It's an insider story. tl;dr is Klay is not among the top 20 ranked free agents. Follows the pattern we've been seeing of A) no advanced models liking what Klay has been doing and (more importantly) B) no advanced models liking what Klay can contribute in is age 34+ seasons.
Criteria:
Let's take a look at this year's top players available by my multiyear SCHOENE player projections, which factor in performance over the past three seasons and the development of similar players at the same age as well as utilizing adjusted plus-minus data from Krishna Narsu to incorporate value not captured by the box score.

If your metric has Fultz, Harris and Hield over him, then you have to recheck it. Fultz is at best a MLE guy and more probably getting the TPMLE in the summer
No argument with top 10. Not sure how he’s not in the next 10, even at his age.
I know these guys are “free agents” but half this list are guaranteed to be resigned.
GPII that high is wild considering he was out due to injuries majority of the past two seasons.
ESPN also said we had an 8% chance of winning the finals in 2022
This is a perfect example of how and why kitchen sink metrics are pointless, at best.
A more egregious example, that should be attached to anything referencing the Luck Adjusted Real Plus/Minus metric as a warning label: it ranks Steph at 105.
Edit to include a few examples of the players it puts above Steph, because they’re so laughably idiotic that I just don’t know how someone could publish this metric’s results publicly and not have the immediate urge to crawl under a rock out of embarrassment.
53. Neemias Queta – he’s two spots behind KD, who holds the no. 51 spot
85. DeJon Jarreau – had to look this guy up because I’ve never heard the name before in my life; he’s currently on the Grizzlies roster as one of their hospital signings. He’s played 9 games in his career since making his 1 game debut for the Pacers in 21-22
86. Saben Lee
95. Ryan Rollins – yes, the kid we drafted then traded to the Wizards.
…
105. Stephen Curry
No shit lol
Hartenstein is significantly better than 19 imo
Disrespectful
Can’t wait until he extends. Then we can all be quiet. Until then, carry on I suppose.
