or a perceived disagreement he will try to sleep with any woman in your family you’ll try to sleep with your daughter your sister your mom your your your your you know it’s it’s like that kind of person people know about stuff like that mhm and nobody respects that kind of thing nobody damn yeah that’s true I’m a hungry individual I think um I think it’s just some really low ass energy for sure word gets out the way you act the way you treat people and I honestly I think one thing about Drake is sometimes he’s rubbing somebody the wrong way and he doesn’t even know it he’s like Oh I thought we were cool I think he’s one of those guys where he thinks he’s cool with somebody but he’s really not and he doesn’t know why they’re cool they’re not cool yeah you know those kind of people I think we’re cool yeah I think he’s he’s that I think sometimes he’s genuinely confused what did I do for sure I’m sorry I’m I’m looking back on some old videos right now Fred Van v tricked y’all is this a good video I don’t remember this but [ __ ] this is Scotty’s rookie year man I didn’t even have to go to the Facebook post this is like literally first month Scotty’s rookie season I the thing between you imagine what what’s coming this year no I’m just worried about my playing time going down I don’t know like they went and got all these 69ine guys it don’t make sense to have me a point guard no more so I don’t even know where you sitting at damn I started trashing him early I didn’t realize it was this early like new exist we take a couple pullup transition threes or a step back or you know a couple quick shots like I’m not going to come down the next possession and dribble the ball and shoot a a contested too so trying to not focus on just dribbling the ball for 23 seconds and you know oh my God to let the work and it doesn’t always work but oh my and if I’m the one that’s got to sacrifice a little bit which I’ve been doing a lot this year I think the guys that we’re plugging in have no choice but to be open-minded or they wouldn’t be playing God I don’t miss this I’m stick I’m I’m that old angry man with some inexperience and we got a lot of guys that aren’t familiar with playing in this Arena so trying to get the younger guys who haven’t played as much to understand the value of each possession and oh no I don’t care about that I could believe I had eight turnovers still two to one two to one assist turnover protect your home court is something that just feels so normal and natural but until it’s not you know what I mean until you have a lot of guys who don’t really understand what that means the truly great players AR here anymore be honest with you I don’t I don’t know I didn’t have that luxury so like it was you know be ready to play or don’t play because we have a lot of uh free opportunity and um a lot of guys themselves really earned it um and not in a guys that are playing that W didn’t earn it whatever the case may be they might not W his not to um again offensively it’s like whatever right we’ll figure it out I don’t talk basketball with too many people like I’m pretty uh what do they call it I’m a basketball elitist no no no I love you guys anytime anytime like we think about like oh things are bad just always go back to watch this video and realize how St valuing non basketball people’s opinion a long time ago I was guess that it would be those opinions W positive from my viewpoint you guys probably won’t notice it sharing the ball handing responsibilities Scotty’s had the ball a lot uh For Better or For Worse at times but a lot to Reach For Better or For Worse at times but honestly man I’m so thankful so you got to kind of like get up to speed or you going to keep getting stepped on I think that the only thing we don’t do now cuz we have phones every day is we don’t give time I certainly never thought about shooting 20 shots in the game or something like that I got to the NBA and they told me that’s what I had to do so here we are now people don’t think I’m a point guard anymore it’s great I think it’s just a reminder for was this guy’s who have uh it is honestly man I am reminded every single day no matter how bad things get no matter how bad things get no matter how many games we lose that this is not our starting point guard anymore and I’m very happy about that because honestly like he’s such a dominant personality the team will always take his leadership and his personality uh to it so it’s good it’s it’s nice to see Scotty expanding uh there was a clip today I think someone someone posted I think Aaron Rose posted it at this point like I think he’s uh he posted this clip of Messiah J saying we’re going to win again we’re going to rebuild and we’re going to win something like that I don’t know where that video is from I don’t know when it’s from I don’t take it as an indication that they’re trying to be bad though I I I understand what he means by rebuild I I hope he can be a little more careful with his words but I don’t think that means like they’re going to tear down but the minute they trade yaka purle or Kelly oen or one of those guys I’m going to notice like okay they’re they’re moving towards a younger thing but no matter how