[Slater] Talks between Klay Thompson and the Warriors are essentially frozen, per sources. There has been no offer made. It’s more probable than ever he may leave the only franchise he’s known, regardless of his market.

Article also mentions Looney’s contract is likely to be guaranteed.

  2. Didn’t somebody just say yesterday that a 2 year offer was made?

  3. > Klay Thompson isn’t currently mulling a shorter-than-desired offer from the Golden State Warriors. Despite a wide open negotiation window, there isn’t a one-year, two-year or three-year deal on the table. Because nothing is currently on the table, according to **league sources.** There’s been no productive discussion between the Warriors and Thompson or his representatives.

Love a good “league sources” lol. Not sources close to anyone involved, but just general league sources.

    > Kevon Looney, drafted in 2015, has been a member of the Warriors for nearly nine years. It appears that his tenure will continue into next week. Only $3 million of Looney’s $8 million is currently guaranteed for next season. The other $5 million guarantees on Monday, presenting the possibility he could be released.
    >
    > But that isn’t the Warriors’ current plan, according to league sources. They are expected to let the rest of Looney’s $8 million contract guarantee, keeping him in their current plans, though it does remain possible they eventually use his salary to help complete an offseason trade.

Loon is a classic case of he’s more valuable to the Warriors than he is to anyone else, so suggestions of him being a trade piece is funny to me lol.

Edit to add: also, to apply even a morsel of critical thought to the Klay bit – not making ANY offer at all to a franchise legend would be reputation suicide for the Warriors among players in the league. Way more than it would if they made an offer a very low amount. No offer at all is an insane route to take for a founding member of the franchise as it’s known now. So just keep that in mind re: the suggestion that what Slater says here is the final, or credible, word on the matter.

On the bright-side, it sounds like Looney is gonna get his $8M fully guaranteed, and not necessarily just for salary filler in an eventual trade.

Really hope he bounces back from last season. May do him some good to rest more games throughout the season, instead of pushing for that 82-ironman-Loon title

I thought there was a contract offered on the table??

I swear ppl have posted that before.

  6. If Orlando or Philly doesn’t have him as a priority, what’s an offer for him look like? He’s not better than Monk. 30/2 maybe. Warriors have the leverage cuz MDJ has no emotional ties to him. Only way is if Lacob gets involved like he did with Draymond’s contract

  7. He scored 0 points in a play in game, last year he went 3/19 for 8 points in an elimination game. He has to get realistic on how much teams really value him

  8. RidiculousNickk

This kinda tells me we’ve found a trade that we are using Cp3’s contract for, really hoping it’s either no assets and get lavine or we get one of the big fish, like Paul George.

  9. sonegreat

I don’t know if the warriors want him back. Just cause of the cap. I think they want to get out of second apron.

  10. amlanding20

Could be a Ray Allen situation, taking less for a better situation and a chance to show your former team what they missed on.

  11. I want Klay back with the Warriors, and not just for sentimental reasons. His shooting is absolutely needed and he can help the team in the right context.

With that said, I think this is good news. We need to bring in outside talent and Klay needs to take a back seat to those trade talks. As long as we are chasing a big trade, we won’t know exactly how much money we can offer Klay.

If there was a firm Klay offer on the table from the Warriors, it would mean that we weren’t very serious about upgrading the roster around Klay. Bottom line, he just needs to be patient.

  12. Coolguynumber01

I love Klay, but i also love how this article says the front office is prioritizing ways to improve the roster overall

  13. > detached from some of the built-up friction of the previous couple seasons.

Dude’s angry Warriors gave him a 5 year max and saved his starting spot while he was out 2.5 years. Delusional

  14. frootluipdungis

This was extremely obvious to anyone paying attention. The most reasonable course of action is to seek alternatives that would upgrade the team, first, then see what‘s left for Klay. If that’s not enough or he doesn’t like that, it is what is. It’s also possible that bringing Klay back just won’t make sense after said upgrades.

  15. Maguire4BallonDOr

lol all the klay glazers on this sub where swearing he was trolling and his own IG was hAcKeD by his agent and deleted his warriors related posts.

    Delusional

  16. Klay had a great deal last season. He turned it down to “bet on himself.” He then proceeded to shoot 0/10 in an elimination game.

Fuck him. Ego is a helluva drug.

  17. contaygious

Why does he think he deserves to be longer than steph and draymond and Kerr?

  18. Sokkawater10

Basically nobody wants him. Warriors don’t want him and are gently trying to push him out, but there’s no market out there for him either.

League thinks Klay is ass now basically. Can’t say they are wrong

  19. if he decides to leave, at least we can try for a sign and trade like we did with KD so he doesnt leave for nothing?

  20. rishmanisation

I don’t think either side owes the other anything. Power to Klay for looking for the best deal for himself, but the Warriors have to do the same for themselves.

Hopefully we can bring him back at a reasonable number but no ill-will however it ends up working out.

  21. Nothings concrete and I don’t give a shit about these articles

  22. Curry has to be ok with it. He’s still good enough to get someone any contract

  23. KylosApprentice

Would really hate to see him go but gotta be realistic-he hasn’t quite been thoroughly the same since coming back from his injuries.

Maybe trade him and CP3 for a big name so Steph has more help this coming season. 🤷

  24. Pepetodapin

I’m pretty sure some other team will overpay for Klay’s services.

    Adios Klay. 👋

  25. AlligatorPill

Been trying to tell y’all for a week they don’t want him back.

  26. IMHO: Championship window is already shut, as is evident that we can’t even get past the Kings at full strength. We had our Last Dance, and now we have no assets to get back to being the top 4 teams in the league. it’s time to build for the future.

Love Klay but it’s for the best

  27. eschatonx

Sounds like Klay and the Warriors had a falling out with the way this article is written.

It breaks my heart to even hear Klay possibly leaving, but man, this ain’t 2019. Klay just isn’t even close to a max player.

  28. dam_adam81

Will he still flash the 4 rings gesture to opponents when he’s getting blown out on the magic??

  29. egarcia1313

Bye klay i wish u were open to adjusting your game, guess not…
