  1. Anything over 20m is an overpay imo. Just over payed cj, would be tough to do that again.

Hold on to role players even when teams are making offers for them in trades then when its time to extend them, fear an overpay. Clax is going to run Tsaiā€™s pockets and he has all the leverage to do it

Trade CJ for picks and one hot prospect with an expiring. Sign Claxton to CJs level deal.

Long time Nets beat writer Brian Lost šŸ¤£

Overpaying him is more catastrophic. Itā€™s their fault for not trading him at the deadline

Get paid Clax. Marks fumbled this one after a steal of a contract when he was a RFA

People thinking losing Clax for nothing is worse than ‘overpaying’ him.

Sometimes I’m really really grateful we aren’t in charge

Letting him go for nothing would be a bigger blunder. Clax is young and a good player. With the salary cap going up every year, it will be considered a bargain a few years from now when the Nets can trade him for more assets if things dont work out.

So we about to lose him if Detroit is going all in at 25 mil is what Iā€™m hearing.

So losing him for nothing when we couldā€™ve had him at 12-15 mil as a RFA which in hindsight wouldā€™ve been perfect in this cap environment.

    Complete blunder by the organization.

Why didnā€™t they just trade him then lol I donā€™t understand them

  11. A team doesnā€™t want to lose a player and doesnā€™t want to overpay? This is shocking.

    > The Brooklyn Nets know that losing Nic Claxton would be a catastropheā€¦

Translation: Nets know how important Claxton is, and will be re-signing him.

    > but they don’t want to overpay him.

Translation: Nets want to reset the luxury tax penalty (they are officially to do so with one more year under the penalty) and will ask Claxton to sign his deal to be cap friendly. Note: NOT a discount. ā€œCap Friendlyā€, meaning it will be structured in a way where year 1 wont be as expensive.

He is more important to team than Mikal ffs. You pay what you can to keep him.