much losing happens over the next two years if it happens to be like oh no we made it to the plane we didn’t get in or we got bounced in the plane or we got swept in the first round or whatever it won’t matter because at the end of the day that transition had to happen at some point he wasn’t going to come here and be a backup he wasn’t going to be you know fifth option he thought you know I’ve earned my place to be a $40 million guy a starter and a leader and I just don’t think you know I think like organizations are sort of top down right like you could have the greatest um workers and the greatest midle management but if your manager manager if your CEO is a [ __ ] and and if he doesn’t know what he’s doing you’re [ __ ] so organizations they are very top down um in the NBA and so to me if you’re starting point guard and your and your senior leader is is not a culture Builder or at least not someone who’s connective or can bring people together and a lot of people going to point to Houston they’re going to say he’s doing fine there right last the playoffs number one they still missed the playoffs number two they had a lot more Talent like you’re telling me you added fed van vet you added jock Londale you added eoka and you added you know Dylan Brooks and you got what like and shenon became better and actually has a competent pick and roll partner yeah that too right and you got shenon and you got um you know cam Whitmore and Jabari Smith got way better and Jaylen green had a way better and so you can say okay well you know correlation causation is he the reason that those guys got better I really think OKO was a huge step up on Stephen cus we’re talking about the worst coach in the NBA versus one of the top 10 coaches in the NBA that’s a massive difference so you know there thereby Fred taking a lot of credit but you know I I said it last year Fred’s a good player he’s a really good player he’s not a $40 million player um but he’s I think shun is a better fit because shenon doesn’t um he doesn’t feel threatened by him because shun’s a center he he there’s no competition there right he’s my screener every single time yeah uh vegan grassing Messi posted on his Instagram story that’s wild really so Messi uuy posted like we will rebuild and we will get better or whatever on his own Instagram story that’s interesting is he giving us a clue about where he’s going on draft night that is interesting did you hear about um uh low potentially actually playing for the Raptors next season no I didn’t how um well Lowry he doesn’t have a team and he’s not going to be that I mean people are going to want him but he’s he’s at the back of end his career right so if he’s going to and he was at the WNBA thing right mhm and he wants to end his career in Toronto that was the idea and it’s like if you are going to come at this point does Larry ring Chase because he’s going to be like a seventh eighth guy right at this point in his career he’s gonna be worse than a seventh or eighth guy yeah so if you’re gonna if he’s gonna even be worse than that if he’s eighth right and an emergency minutes guy might as well come home and lead the future of Toronto might as well I mean what’s stopping him from getting a minimum contract in Philly are they saying they don’t want him I mean yeah him and nurse are cool so yeah no exactly he’s he’s going to have options if he wants a minimum contract there’s like 20 teams that would give him a minimum contract I don’t know how many teams are willing to give him a guaranteed rotation spot at this point he is a little bit older the league is going younger there’s a lot of young talent but you know what it kind of helps at this year’s draft usually the draft is a replacement for a lot of older players obviously you’re going to have a lot of people coming in I would I would take Lowry at his current age as our backup point guard over what we saw for half the season that was Malachi Flynn yeah thankfully we don’t have Malachi Flynn anymore so at this point take an obese 40-year-old Cy Lowry then Maliki no no no I’m not I’m just saying if he was I’d still take him over Malachi Flynn and at 40 Lowry might be obese I’m just kidding though when he’s retired you would take Kyle Lowry on the Oliver Miller diet e okay on the Oliver Miller diet I would take um I I I would look at Kyle L for sure if he wanted to come in and and be that he’s a very very strong personality so obviously he’s going to have a lot of power in your locker room he’s a really big you know um vet I wonder bringing Garrett Temple back accomplishes a lot of the same stuff obviously Kyle’s a much better player he’s got a lot more tenure he’s going to be a Hall of Famer so that’s like pedigree he could probably also be a really good helpful you know sort of tool to Scotty in terms guard he probably help man quickly aot nating the point guard position he became the greatest point guard in Raptor history so having two guys who have aspirations at that position but maybe neither of whom have the most natural fit at that position be great to learn a little bit from kyari um but that being said if the if the Raptors are straight up stripping down and rebuilding which I don’t