come on in the room come on in the room Cream City crossover back at it again uh it’s the bucks off seon the the Boston Celtics have been named champions of the world uh that’s right that’s the guru Tre Crosby the third Chris King hey and they’ve been asking us Chris they’ve been asking us hey Guru when you coming back when you when you bringing this the the videos back what’s going on where you at where you at people been asking and now we’re back uh I know you dropped the video the other the other week uh some Buck Draft preview lots of different things going on uh again we talked about the Boston Celtics and the Champions uh but now more bucks rumors uh have hit the rumor mill and we’re talking about the big man Brook Lopez uh Brook Lopez and this is according to uh some reports out of the ringer as well as I saw some stuff on real GM where uh the Milwaukee Bucks report leag would like to play a more versatile style of Defense next season which raises the question of whether Brook Lopez has a future there that’s Kevin oconor of the ringer making the reports um again disappoint finish to the 2022 2023 season for the bucks um and and they’re looking for maybe some new strategies that could mean the end of Brook Lopez’s tenure uh Bucs of course are bounced out of the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers uh ok Conor Nam Toronto Raptor veteran Wing Bruce Bowen as a top trade candid for the bucks noted that swiping I said Bruce Bowen Bruce Brown um excuse me noted the swapping Lopez Brown is a perfect match of salaries and then the raps could flip Lopez elsewhere he added the amount of screening and cutting Brown could do in support of Giannis and Dame would be glorious to watch of course Lopez uh join the Bucks in 2018 he’s been an anchor on defense for the past six years 16-year vet he appeared in 79 games last season average 12 and a half points five boards and two and a half blocks Chris I I’m looking at that and again you know you know what you know what the first thing that comes to mind for me when I hear more versatile defense and all the things The Bu you want the first comes mind me Adrien Griffin Adrian Griffin that’s what the Dr Griffin wanted to do and Dr Griffin told us over and over and over and the things I’ve been reporting over and over over about the Milwaukee books again we got to do a wrapup show that I can really so I can really spell and and and and and and discuss some of this and put it out but this is all Adrian Griffin wanted to do with his basketball team told you when he came in he told you when John hor hired him we this team needs to be more versatile needs to change up their defensive schemes you can’t win like this anymore that’s what he was trying to put into the team now again you can ask questions about well did he have the Personnel to do it y y should he have played that try to play that type of scheme without having that Personnel maybe again a different story but my point is Adrian Griffin knew what the Bucks needed the Bucks did not give him the support that he needed uh to get it done and again in this in this situation Brook Lopez may end up being a casualty because of it um I I look at this and again I I see the report I I I I can’t help but agree um again we talk about some other guys Bobby Bobby poris and and Pat conton but I’ll sit on Brook Lopez right now um and and and I don’t I don’t know I think your issue with Brook Lopez is he’s slow he’s uh slow-footed he’s always been lumbering but again 16 years in the league he’s getting into his into his mid late 30s all those things start to add up those m start to add up on you and Brook Lopez is a guy where the Bucks need Youth and you you saw it all last year they need youth they need athleticism they need bigs that can that can run up and down the court you saw what I mean some of the things you see from these different style defenses in the playoffs that were successful the Bucks don’t have it and one of the reasons is because Brook Lopez is lumbering in the paint playing drop defense and again oh by the way Adrian Griffin gets fired he gets terminated because he’s playing a defense that the that that they abandoned The Versatile style defense he tried to implement within the first five games of the season so again just goes to show me one Agri gets a uh the the bad end of the stick and then on the other side of things I’m looking at Brook Lopez and I can’t help but agree when I hear some of these reports I don’t know if it be for Bruce brown or what the what the match and swaps will be uh but I’m looking at and I go yeah I don’t I don’t know that I’m I’m not so caught up in Nostalgia that I need Brook Lopez on the basketball team oh I don’t either and what did you say about couple weeks before the playoff if this thing did flame out and obviously we we didn’t know about the injuries necessarily that they would face but if this thing did flame out then the only people we would really want to keep is Giannis and Dame and so now you’re starting to look at how aggressive uh John horse can be and obviously we saw what Chris Middleton did in in the playoffs and now we’re you know may maybe turning the other cheek on that but yeah I’ll also say that it’s not just the defensive part of Brook Lopez that you’re looking at it’s also the offense when he came in he was vintage Brook Lopez from the Nets he’s he’s banging down low he’s getting getting to his hook shots getting to his spots and now