Rumors: The Wizards and the Kings Resume trade talks. Interest in Mitchell Robinson?

about that and more next on locked on Wizards you are locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s good everybody it’s your podcast Network your team every single day and tonight’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more as as the playoffs wind down or the ml finals are now over the sports uh stop sporting like we wanted them to do but this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for every every day all summer long so all you have to do is visit vu.com lockon to get started all right everybody we have a lot to talk about today um I hope everybody had a blessed and safe weekend man I know I did I enjoyed a a very hot weekend Outdoors man but um lot to lot to talk about tonight uh again um the Washington Wizards and the second the kings are expected to resume uh trade talks Senator round Ford Kyle kman and is there interest in Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks well well there might be and we’re going to look at Ryan Dunn could he be a Target at the 51st overall pick he very well could be so let’s tuck in as a British say let’s get right into it all right so this uh was a story came out over the weekend um where it says quote unquote the Wizards are expected to Res uh restart KY kma trade talks with the French playoff team the Sacramento Kings so as you know as you guys know there’s been a rich history uh between Kyle kman and the second brother the Kings uh the year uh the before the 2021 2022 NBA season when we sent uh Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers for uh Tres Harold Kyle kma kcp um and picks you know before that that trade went down it was a very it was a very slim margin man where we were able to make that move because Kino was on his way out from the Los Angeles Lakers to the sacrament Kings hidden from so to NorCal man so um and obviously the Wizards were able to swing in and trade Russell Westbrook to the Lakers and we know how that ended up but and we got a lot of pieces from the Lakers that ended up you know in in the case of Kyle kosma he’s been a fixture here for a couple years and in the case of kcp and Tre Harold uh they definitely were pieces that we eventually traded away for other pieces so um could there be a deal to go down between the sacrament Kings and the Kyle kma or not KY kma but the Washington Wizards absolutely and what would it take um what could we get from them let’s talk about it so looking at a uh a perspective trade between the Washington Wizards and the second the Kings what would be included in the deal now looking at the reports the kings were trying to include the 13th overall pick in this year’s NBA draft and either Harrison Barnes or Kevin hder yes that Kevin herder formerly of the University of maryin so what deal would I want and definitely comment below let me know what you guys are thinking but um obviously the 13th overall pick you know I’m I’m a firm believer that the washingt wizard should trade back into the lottery and sending Kyle kma to the Sacramento Kings for the 13th overall pick would definitely accomplish that like I said um so far we have the second overall pick and a 26 overall pick in the first round um but again I stand by in my opinion that we need to definitely trade back into the lottery because again for a player or for a team like the Wasington Wizards man you know this is a highly developmental draft where this is a perfect draft for the Wizards man you know there’s a lot of teams in the top 15 who are teams who are looking to add pieces for a playoff run and Sacrament kings are one of those teams so you know 13 overall pick would give us the opportunity to grab another um another high impact player in this draft in my opinion whether he’s a point guard and maybe an Isaiah klier maybe you looking at a replacement at the four long term maybe it’s uh T Johan Salon um maybe somebody drops in Ron Holland maybe he drops but there’s a lot of possibilities you know at 13 you know obviously second overall man that’s a great opportunity to add a topend talent in my opinion but uh 13 would definitely give us another opportunity to add a prospect that is going to be a key part of this um this rebuild in the immediate and in the future so um but playerwise you know who would be willing to take on now if you look at Harrison Barnes who has two years left on his deal and Kevin herder they’re long-term deals but the thing of the matter is um you’re not going to break the bank with either one of them in my opinion so let’s pull up their salaries real quick for the Sacramento Kings because like I said you know I get it if you look at Harrison Barnes I’m going pull it up real quick uh definitely would provide leadership all right so we’re looking at um this year coming up and looking at Kevin herder he would have two years left so he would be earning 16.8 million so he could definitely be a piece at 25 years old uh that we could definitely flip at the deadline now if you look at his age could he fit the the timeline nah because he’s only got two years left but he’s definitely a piece that I would definitely try to move at the trade down line and it at Harrison Barnes he’s making around1 18 million so you know to line up the salaries you know the salaries will definitely line up um as far as you know any potential deal with Kyle kumma and the two years so again they’re not going to be around by two years and you very well could definitely shop them at the deadline so I don’t think they would be here for two years that I think they’re definitely tradeable assets but which guy would I re which guy would I kind of lean towards that’d be Kevin HT I think that you know if you combine him with um with uh Cory kissper on the second un man we need another shooter and Kevin her fits that that mold it would kind of be a homecoming because again he went to college at the University of Maryland and College Park Maryland so it would be kind of a homecoming for him but we need another shooter so nothing against Harrison Barnes I think he could definitely come in and you know how much impact could he have you know in this stage of his career is is you know really unclear because um he’s in the end of his career so you know this you know him being included in any deal would the Wizards would be purely for matching contracts um so you know could you know veter Le absolutely because he’s been around the block in the NBA man he’s definitely has experience in leadership qualities man so but he would definitely not be a guy that you know would get significant minutes in my opinion but Kevin her is intriguing because we need another shooter we need you know we uh Cory kisper is a shooter but with the departure Kyle we definitely need another shooter and Kevin her fits that mold man so you