know yet right again like the first move like if they’re signing OG or if they’re signing ni Clon I don’t see why they would ever do this but but if they strike out on free agency they sign back or trade Bruce you know Bruce Brown for you know something like bad in terms of cway but also like don’t be surprised if this team tries to be bad and then ends up being good anyway that happened with we the north right they they tried to strip down and then they ended up being good so I wouldn’t be super surprised if you know they try to trade Bruce Brown for a bad contract like you know Harrison Barnes or you know uh Andrew Wiggins and and and Moses moody or maybe they trade yaka purle I mean like [ __ ] like accidents happen all the time I remember you know um when the Golden State Warriors they lost David Lee for a bit and then they ended up starting Draymond that was a total accident they didn’t draft the guy to be their starting center it’s just when they drafted him he was just the only guy that they could plug into that position and ended up being a revelation you know like so I just think like there’s enough good things happening with the Raptors right now that you could have positive surprised um but yeah like I mean I think what he means by rebuild and I’m just again like maybe I’m wrong but I think what he means is we’re not competing for a championship next year and I don’t think anyone should be expecting that but that doesn’t mean that they’re going to stop like trying to be good right away you know what I mean they will try to be good they just they’re just not going to trade for yako PE and thus young to do it which I think makes sense translation they’re no longer in the treadmill delusion right because they weren’t saying rebuild before but we everyone knew we were winning a championship then as well two years ago exactly and and and that and that like you know that Bobby Wester quote how do you ask an NBA champion to rebuild or how do you ask an NBA champion to tank and it’s like well thankfully it’s much easier to ask Scotty Barnes and RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickley to tank if at December Mark you’re not a good team you know that was like I had a video called the 21 questions or something that the Raptors need to ask themselves and that was one of those questions it’s like at what point do you pull the plug if things are not going well and there has to be a number there has to be an exit strategy there’s like you know in any situation there’s got to be a plan right if if you’re if you’re going to casino not that I suggest going to casino you got to know like once I lose 100 bucks or 200 bucks or 300 bucks I’m out you know there has to be a stop loss you know if you’re investing in a stock like I’m going to buy a stock at 118 is there stop loss here at 116 and you’re out you know 114 112 where’s your what’s your limit so I think with the Raptors you know you go into every season with some optimism you try to put the team in a position to be good and competitive and you make sure that everyone knows that that’s the goal the goal is to win every game it’s to win but you come out and the league is so talented and there’s enough good teams but yo man I’m looking around the East and I’m like shoot are certain teams getting worse I think the Bulls are worse yes and without without like without Alex Caruso who was like really at times their best player last year Beyond Demar de Rosen and if D Rose goes to like LA or something like that he’s a free agent he could I think I think one of the Hawks guards are gone I I I don’t see a world where they both come back they’re not free agents yeah but I think they’re going to be traded I think one of them is going to be traded it’s it’s crazy to keep them together again would you trade for Deonte Murray to be your two next to manual quickly between IQ Scotty RJ I would do it I would do it not for the long term but I think the contract it’s such a value contract it that I think it’s it’s a good asset to acquire and if Gary was starting last year he’s an upgrade clearly so let me let me let me pitch a mock trade to you and tell me if you would do it um Bruce Brown okay jemy Daniels um 2026 Indiana pick number 19 this year do you do it in a heartbeat Hawks don’t okay I’m gon I’m gonna also have to ask you to add a 2028 Lottery protected Raptor pick first pick now you got three first round picks plus plus two expiring it’s going out and maybe you can you can fin angle you know um like what I would love what I would love is a deal for Dante plus stuff right like I would have loved a massive deal around dejonte like there’s so many players in the Hawks that I can either stomach or just really like for whatever reason their roster is awesome they just don’t win so obviously Jaylen Johnson’s off the table I think the Raptors acquired about him and he’s just not on the table right but I like sadique Bay right I like I like uh bu bdon bogdanovich I love bdon bogdanovich he’s a little bit older but you know I like him I mean I really like AJ Griffin and on yakoo it’s like I like half their [ __ ] roster the problem with this trade and I really I love deante Murray the problem