[Pompey] The Clippers can offer Paul George a four-year, $221 million deal but haven’t been willing to offer more than the three years, $152.3 million they gave Kawhi Leonard. The problem is George wants a four-year deal.

He has until Saturday to opt into his $48.8 million contract for next season or become an unrestricted free agent. The Clippers can offer him a four-year, $221 million deal. However, they haven’t been willing to offer more than the three years, $152.3 million they gave Kawhi Leonard. The problem is George wants a four-year deal. The Sixers and other squads can offer four years and around $212 million.

This all feels like posturing to me. I imagine he’ll re-sign this week. There’s no situation out there that’s clearly better for him.

I would imagine he gets an opt-in and trade to the Knicks for Randle+stuff within the next few days with a promise from the Knicks to get a three year max extension in December.

    I don’t think he’s worth the $221 either.
He has a strong following, but not a superstar.
He hasn’t been a superstar since his indiana days.

  4. Clippers need to cut their losses and blow this up. They need to get value for their assets before it’s too late and before their players are valued less than what they already are. I don’t see the point of riding this team out into the sunset. It’s clearly not working.

I am tired. Just let him go.

I dont think we can go far even with everyone staying

This kawhi PG era has been a huge failure

  7. Party-Benefit-3995

PG is in retire state of mind. Podcast and staying healthy is his priority.

Which team could pay him max salary and compete for championship?

  9. Domainsetter

I wonder if they’d prefer the opt in and trade

I don’t want to pay 37 year old Paul George 60whatever million either

Both LA teams look like making a turn for the worst

The leverage PG has is this year, he can’t opt in and go to free agency next year for a longer deal because of the over-38 rule. It’s a game of chicken at this point, and either the Sixers decide to offer him a 4 year max, or he takes the Clippers offer.

Should probably just cut your losses and let him lean into podcast P. Guy doesn’t even want to win a championship anymore.

I hope the Clippers offer give PG the 4 years and run it back 4 more times 😏

Can’t they just offer him like 4 years $170M (still too high imo)? Would any other team even top that?

  16. Real-Human-1985

Honestly their picks are out of reach until 2030, they literally can do NOTHING until then. **Blowing it up now is pointless.** Both George and Leonard are still winning in the regular season, **they were 4th seed with a bad 7 game losing streak start to the season, both posted near 50/40/90 splits.**

Sign and trade is the best case scenario for the Clippers. Paul opts in and gets traded to his destination

I remember 90+ overall players in 2K MyGM when superstars play blink first and ended up with 1 year VetMin.

He had nothing to show for but a bad injury history.

  21. KareemPie81

Unless they can get something significant in a sign and trade. They can afford to let him walk.

  22. What’s the point of blowing it up when you have Kawhi? Ride it out and then you’re the nets before KD. It’s not that hard to get more picks anytime. That’s been proven so often I’m not sure why we’re discussing it.

  23. We aren’t gonna offer the 4 years even though we can and it’s gonna kill me because why not. If he says no he says no but just do it anyways and stop being pussies. If he says yes we have a legit chance to being the number 2 team in the East next year behind Boston and if someone gets hurt we can maybe even be number 1. I fear our FO is too scared to make a move even though this is our one chance before Franz, Suggs and Paolo gets paid.

  24. AtreusIsBack

Fine, we’ll take him for cash considerations. Don’t even mention it. Done deal.

  25. Repulsive_Pianist_60

After seeing those desperate and ill dunk attempts (that got blocked), i’m not too keen to offer him more than that either.

  26. metsjets86

At this point the arena is Balmers championship. Just give George what he wants and trade him in a year.

  27. Old_surviving_moron

I really hope PG and Klay get a reality check.

These exorbitant salaries are for super stars. Not for has beens.

    PG isn’t worth 48 a year.

  28. What’s the point when Paul’s only going to be healthy for half the contract?
