I like the JJ Rey for the Lakers I know there’s going to be a lot of focus on his inexperience and some of the risks involved there but I didn’t think there was a candidate in the field that came without risk it felt like an inevitable part of the process given where the coaching Market was at this summer and some of the realities of the timeline that the Lakers are on right there are two things that I think give JJ a really good chance to succeed one he’s a psychotic competitor why would you give up your cush broadcasting job to coach the Lakers Which is far more labor intense far more travel intense far more pressure far more criticism give me talent and competitiveness any day of the week they’re going to find a way to succeed and then the second piece of it is JJ’s a really bright basketball mind especially on the offensive end of the floor this was a Laker team that embraced five out last year and experienc some real growth I think JJ can help them get to the next level there give them that staff full of experienced coaches LeBron James the most experienced star in the league I think that JJ’s got a good a good chance to succeed there

    I’m surprised and not surprised that you like the JJ hire. I think about it like this. I’d legit trust you, Jason Timpf to be the coach than someone like Darvin Ham. JJ, like you know the game, communicates very very well, has a strong personality that demands respect and on top of that has the playing career so he knows some internal workings of the league. He’s not even close to being a perfect hire but I absolutely can see the potential.

    Career suicide for JJ. he couldnt have gone to a worse situation.

    Better option for him? Be an assistant to an actual good coachlike Spo, mazzula, Pop, mike malone, nick nurse. Or if he really wants to be a head coach, go to low pressure situation like washington, detroit or cleveland.

    I like JJ I think he did a great job on the finals and his podcast/YouTube. But now he is our mortal enemy in Boston.