with this trade is IQ Murray and RJ is not a long-term one 123 it just can’t be it’s too small but why do people okay so so look around look around at the league you know in terms of small forwards who’s so much bigger than RJ why do people always say not necessarily RJ but my God what what’s the combined weight of IQ and and Murray I get that I get that I don’t even think they CRA 250 no they do like they’re not cracking like 300 pounds almost like bro that’s light I know I know they not Emanuel quickley is almost 200 pound like he’s like 190 probably he’s he’s solid muscle and Deonte Murray is like 65 man 64 de jante 64 you know like what I’m saying is they’re not that undersized as a back court and they’re very long both of them are very long like they’re a lot bigger and a lot longer than Fred Van and and Kyle Lowry were and they’re both pretty good Defenders now Emanuel quickley wasn’t the greatest Defender last year but he has been a good defender in the past dejonte Murray used to be a really really good Defender and he wasn’t a good Defender last year either can you get those guys to really really dial in defensively you’ll be small for sure like again if Scotty becomes a four you’re automatically small because he’s small for a four right I mean he’s not small small for a four he’s got a 7 fo3 wingspan 7 fo4 wingspan so you know he’s not small small for a four he’s just maybe not he’s not plus- siiz for a four so Scotty’s your guard Scotty’s your wing you’re big and if Scotty’s a big and you add a player who’s not as big as him at the guard then you’re small it’s it’s really Scotty where Scotty plays on the court is your tilting Factor but I do think that with RJ and Emanuel quickley and Scotty Barnes and um deante Deonte IQ Scotty RJ you have four guys who can attack off the dribble four guys who can sort of shoot it’s a really skilled team and it’s really interesting to think about how that team would play in transition now did the fifth guy become so important like who’s that fifth guy well it’s a it’s a behemoth Center who sets a lot of screens for those guys right like I think you have pieces right it’s just when I think about you know Gary Trent a lot of people are saying like oh I wouldn’t mind taking Gary Trent back at 15 million I’m like I would I would mind a lot I think he’s worth I don’t think he’s worth that much so the speaking of Gary what’s the annual reported contract for um Malik monk 78 million for four years okay so we talking that’s like 14.5 million per year sorry what am I talking 19.5 per year okay so that’s the that’s the market right for for for for super way better way better way better and we saw um the guy on the Suns that signed an extension oh he’s way better than Gary too and he was making an annual I think 17.5 bro Gary love you the most professional guy I’ve ever met in my life on the Raptors the year the Year everything was going to [ __ ] Scotty second year man Gary was the most upstanding model citizen I’ve ever seen love the dude but bro you’re you’re at best getting the mid-level exception at best at best that that should be the market but honestly if it’s middle level exception why not why wouldn’t he go somewhere and see if he could start right all right good luck and and I and I think that that’s the that’s the leverage tool that the Raptors will have to you know go up against every single time they try to resign one of these middling type talents see like with Scotty there’s no leverage there’s no negotiation he’s a max player he’s max player everyone can offer him a Max you just offer him one more year and you get him but with guys like Gary and guys like um RJ if he were ever to hit up free agency or bu all these middle talents these guys that are like around the mid level you end up having to overpay them them by a little bit because that’s your negotiation tool right like don’t test free agency it will give you three more three three four million doll more and um yeah I think it’s sort of backfired for the Raptors band like it really has and so you start thinking like when they won a championship what was their roster like and you’re like H they had a lot of contracts that they didn’t sign right you had Kawai Danny Green those are not contracts you signed right Marcus not a contract you signed you had a bunch of rookie contracts well Ibaka is a contract they signed and KY was a contract they signed um but SE yakum was on a rookie deal that was scale um you know Fred Van vet was on a rookie deal I think at the time as well if I’m not mistaken or he was on a second deal at the time so I’m just saying like the vast majority of players on that team were either signed by somebody else so they negotiated the fair value so I think like the Raptors need to maybe think less about okay like let’s go and sign this guy um and maybe think even less about like we need to resign this guy and maybe we need to trade we need to trade more because I think the Raptors have been pretty positive on trades you know like even RJ Barrett right now it’s almost like if RJ Hits free agency right now I think the Raptors would have to pay him 30 million so it’s like maybe it’s a good thing that he took $2 