Cassell has been listed as a candidate for other staffs, but this move would keep him in Boston barring a head coaching offer.
Per u/TheSteinLine, the Celtics plan to elevate Sam Cassell. It's a promotion that keeps him on Joe Mazzulla's staff rather than risk him taking the same job elsewhere
Cassell worked closely w/ Jayson Tatum, playing an instrumental role in helping him elevate his post-up game.

Thank goodness. Losing Lee and Cassell plus not having JVG to replace one of them in one offseason would’ve been horrible. Definitely much more manageable now
Still crazy nobody has given him a shot at coaching
Elevate him to what exactly?
They’re promoting him to Sam Citadel.

I need Sam Hauser to do the big balls dance every time he makes an important shot
Would rather have Cassell than JJ Ridick. Cassell is due for a hc gig.
assistant coach gets promoted to assistant coach
We should’ve pursued him
If last year proved anything it’s that having a competent assistant staff is *super* important, regardless of who your head coach is.
Love it . I was sad lee left us , hopefully he stays for a couple more years
I’m shocked no one has offered this man an HC job. Or they have and he’s being selective, which I wouldn’t blame him for. Fun player to watch back in the day.
Cassell was KNOWN for putting smaller/inexperienced guards in an absolute torture chamber in the post. One of the best post up guards to do it.
pay the man. whatever he did, it worked
Can’t believe we are not even going to give him an interview
How has he not been given a head coaching position yet, but JJ redick has lmao
ET phone home
Damn they’re promoting him from Assistant Coach to Assistant Coach, hopefully it comes with a hefty pay raise.
