Boston gonna establish a 3rd apron for teams that clearly don’t get the message.
Is McGee still serviceable these days? All the Celtics can offer are vet minimum contracts and small roles in the rotation. I don’t expect Bitadze to take that kind of deal at such a young age. Bol Bol is… Not good.
Do the C’s have a shot at keeping Tillman?
Luckily, cheap backup big by committee is pretty easy to do in the regular season
Celtics definitely have to keep the team together. And Bol would be a good fit IMO
Brad Stevens does his homework well, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t just find a viable backup in the draft.
Masterclass in team building. They have the brightest future (with okc close behind) in the league and that pains me to say.
4/126 for D-White is a steal
Honestly I think 126 is pretty fair for d white and it should get done this summer
It makes sense if Grousbeck is liquid and has a fan’s mindset. Who knows how Wyc squares $ and title odds.
They have to keep the master of buzzer-beaters; Sam Hauser.
At the end of the day the ownership ticks it all off. If they are happy to far exceed the 2nd apron then let’s do it.
Our big saving grace is we own all our picks except 1 till 2030
As much as I hate to admit it, they’re probably one of 2 teams with a legit shot at a dynasty. Really hope the rest of the East improves significantly, just getting healthy might not do the trick.
They will have close to 1 billion dollars tied to their starting lineup.
315 for Tatum,
304 for Brown,
135 for Holiday,
126 for white,
60 for Porzingis
That’s not a “max”, as in a max contract amount. It’s simply the most he’s eligible for on an extension, which is based on current salary. If he waited until free agency, he could get a real max offer from anybody.
Important distinction because if White believed he could get more than $31/yr, there’s merit to waiting.
That said, I don’t think anyone believes White can get more than that, including his own self, so locking in that money seems like a no-brainer given how well he fits in Boston.
This is the rare time where the majority of your investment can be made AFTER proven and historically consistent results (in terms of total losses and almost no multiple L’s in a row)
If you don’t sell out here and mortgage your future with legitimate winners who’ve mostly seen it all since 2016, then you never should tbh
Javale McGee…lol
I just don’t see Bol Bol as an improvement.
Just keep Tillman, Kornet. and Queta. Tillman was a good backup in the finals, Kornet delivered as a backup all season, and Queta is young and has a ton of potential. Not to mention they’re all part of the current culture already and I bet would be happy to stick around for short money.
I actually think we’re good if we just keep who we have. Kornet was looking a lot better this season before his injury and Queta has a lot of potential. Tillman can guard bigs as well. Given how unseriously most teams take the regular season now I think we could rest Horford and Porzingus on any given night and still be competitive.
funny thing is one of the penalties will be their pick going to the end of the 1st round… like OH NO what a penalty lol
Boston has to go all in for the dynasty. Even if it means becoming the Pistons in 7-10 years.
Role Players needs to get paid too!
Always wild seeing former Spurs rotational players make it big on other teams. Get that bag Derrick.
I feel like this particular salary cap conundrum league-wide can be easily solved with a couple of expansion teams.
A half billion of dollars go to just 2 players. Goddamn
Can anybody explain to me how the Celtics can afford to pay all these guys??
why is 126 the max for derrick white, or is that just the max they can afford? couldn’t some other team offer him more if they wanted to?
In the long run, all that matters is having plus value contracts. Every team who is not 100% happy at certain positions would gladly take on Jrue, White, Tatum, Brown for what they’re making / will make because they’re all plus value contracts, especially as the new TV rights deal comes through. So worst case scenario if they need to trade one of those guys to get off the money they will be able to get a fair return. That being said, I think this team is in its current state for the next 2 years, maybe even the next 3
“aeging Al Horford”
I don’t think Big Al is edging any longer.
Re-sign Tillman and they’ll be fine. He, Kornet, and Queta can easily fill the gap in the regular season.
Bol Bol makes the most sense cause Celtics would still be able to sit 5 players at the 3 where all 5 can either shoot, drive, or make the pass.
Makes too much sense
I don’t understand nba contracts anymore
As
this guy will block you on twitter for mentioning his evan mobley/tim duncan thing