you’re seeing a guy slow as molasses uh you know just looking a little more limited than than he once was and so I think you’re looking um at a at a point in the off season where who am I most willing to move and for me it would be Brook Lopez too so I don’t I don’t hate the idea at all especially you know and I’ll get into some of The Bigs that are in this draft who you might be able to get to not not necessarily replace Brook Lopez but to at least weather the storm a little bit if you go get a guy like Bruce Brown um yeah I think I think Brook Lopez would be number one on my list what what about um what about a guy let’s look out in Memphis and what if you saw now again you the the report named a guy uh Bruce brown but what if I look at Memphis and I see a guy like Marcus Smart right what what what about some type somebody like that could could a Marcus Smart come to the Bucks and again kind of replace again the the the Boston Cel replace Drew Marcus Smart with Drew holiday could the Bucks replace Drew holiday with Marcus Smart uh and kind of and maybe uh Shore up that backcourt defensively uh and then like you said you try to replace Brook Lopez as best you can or figure it out maybe in free agency or slash the draft what you want to do but but what do you think about a guy like Marcus Smart in Milwaukee would you would you like something like that do you think he would fit uh the identity and the mold of what this team will be under Doc Rivers next year I think 100% I think that was one thing that you lacked all season last year was a guy who could really guard on the perimeter even when you did go out and get Pat Bev there was still some uh lapses within that defense and I think that goes with not only just the guard depth that we have or lack of rather and also playing that drop coverage with Brooke in the pick and roll and teams trying to Target that I think it would be essentially killing two birds with one stone I mean you you get rid of Brook Lopez and then you grab Marcus Smart um you’re not going to be hunted as much as you would if Brook Lopez is still on the squad and then you just sure up that depth in the back court I think that would be a really good move and we’ve been advocating for Marcus Smart to be a buck since the deadline it just didn’t happen that way I think he got hurt right I’m not sure yeah he didn’t he got injured got injured so there really wasn’t a reason to go get him but that was a guy before his injury that that we thought maybe could come in for the bucks and also look if you get Marcus Smart there’s a passion there there’s a passion to to go beat that team that just won the NBA Finals there’s a passion to go beat that team who traded him and so I think that would be a good move for the bucks like you mentioned uh Chris that that’s what we’ve been kind of advocating for uh we we’ve s especially not not just in Marcus SM but even on Brook Lopez I I think a lot of people again sometimes times run out time ran out for Mike booser time ran out for Drew holiday I think the time probably has come and run out on Brook Lopez maybe a couple of these Milwaukee Bucks uh that won a championship with the bucks back in 2021 and that’s the thing uh uh about the old days what they say about the old days they the old days so you gotta you gotta keep moving forward you gotta progress you got to change things up and again like you said Dame Giannis those are the two I keep Chris as well I think Chris is going anywhere um but those are the Bucks the Bucks have those are the guys the core guys and it’s just funny that core has changed and it’s it’s not so memorable anymore and especially if you get rid of Brook Lopez it’s not g to be such a memorable team outside of 2021 outside of Chris and Giannis and we’ll see what happens but yeah I’m an advocate for Brook Lopez again not that not there’s anything wrong with with him and I think he’s gonna have some suits so I think the Bucks are gonna be able to make moves but again you can’t two straight playoff exits in the first round you got to get rid of somebody and again people are going to be casualties you starting to see that uh and the cases will add up as long as the Bucks do not perform uh when it when it matters most and that’s whether you have injuries or not again somebody’s got to pay for it you cannot keep losing uh definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result bucks got to change up do something different right here uh Chris any anything else on Brook Lopez I I I I think I’ve set my piece here on him and where I want it what what about you yeah I just think that you know we can’t hold on to the past as much as we want to as much as it’s so great that they got us a of finals uh a couple years ago but you know you you finally see the Celtics win the NBA finals and and you start to see that threat that they could really become especially you know coming off of that title so I I think there should be some urgency this offseason whatever they do I I wouldn’t be surprised uh with anything the Bucks do really in this off season um just because you failed multiple times in a row at this point um and then the last thing I’ll say is it’s good to have you back Reports have surfaced that the Bucks are willing to move Brook Lopez. After three years of disappointment, it is time to be aggressive in the off-season. The Bucks can look to the draft to find a Lopez replacement and acquire assets for the future of MKE basketball.