million from the Knicks you know 24 million saying Gary Mack should be 14 I think that’s just too high like I’m I’m sorry like for what just not that great he’s not really not and the thing with Gary is he’s not much of a rebounder even though he got better at that he’s definitely not much of a playmaker passer his b handling I mean we all know as Raptors fans when Gary Trent Jr is has the ball and he’s pushing the break oh my God our hearts stop our hearts stop I mean he did get a little bit better towards the end of the year because like yeah he’s he’s not great he’s definely not no versatility he has a zero versatility and realistically he can’t really guard one position that’s the problem right like like these other guys okay let me ask you this Rob we know he can he can’t guard multiple positions how many positions can he play on offense realistically two the two and the three yep and he’d be an undersiz three because you know he can’t play the one you know he can’t play the one to say his life right and and and there in lines the issue right is like on a crossmatch hide consistent yeah even at the thing he does he’s not consistent so I think the the there’s tup pong issue with Gary is number one his most optimal position uh which is coming off the bench as a sixthman kind of what I described an Anthony Simons as he has shown time and time again that he struggles with that specific position number two the second the two-prong you know part of this is he’s he not the best fit with your current core of weaknesses right so when you are a top three guy in your on your team’s roster like a damont sabonis dear and fox a Keegan Murray you know for through the Kings or you know a Scotty RJ IQ like for the Raptors maybe we build around your strengths but when you’re on the bottom half of the rotation if you’re in the bottom half of the core we need to build around your weaknesses as opposed to your strengths right and so your your weaknesses have to complement the weaknesses of my star players and there in lies the issue right like right now Gary Tren Jr’s weaknesses are overlapping with gar uh with Grady and rjs specifically on the on the defense and so I think that Gary Trent Jr is just a casualty of this situation obviously I I don’t I’m not putting it off that the Raptors could potentially come at him and just say okay well you know we struck out in free agency and we’ll offer you 15 million year to come back but if they offer 20 I am so so so disappointed it should never happen I’m just over this I’ve been here this long I’ve sacrificed for this team and I deserve like no no no no no we’re not doing that anymore we’re not we’re not handing out an extra year with a player option we’re not overpaying we’re done we’re done I don’t think we’re done yeah but we should be we should be done but we’re not done you PA the guys you need to pay and everybody else but I think like ultimately like you have to also think about this from the market value like sometimes you do have to pay guys a certain amount more I don’t think the Raptors are going out of their way and saying like let’s out bit ourselves I just think that sometimes they end up in a situation where you know there’s another offer and they have to beat that offer somehow and so they beat it with player options and a higher dollar value so if New Orleans comes up to a guy right who’s American athlete right and they say we’ll give you you know the I don’t know we’ll give you $12 million a year right we’ll give you 12 million to come here we’ll give you the full midlevel right let’s just say right now New Orleans comes up to Gary no not New Orleans let’s say Orlando no state tax right Orlando comes up to Gary saying hey we need shooting we got free agency whatever we willing to give you $12 million a year for three years 36 million right how are the Raptors supposed to beat that how do the Raptors beat that offer well there’s two ways number one they can offer 14 right so they can go from 12 to 14 but you’re still not completely making up for the tax differential between the two states right like Ontario versus versus Florida and so maybe if you want to keep them you got to go like with the player option additional and then bump it up to 14.5 with maximum raises and now everyone’s going to say oh look the Raptors overpaid for Gary Trent Jr you know this other team could have gotten them for 12 and it’s like yeah but the other team is operating in a state with no [ __ ] income tax and there’s multiple teams this this offseason that have cap space that have no state income tax which is specifically San Antonio in Orlando and there’s no state taxes uh state tax in Texas if I recall correctly and neither is there in Florida and so a guy like Gary Trent could make more money going to that team for 9 million than he could making you know 12 million from the Raptors and so Daren lies the sort of Crux of the issue and why things are not really fair and sometimes why the Raptors will have to overpay I just think sometimes if you’re going to overpay you might as well overpay for a guy you know that is closer to fitting into what you need like so yaka purle right so last year yaka Perle had a competing