arguably the biggest potential free agent on the market this summer he could be unrestricted and go to any team that has the cap space or can create a sign and trade with the Clippers the Sixers are among one of the teams that could be in play Wendy I want to tip this off with you should George want to play with Kawai and Harden or would you say embiid and Maxi okay so I it’s so perfect that we have Udonis Hasam on this show today to have this question question because Udonis Haslam had this exact maybe not for the money but Udonis Hasam in 2010 had bigger offers more money to go play at lesser teams away from home right I think it was Denver or Dallas I can’t remember what it was UD I don’t remember the money you don’t have to tell us the money you could have gone somewhere they wanted to make you a core member of their team they were offering I think it was like double but he is you know Mr Miami Mr three 5 as they call him down there he also saw there was a team that he felt with three guys that he wanted to be with were from his draft class come together he decided to stay in Miami give up a bunch of money he fact he gave up a bunch of money that’s the whole Udonis hasm story we’ll read your book later but what Paul George has this interesting thing here because what it looks like the Clippers are doing is they’re they’re basically calling his I don’t know if he’s actually bluffing but they’re essentially calling his bluff Paul George is can get more money and by the way I just want to I know I said this yesterday I’m gonna say it again don’t just look at the teams that have salary cap space don’t look at the magic or the Pistons or the 76ers Paul George hen I has an option in his contract he can for he can do an optin and trade he can tell the Clippers I’m opting into my contract trade me here and they’ll do it because they won’t want to lose him for nothing so don’t just pay attention to teams with cap space the question is would Paul George want to go someplace else where he might have a maybe a little bit bigger role um potentially definitely get potentially More Money More Years all of those things or does he want to stay in La where they’ve kind of drawn a line and said this is what we’re going to pay you it’s not just amount of money but it’s also amount of years we know this because that’s what they did with Kawhi Leonard it’s a tremendous situation and basically what the Clippers posture is at least today that we’re not at free agency open free agency yet but at least today they are believed that Paul’s going to want to stay home in La where his family is where he’s got Roots where he’s wanted to be and that’s what’s going to be the rubber meets the road we’re going to see which she’s going to go and by the way staying home in La for 3 years at 150 million is hardly a consolation prize but that is kind of where I think this is shaping up the Clippers are like here’s our offer this is where your home is stay here if you want more money then you got to go do it then that’s fine that’s what they’re doing right now hey Wendy man I appreciate that walk down memory lane I’m still out here trying to make that money up by the way but uh for me yeah I’m still trying to get that bread back boy you can’t make millions out here that easy boy you got to back up the Brinks truck so I’m trying to get that back but what I what I would say about Paul George is it come down to this do you want to win a championship that is the biggest thing that Paul George needs to ask himself right now at this stage of their career do you want to win a championship because if you want to win a championship you got to get out of that West if you want to win a championship your best opportunity to win a championship is to go over there and collab with maxi and MBI and put together you a big three we all know the East is a little bit weaker right now and you get a chance to go over there and try to take down them Boston Celtics now if you can take down them Boston Celtics and you get in there in the final then everything up for grabs but he’s got to look at his in the mirror and say hey do I want to win a championship or do I just want to get my money and stay home for me the difference between me and his situation is I had the luxury of yes passing up on money but I knew passing up on money will put me in a position to win the championship I don’t know if passing up on money and staying at home in La puts him in the best position to win yes I do know damn that it don’t yeah and that’s a hug I do know I do know it does not give him the best situation to win ship if he stays in LA but but you the difference between you and Paul George is that you had already won a championship you had a Championship under your belt you was being greedy to go and get more championships here’s the thing right no but but but but real talk here’s the thing this is the problem that I have with a lot of these guys in the NBA if you’re trying to win a championship at some point you got to feel you got to make yourself uncomfortable and if that means leaving your hometown that you could go and live in in the summertime to go do it Dam it get it done at the end of the day it’s about sacrificing and it’s your job and I feel like Philadelphia Joel embiid and tyres Maxi is the best place for Paul George to actually go and try to compete to win a title you look at the Eastern Conference the only team that I would put above Philly if Paul George was on there is the Boston Celtics other than that you give yourself a Fighting Chance being in a loading w a loaded West uncertain uh if kawh lyard is going to be available come postseason time I know he can’t control that because it’s part of the game for us having luck and being healthy okay do you trust James Harden right now I trust Tyrese Maxi more than I trust James Harden I’m just keeping it real at the end of the day you have a great head coach and Nick nurse who won a championship you go over there and then you visit home in the offse it’s the same thing with Damen Lillard I get it this was a different situation with him he left Portland he left his family behind he was missing his kids I get all that but you’re with Giannis you’re in Milwaukee you got an opportunity to win a championship it got to be a mind a mind shift and ability to get uncomfortable when it comes down to a lot of these guys in the NBA and for as wantan to go and compete and win the championship you got to be willing to get uncom perk perk preaching the mindset shifts how bad do you want it perk uh Wendy a oh oh
