But the Lakers are cheap! Impossible! They should have paid Hurley more than three times that much! /s

Really though this is salary inflation for coaches. Blame the Pistons.

Monty being top 4 is too fucking funny, I’m crying. The Lakers are in a rough spot, but I thank God we aren’t the Pistons.

  3. Ty Lue is at $14 million per year and some of these figures like Mazzulla and Thibs will go into double digits once they extend. With the new tv rights deal money coaches salaries will likely rise in the next few years. $8 million per year will likely become the new normal in terms of average yearly salary.

Greatest franchise in the league has to pay greatest franchise in the league money

Darvin Ham was second to last, he really was a budget coach huh!

I think Lue and Kidd numbers are actually higher now.

  7. 1. The contract Detroit gave Monty messed up the salary market for the coaches

    2. You’ve got to consider that JJ was working with ESPN and was making good money pod casting. Lakers had to match or pay him more to leave ESPN and spend less time pod casting.

Trevor Lawrence is tied for the highest QB salary in the NFL. Kirk Cousins is top 8 or so. It’s as much about who signed most recently as it is quality of coach.

Oh this is really going to piss off Malone. Lol

Just another bad decision biting the team in the ass.

  11. 8 million is basically mid tier salary now. 12 teams in the NBA are paying 8 million or higher for their coaches.

Still a slight over pay for a first time head coach with basically zero coaching experience, but let’s not act like it’s a jaw dropping overpay.

JJ Redick is even more capable than we realized. Excellent work on his part to secure this salary. According to reports, they negotiated this salary over a period of days.

Redick was aware of what the Lakers offered Hurley, which weakened the Lakers’ negotiating position by revealing their willingness to pay. Also, Redick understood the Lakers’ situation, with the fan base becoming restless over the coaching vacancy. This meant that if Redick wasn’t satisfied with the offer, the Lakers risked being rejected by their top two candidates—something they absolutely wanted to avoid.

most coaches from here will be paid this much

  14. Air_Enthusiast

I don’t see why it should matter. It won’t affect the cap

  15. EverybodyBuddy

Coaches’ salaries are going up. Not much more to the story than that.

  16. GoalPublic3579

Absolutely fucking INSANE we are paying him this much.

The team is run by idiots. There is no other word for it.
Stupidity is running high in the management of our team.

That’s more to do with progression of salary over the years then him getting a favorable deal