offer from the Spurs and so in order to get him you have to pay him a little bit more than the Spurs would have right it’s the state income tax thing it’s the same thing all over again right so it’s like it sucks but we’re not the only team I just think okay do you think it’s hard to replace Gary Skillet no I think there’s like six guys in the draft who can be reasonably about as good as um as early as next year I or sorry next year as in the year after that I mean just a random guy like McBride for the Knicks basically does what Gary does just better more and he can handle the ball he’s smaller but I’m just saying there’s scoring is it’s not scoring with no playmaking is not a premium you don’t pay those guys uh what’s his name um the guy from the Suns he’s different because he actually defends and he shoots at at an effici clip right monk play makes at a high level right Gary it’s also an incredible athlete I think that matters incredible high flyer it’s like why are we paying for someone that you you can find what percentage of Gary’s skill set can you find in the second round in this draft in a player like 75% of what Gary gives you on a second rounder I don’t know if it’s nearly that bad I mean Gary’s still an NBA player but like let me just compare uh Duce McBride to Gary Tren Jr just for anyone who thinks maybe you’re you’re overexaggerating here let me just pull this up for for anyone to see so this is the uh the direct comparison between these two players you can take a look here so in terms of games played so you know yeah you’re going to look at points per game you’re going to look at Raw rebounds and and you know assists you’re G to say okay Gary was better but that’s just cuz he played way more minutes uh field goal percentage is massively in favor of uh dece McBride three-point percentage free throw percentage effective field goal percentage box with minus decidedly value replacement like everything if you look at per 100 possessions it is actually damning so per 100 possessions um the only thing Gary’s really better at is he takes more shots really that’s it but that’s because he’s also playing on a worse team um McBride had more assists just as many steals more more blocks he had um so better assist to turnover ratio uh he shot again better from three he was a better better true shooting better everything right and it’s just like Advanced he had a significantly better defensive boxing minus as well so I think the difference between these two prospects is really defensively as well um let me just take a look here like guys who are under 65 that are just bucket Getters like how how valuable is the guy from uh Brooklyn who’s on a scoring bidge last year yeah like how valuable is he really I mean not as valuable as people think but this is sort of like where Duce McBride is right in in terms of crafted this about a guy who can drop 50 yeah who cares exactly okay this is this is Gary Trent Jr’s like both us so like again the defense is really bad right and the offense in terms of shot quality I mean he he takes a ton of thre so it’s going to be good for shot quality but overall his true shooting percentage being significantly below League average he doesn’t get to the line very much he’s not a very Dynamic passer or a very good passer at that so he’s not a bum he’s definitely an NBA player I just that that earlier question that I asked of if he’s one of the top seven players on your team could you win a championship and it’s like if Gary’s one of the top seven players on your team man the other six players better be Allstars you know like really really good players yeah um kickass production said I’d rather pay Melton 15 than Gary easily of course you would what’s Melton in the free market DeAnthony Melton yeah I don’t know but I think he’s a better player than Gary Trent I mean that’s not saying much and I love Gary honestly as a person I do but that’s not saying much um you’re a guard and stops when you dribble come on bro I think Melton’s like a 15 to 16 million a year guy he could be less he could be 12 he could be 14 I don’t know I guess it depends on who has cap space and who really likes him um but yeah completely disagree Gary is a competent Defender at best who is saying he’s not a competent Defender so wait hold on S Antonio Gary could be lock down Defender when he’s engaged he cannot be a lock down Defender so a lot of people like again um wow Gary or Pritchard Payton Pritchard Payton Pritchard for sure um but again if you’re if we’re talking like St yeah pton Pritchard man I I would take pton Pritchard over him I mean the deal pton pritchard’s on so he he signed a deal last year right pyton Pritchard so let’s see his contract because he he Inked a deal and he’s getting paid uh this past seon million so next year he’s making seven then 7.2 then 7.7 and at the year 2728 he’s making 8.3 right so I think G Gary’s still a clutch guy right yeah okay yeah that’s that’s why he’s getting paid Rob honestly to me Gary Trent Jr is a on is is he better than Malachi Flynn like if you if you were to replace Bron Antonio you can’t base someone’s future outlook on a down year his defensive metrics were off the board in 2022 bro