BREAKING: Detroit Pistons Have FIRED Monty Williams!

Detroit Pistons have made another significant move by firing Monty Williams I know the lower third says Trent langon dis Mrs Monty williams’ head coach it is now being reported that the decision was made at an ownership level by Tom gors I I I would assume with Trent langdon’s blessing I would I would assume but here’s the Tweet WJ put it out and he broke the news ESPN sources after one season the Detroit Pistons have dismissed coach Monte Williams who leaves with 5 years and 65 million plus left out his deal new president trer langon will move to make his own coaching higher now he quote tweeted that Williams a two-time NBA coach of the year was lowed to Detroit with a massive six-year deal after leaving the Suns he was initial he had initially planned to sit out a season while dealing with his wife’s cancer diagnosis but took on Pistons rebuild under Troy Weaver now a new front office makes a change and Detroit will start another search then he put out the decision to fire Williams was made at an ownership level sources tell ESPN and like I said I would assume that tran weighed in on that decision but Tom gors already made it clear that he was open to eating the contract so I I do appreciate that about Tom Gores I mean hey he was willing to eat the money I mean he gave Monty Williams a bag last off season so to eat that type of money respect but at the same time who do they bring in next that’s probably the biggest question and and I I want to say this too about Monty Williams I don’t know if his heart was ever in it I mean he was going through so much off the court that when you give someone that type of money yeah you’re damn right I’m going to coach but I don’t know if you truly had Monty Williams it just seemed like he was out of character last year there were so many storylines that were coming out with Jay Navy misusing him assar Thompson from how he started to how he finished so many so many confusing storylines that were frustrating I will I will not deny that and I’ve already made it clear that I was open to give him Williams another year to to evaluate him with a better roster but this move I don’t have an issue with I’ve already made that clear as well that if Traen wants to hire his own coach I completely understand that I mean anybody in a leadership role a new leadership role that person ideally wants to bring in their own people and I think head coach being one of those guys so I’m curious who they bring in there’s a lot of good coaches available uh you have James bgo who was actually one year with the Spurs when trer Langdon was with the Spurs that’s an interesting note you have Kenny ainson who’s available Chris Quinn who’s probably my pick and I’ll tell you why in a second the James bro thing is in is interesting because of the connection there both working with the San Antonio Spurs but I think the next head coach has to be an AB an absolute tactician and X is an O Savon someone that can develop players right offensively defensively schematically shake things up and you need this this next head coach to be basically hip-to-hip with Kate Cunningham because he is your franchise player so there are a lot of different ways the Pistons could go but ideally you want someone who is younger knows where the game’s going I mean we just watched the Celtics win a championship yeah their roster is incredible but Joe moula is an excellent head coach he’s younger he fits modern day basketball and that’s where the League’s heading and I think Chris Quinn is the perfect guy for that I think you interviewed already for the Pistons job when Monty was hired and he was someone that took some interviews That season as well that offseason and I think Chris Quinn would be a great addition he’s 40 years old uh he fits again modern day basketball and he’s a tactician I mean Eric spola is one of my favorite coaches in the league and he’s his top assistant so I do think that’s a great fit there you know I I it’s it’s tough I mean Kate Cam’s gonna have three head coaches in his career but at the same time the Pistons as an organization just haven’t been able to build around them and ultimately you you’re going to fire the head coach if things don’t go right and that’s what they’ve done you know things haven’t been working out Monty Williams now hits the door so the biggest decision this this franchise will make one of the bigger decisions will be who they bring in next it could be franchise altering like this is how important this decision is and you don’t want to bring in another one after this like you you don’t want K to have four head coaches in less than a decade you know it’s just not just not ideal so they have to nail this head coaching height absolutely have to nail this and Monty Williams gets to go on a beach somewhere and enjoy all his money that he made uh money that he’s going to make for absolutely doing nothing and that’s not the near hero or there it’s a great job to have but Trey J langon is not playing any games and he’s shown that this offseason firing Troy Weaver now Tom Gores I get that making the decision to fire Monty but I’m sure Tran he waited on it a little bit that’s just me it’s I I don’t have any sources that’s just me guessing but I I would assume that he at least weighed in on the decision but tron’s not playing any games man and I I am I I have been impressed now in terms of uh moves there hasn’t been any roster moves so we have yet to see any of that the draft and free agency but at least cleaning out the organization they’re not playing around and I do respect that but which coach who which which coach is going to come here and take this job that’s probably the other question I would ask and Tom’s not afraid to pay money but man if you’re a head coach it depends on where you are at in your career if you’re a firsttime head coach maybe you’re more open to it or maybe you’re thinking I’m just going to wait for the right opportunity maybe if you’re a coach that’s been around the league and been fired a couple times you’re more open to taking this opportunity you know the the Pistons whoever turns this organization around will be beloved there’s a lot to gain off you know winning games here but man as an organization it’s been depressing and I don’t know how intriguing that is maybe the owner the owner that’s that’s willing to pay is intriguing but the multiple head coaches that’s not intriguing no one able to stay put for a while that’s not intriguing so I I I am curious how it goes again my pick is Chris Quinn but I I want your guys’ thoughts James brego do not count him out because of that Spurs connection I will say that again but what do you guys think comment down below what’s your ideal I coach for the Pistons what do you want it to look like I’ll ask you that and comment down below I’ll try to respond to as many as I can and don’t forget to subscribe and like the video because when you guys like the video it helps push the video out in the algorithm which helps us as well until next time I’ll catch you guys

