Raptors Free Agency Update – Toronto Named as a DESTINATION for Patrick Williams | Raptors News

a major Raptor’s free agan target has been revealed and we know MSU jiri’s been pretty active in terms of making moves for this Raptor’s roster moving forward in the future and Patrick Williams is a guy that fits a Scotty Barnes timeline he’s an elite sort of wing player that could play the forward spot and him potentially coming into the Toronto Raptors would have a serious effect on other free agents that we have we’ve also brought in host of bulls digest Rico greenhow to break down to dive into who Patrick Williams is as a player and whether or not makes sense for the Toronto Raptors to actually go after him and get him but Rico welcome to the channel and we’re talking Patrick Williams sir what are your initial thoughts on this guy before we dive into the latest reports well I feel like he was a sleeper pick for the Chicago Bulls that is still sleeping and I think that at the end of the day the experiment is over here in Chicago and I think it is probably best that Chicago gets ready to move on from Patrick Williams as painful as that uh that statement that’s fair that’s fair he’s a guy that had a lot of hype a lot of potential coming in another number four overall pick but the Bulls after the Alex Caruso trade and all the rumors that are spiraling up right now it feels like they’re cleaning house and one of their big free agents seems like as you mentioned could be on his way out so let’s break down the report because the Bulls and this is comeing from Jake fiser of Yahoo sports the Bulls have been communicating with rival teams a desire to reshape their roster League sources have told Yahoo sports the Bulls GM who I don’t want even want to try to pronounce or GM headed basketball operations I don’t want to pronounce his name but front office has struck a deal that brings the first player back to Chicago via trade in three years obviously getting Josh giddy Port goes on to say that although many Executives from opposing teams believed a potential construct for a Patrick Williams sign in trade could go down with the fourth year forward being set to enter restrictive free agency with OKC Toronto and Charlotte already being mentioned by League personnel as possible Landing spots for Williams outside of Chicago so again he’s entering restrictive free agency so the Bulls have some ability to to keep him on their group on their roster switching to the wrong scene there Rico but they’re saying a potential sign in trade might be able to be struck for Chicago to make a type of deal happen what type of player would the Bulls maybe on this Raptors group would the the Bulls be interested I know in the past Gary Trent Jr’s been linked and there’s some interesting guys in this Raptors group but who would you feel on this sort of list of guys as someone you’d like to see in return for Patrick Williams steal well I mean I definitely would like Gary Trent but I just think that now that we’ve made the giddy deal it just doesn’t make a whole bunch of sense at this point in time um I wish that you know there was a potential to get I believe it’s Bruce Brown I wish he could come over there but at this point in time guys I’m thinking that maybe perhaps we might want to look at a guy like a Kelly oen or somebody like that you know perhaps we can get a center over here here we need something up on the front line to get them over here to the Chicago Bulls and start to build in a way that is going to allow Josh gitty Kobe white dumu and these guys to be successful yeah some floor spacings obviously big for the Bulls and you guys have an interesting roster yourselves lots of players that are entering this sort of free agency we’re not sure what’s going to happen with Lonzo ball whether or not he’ll look decent if he returns to the Chicago Bulls or something happen along those lines obviously Raptor favorite to Mar Rosen he’s entering unrestricted free agent so you have a lot to directions the team could go with the Chicago Bulls you own a potential sign and trade deal I don’t know if that’s really the route MSU Jerry want to go I feel like he just want to make an offer to the Chicago Bulls Wing uh Patrick Williams and see if we can just steal him away because again Patrick Williams has put up some solid stats even if he’s been a bit disappointing I mean 10 points per game four rebounds 1.5 assists they’re not going to jump off the box score to you as a guy that you know has been overwhelming even under a block in a steal per night but you know shoots 42 % on Corner 3es which is Elite he’s only 22 years old overall 40% from behind the three-point line most of them are assist upon so more of a spot up shooter but in terms of things you’ll like about his game if the Raptors were to give him you know a type of deal in restricted free agency whether it’s a sign in trade whether it’s an actual contract what will we be getting in this Sky Patrick Williams if a deal were to go down well first and foremost I think that you guys are going to get him outright I I do I wouldn’t see Chicago going ahead and being a a trade partner um you know just kind of throwing some of the players out there that Toronto has I think that perhaps it would just be best for Chicago to just go ahead and cut ties is painful as that may seem but I would say this the type of player that you’re are going to get from Patrick Williams is you’re going to get a guy that can absolutely shoot the three-pointer and he is an absolute seat belt when he is locked in on the defensive end he will clamp down and strap up you it is going to be a scary lineup when you put this with Scotty Barnes and you put this with a guy like Emanuel quickly if you can continue to get the Ascension that you’re getting from RJ Barrett this becomes super scary for Toronto and the one thing that I will say about Toronto is you have luck on your side just about every Chicago Bull that has left has actually become pretty good that is going to be uh Bobby Portis that is going to be wend Carter Jr you’re looking at Chris Dunn Laurel marketing the list goes on and on even Dereck Jones Jr so I would say that luck would be on Toronto side if they were to go ahead and strike a deal with Patrick Williams that’s fair yeah a lot of people leave the Chicago Bulls in recent seasons and end up performing pretty well so that’s a very fair statement in regards to be made about Patrick Williams but Rico hurting in your sentiment you know in this video especially when we were talking before you seem comfortable with Patrick Williams going we took a look at the stats and his contract is pretty significant and Zack low came out earlier in the season and said that he’s hearing Patrick Williams wants a big big numbers on his next contract and like that starts with two and isn’t 20 so we’re talking mid 20s in regards for a Patrick Williams guy so that’s kind of the market value I’d expect whether again it’s with the Chicago Bulls or one of the teams mentioned whether it’s a Raptors Thunder any of these types of squads but why you why are you comfortable letting him go are you are you dropping someone on us a big contract guy for the Raptors obviously mentioned solid shooter right can play defense and stuff but where is he kind of where are we getting duped is this too good to be true if we make one of the signing sir well here’s my deal with Toronto I think it’s a better fit and I think to be fair to Patrick Williams we have not given him a situation where he is to be successful I’m not sure if Chicago is going to continue to build for him to be successful is it entertaining or would it be intriguing I should say is the right word to have Patrick Williams running around with Josh giddy do I think that he’s going to start to now fill the lanes get up you know dunks is he going to be able to get his three-point shot off of paint touches that Giddy and Kobe white are going to create it’s a possibility but I just think that there’s been so many injury riddled Seasons I think there’s so many lineups where he’s been shifted that he had to play the four and the five I just don’t trust the organization in his continued growth and you know just I’ve said this all along Patrick Williams was the Sixth Man of the Year in the ACC he never was the starter at Florida State University he always was coming off the bench so for me to trust and believe that he was going to come in and be an impactful starter that was hard for me to believe and I just think that this project is over and Chicago is better suited now because I say this all the time they are a reactive team they’re not proactive and you have a chance now to be proactive and get off a contract and not get locked into something that is not going to be good give Toronto this opportunity and let him run with Scotty Barnes I think that he’s in a better situation I think the Chicago Bulls can be better suited using that money elsewhere that’s fair there’s lots of options for the Bulls and the Raptors two teams in interesting spots now for the near future but we’ll see how it all shakes out personally I’d be excited to bring it a guy shortcomings or uh things all with it that can knock down threes that can play some defense and maybe get you know he’s only 22 years old two years younger than me which is crazy so it’s uh you know him coming in would be an exciting stuff but Rico appreciate having you on I’m sure there’s going to be uh different moves uh during the offseason different things happening so folks definitely check out bulls die if you