no they weren’t [ __ ] no they weren’t if you mean defensive metrics as steals that’s different he was not a good defender in 20122 okay I promise you that I’m sick of people lying about this it’s not true go back can actually look at his actual defensive metrics they were not great he was a halfway competent Team Defender who racked up a ton of steals because the entire scheme for the Raptors was to generate steals but you don’t think OG and Scotty were doing so much to pressure the ball in order to force some of those steals that he was able to gap for he is not a competent like he is not even a remotely competent Team Defender deflections and steals that’s that’s how you’re determining defense what what about um oh my God look at the games he guarded the other team stars are we are you crazy what are you talking about you trying to Gaslight the entire fan base no man he was like he is not so he was guarding the other team star while while OG and Scotty were doing what pascow was doing what he was the worst defender in that starting lineup and it wasn’t even like the Raptors had a top five defense I I just I want to ask all these people defending Gary and I I would actually put Malachi Flynn and precious Chua in this this in this uh category these guys were on the team for three four years they’ve had plenty of opportunity to break out they haven’t I’m sorry how many times are you gonna blame Nick nurse or culture like dude the cream rice is to the top it is what it is it should um here’s the thing I think I think like when people see guys like very often right like you watch Gary 82 games last year or 80 games or whatever how many G however many games he played you watch Grady dick all year maybe you didn’t watch cam Thomas or Cam Johnson or Mel Bridges maybe you didn’t watch D drron sharp and DQ Whitehead maybe you didn’t watch joshh Giddy and so the people that watch these guys 82 games they’re going to automatically assume you know these guys are pretty good right and and you know home home announcers and and media people they come up with all sorts of reasons about why team is bad this guy’s injured that guy’s injured but very often the team is bad because they have a lot of people in places that they don’t belong right Gary Trent is a starter it just in the NBA it’s it’s a certain cap or limit he’s one of the worst starters in the NBA put him on the bench and he struggles so it’s like the the one thing that he can do is be a fifth starter and it’s like if he’s your fifth starter defensively you’re compromised now this was hard when you had OG Pascal Scotty and yakob and Fred but with RJ bro you cannot start him you will lose every single game you you will lose so many games if you start this guy cuz RJ plus Tim plus man quickly is not only a super small back cour it’s not only a super small team right but it’s also a really bad defensive team so it’s like and and by the way none of those guys are overly Dynamic off the dribble like arj can can attack a close out and manual quickly can come off like whatever but none of those guys have like that break you down you know like Jaylen Brown even like skill set right so it’s like what you need from that position is like I would rather have Zack LaVine there to be honest because at least he can do stuff he’s a good shooter you know he’s athletic maybe he’s not that great a Defender Dorian Smith the opposite version just the three and D guy at least you’re providing value yeah and a skill set that complement the other players exactly and and it’s just like I don’t know I I just I I I think very oh my God yeah yeah yeah kickass Productions I remember James Harden had only one option Gary Trent Jr remember the 69ine lineup remember Vision 69 because uh Fred couldn’t play oh yeah his only option was Gary was Gary I remember that I’m like get Gary off the court literally put all 69ine guys bue and precious at the same time I don’t even care yeah do you recall this like what s Antonio saying here um I can give you many examples just this year alone no seaker OG he held halberton to two for 116 to mention the following game he held young I’m assuming Trey young four of 136 of the completely depleted roster um honestly man I watch every single game and I do not remember him being a good Defender at all this year um the analytics are not lying to you on this one he’s pretty much been a terrible Defender his entire career he’s extremely limited defensively he gets lost he does not navigate screen super well he is just a guy who can apply some pressure now also I think it’s worth saying that very rarely can you credit someone else’s bad performance to someone else defensively it’s very rare that it’s an individual effort it’s usually a team effort that being said Scotty holding you know um Steph Curry to that horrible night that is officially a that’s that’s an individual effort he did 85% of the work to get that I don’t remember Gary being tasked to guard Tyrese halberton one on1 you know 85 times 85 times in a game or whatever and is it possible that tyres Alberton just had a really bad game because he’s coming back from the injuries like was this after his injury or before his injury I don’t