  1. Keep in mind as well.. this decision was made before Trajan Langdon's press conference. It definitely helps to avoid those "Are you keeping Monty Williams questions" AND James Borrego was also with the Pelicans with Trajan Langdon as well as the Spurs for a short period of time.

Chris Quinn would be my ideal fit, imagine bringing that heat culture to the Detroit Pistons as well as what he can do schematically.

  2. Dany Hurley šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚…it must be nice to be the owner because even of a bad team like thr pistons are right now. Tom Gores still turned a profit from this team. And then he owned up to his mistake and paid that 65 mil$. That's all good but still Tom doesn't know basketball and he is setting this young core way back from developing.

  3. Officially the worst owner in professional sports!!!!! AND THIS THE 3RD PODCAST GIVING THIS MAN CREDIT!!!!!!!!! CMON PEOPLE STOP IT!!!!! GORES IS KILLING THIS FRANCHISE AND THIS CITY. All he has done is throw multiple coaches and GMS under the bus!! and we act like throwing money around is all good!! Nobody is making sense right now if you actually think this man knows how to run an organization. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT TRAJON DOES. THE OWNER AND ISSUES WILL REMAIN. NO DIRECTION NO IDENTITY NO WINS!!!!!!

  4. What is $65M to a guy worth $9B? Great move. Gores owning a huge mistake and making the change. Good on him.

  5. I never knew he was going to sit out a season because his wife had cancer. He only came the coach because they gave him an offer nobody could refuse, it kinda makes me look at Monty in a different light because his head was never all the way on the team it was on his wife.

  6. My guess: They hire James Borrego being the connection

What I want: HIRE Chris Quinn and let him build a new culture here in Detroit.

  7. I am withdrawing from consideration for the head coach position, thank you for your effort and good luck.

  8. Pistons, specifically ownership, are finally taking accountability for their bad choices. Shows Tom Gores does have a spine and is willing to listen to Trayjan as the President of Basketball Operations. Good to see the updates Jeff! Keep up the strong work!

  9. Wow! This one surprised me! I thought they were gonna give him another year honestly at LEAST! Iā€™m shocked actually.

  10. Monty never wanted to couch here he only came for the money and it was clearly obvious watching this team playšŸ–•šŸ½Monty