remember this I’m GNA have to look it up right now but I don’t I don’t I don’t believe this to be I don’t believe this I don’t even know why I don’t even know why we’re defending mediocrity I’m just going to quote Messiah believe in yourself believe in your city y we’re better than this we’re fighting over Gary bro if he walks who cares again depends on what you he’s not gonna make or break this team he’s nowhere near good enough agreed to like matter he is not a priority I guarantee you he’s not a priority in the Raptors War minutes okay let’s see this game okay let’s just pull it up so this is the game I assume this is the game you’re talking about hold on one second so this is the game in question okay Gary Trent Jr played 30 minutes according to you he guarded tyres Halton you know the entire game all 30 yeah right um okay and Gary I still remember Rob I remember when the Raptor’s digest guy said Gary had dpoy bro I I’m like this guy does Raptors when he said that Rob I was like I think I can make Raptor content I know more than this guy but yeah that was you know I think like a lot of people got cooked for for their Gary takes because and I mean you know s Antonio is currently going to get cooked for his it takes because it’s just like people people assume like steals or blocks Etc um okay he’s he’s an asset we need to maximize not give up on bro let me explain something to you I I assume you you are here because you genuinely want to have a conversation about this you cannot consider someone an asset when you overpay them to a point where no one would ever trade for them the Raptors tried to trade Gary Trent two years in a row and could not secure a first round pick at all they could bar barely get a second round pick for him that was of any consequence last year if you’re willing to pay $18 million or $15 million for a player that no other team in the league is willing to give up a second round pick for you’re not you’re not getting an asset you’re getting junk you don’t understand that Gary and I talked to you about this in the last live Gary is basically a lesser version of the same predicament um the bull stars in Zack LaVine scorer not so much worse though but he is so much worse but the skill set and the ID is the same non-play makak two guard who who doesn’t defend and scores those just invaluable that skill set is invaluable but I think but here’s the thing the big difference here is I think Zack line is a playmaking shooting guard it just so happens okay Rusty buckets had a video the other day which I highly encourage people to go check out and he talked about the death of a position he talked about the death of position of the power forward right and he talked about this eradication or Erasure of power forwards in the NBA typical power forwards like Horus Grant and you know AC Green and Carl Malone just don’t exist in the NBA so basically he’s like that entire position just got cannibalized by Stretch bigs and big wings right so every Power Forward today is like some version of Jeremy Grant right and it makes sense you just don’t have guys operating out of the mid block like Tim Duncan anymore right those guys are now centers even Tim Duncan later in his career he became a center and so you talk about that and he’s like what position is next and he talked about shooting guard and and I think you know that that the two guard who cannot guard bigger wings and cannot switch up and also is not Dynamic enough to handle the pick and roll as a ball handler and also as a defensive liability is like the worst value for money in the league it’s the worst player type you absolutely do not need it yep unless you’re getting an elite version of it right like because at least Michael Porter Jr is 610 right at least he’s 610 right and and and and and there in lies the sort of you know positional versatility element of it but like honestly Michael Mike Porter Jor is nowhere near worth that contract yeah he’s worth maximum 22 to 24 million I agree but you can talk yourself into him you can’t talk your you can’t logically talk your yourself into Gary you can’t you can’t not with all the evidence we have not with all the evidence and video footage that exists you can’t yeah I I think I think it’s clear um I would love to see Gary back at 8 n million I think that would be fair now you’re talking you know but but when you start getting into 12 13 14 even if you can sell yourself on some other team maybe giving them that because they’re desperate for shooting that’s their problem and their prerogative you not consider that an asset out the door because to me realistically you can get a player better than him and develop him     Ryan Dunn is someone we can get NOW.
    If Masai really loves him he might need to get him at 19. Which could be viewed as a big reach now. But if you just pray he drops to 31 he prob won’t. I think he will go 24/25 to the Knicks. If not there, 27 to the wolves. They are losing Kyle Anderson. Anderson does a bit of everything. Ryan Dunn could be better than OG on the defensive end in 2 years. He’s a stud. My dream draft for the raps has been yves Messi or Kyle filipowski at 19, and Ryan Dunn or Keyshawn George at 31