know if I’m gonna that would be the guy that I would Target in a potential deal with the sacrament the Kings I would definitely try to get Kevin herder as opposed to Harrison Barnes along with the 13th overall pick but I will say this you know the Sacramento Kings have been kind of 50 fitt with a certain player Davon Mitchell and if you look at Davon Mitchell man this would be a contra gear for him but he’s a young player who can defend and we need a point guard for the future so you know he very well we could definitely assign you know if he plays if he has a good year we could definitely sign him too a rookie extension and I think that that would be you definitely have that conversation with the Kings now like I said they’ve been kind of hot and cold with Davon Mitchell there was a time when he was on the trade block and then with improved play especially in the second half of this previous season um they kind of you know like what they saw and then they’ve been hesitant to move him but I think you have that conversation um maybe you throw another player um if we indeed had to throw another player in there to get Davon Mitchell I think you make that move now would you make that move if it’s Cory kissper I don’t know I mean you if you if you’re getting Kevin herder you’re getting a shooter so you’re replacing that that long range shooting of Cory kissper and again you know kind of the same thing with contracts you know Cory kissper is on a in a contract year so you know we would you know the chances are they would have to sign him to the rookie extension so you would you know pretty much be trading Davon Mitchell for Cory kissper as far as rookie scale contracts so like I said you you gain a shooter in Kevin herder who’s at age 25 you know you’re gonna have him on contract for next two years it’s the time to a certain degree because again you know he’s still at age 25 and you still have that shooter so to me a potential move if I if I’m picking up if picking up the phone to call the Sacramento Kings my proposal would be I’m going send them Kyle with 4 to 13th overall pick and Kevin herder and I’m gon have a conversation about you know the possibly obtaining Davon Mitchell because again if we if we ended up picking up Davon Mitchell in in any potential move with the with the Sacramento Kings bro you have the point guard of the future because I’m very high on Dave MIT number one he can defend number two I think he just needs a chance to be a starter man I mean this the time timeline long term you know like I said if he has a good season you very well well I mean really if you make the move before the draft um I believe that um I’m I’ll have to get back to you on the deadline but I believe is in July and like I said I would definitely let you guys know about the deadlines for rookie skill extensions but I believe that the Wizards do have till the towards the end of July to sign Cory kisber or Davon Mitchell if we obtain him to a rookie scale extension so I think you made that move I think you definitely had that conversation now if they ask for an additional player Cory kisper could be that guy to be included in the deal for Dave and I think you make that move I like Cory kisper and like I said I you know he has a he has he has a lot to love you know between you know his you know he’s a sniper but he’s a guy who slashes to the basket drives to the basket you know now he’s developed you know a king sense to put the ball on the floor and and be a playmaker you know his basketball IQ is through the roof and like I said you know to pick up dve on miss you make that move but that’s the only reason I would give up Cory uh excuse me ah Cory kissper and potential deal right because I’m very high on Cory kisper and I I’m a firm believer that they should start talking to him on an extension in my opinion because I think that you should definitely you could you could definitely bring him back on a very very Team friendly deal in my opinion kind of in the mode of den Aya’s deal um so I think you definitely have that conversation but if they would if they are willing to include Davon Mitchell in a deal with Kevin herder and the 13th overall pick I think you you definitely definitely explore that move man because Davon Mitchell is a guy that longterm could be a point guard for us man like I said you know I’m I’m a big catalst of Jordan P getting an opportunity at least for the time being to beat a starting point guard but Davon Mitchell um what you know with him potentially coming to DC and a potential deal would that subject Jordan P the six-man role absolutely and in that sense um the at that point the Wizards would pretty much be advertising him for a trade you know I mean so it really depends on what the long-term Vision at starting point guard is for the Washington wi because if there’s still looking for that point guard you go get Davon Mitchell now if they see Jordan p as being that guy at point guard going forward then maybe they don’t make that move but again I think that even then the 13 overall pick and Kevin hter is a good is a good trade in my opinion I think it if it really both sides went you know Kyle kman gets to go to a contender in my opinion um he could be that piece to really help the kings make that push for the playoffs because again Western Conference man is a monster so you know Kevin um Kyle kman is proven that he can be that score you know I think he can definitely slide into the starting lineup man and then you know if you look at a at a you at the forward position between him and Kean Murray that is dangerous in Sacramento and you know on the flip side for the Wizards man we definitely win because we acquire you know the 13 overall pick so we can trade back so you know we successfully traded back into the lottery and then Kevin herd is a sniper you know so we definitely add another shooter who again you know you’re not break you know breaking a bank because you you’re all you’re pretty much doing is matching salaries and you get another shooter which I think that he can definitely take the place of land Shaman because I think L Shaman is pie on his way out now it’s not to say they can’t retain him but you know and and and that would be one hiccup too a potential move because you have already you already have a shooter in L Champions so if you’re gonna bring another win you already got one so comment below let me know what you guys are thinking do you think the wizard should definitely reach out to the king or they doing that but do you think that the potential move to the Sacramento Kings for kyman for the 13 overall pick and Kevin hert is a good move or would you rather have Harrison Barnes and do you think that the wizard should definitely Tred to pry Davon Mitchell away from the king so definely comment below let me know what you guys are thinking so uh we’re going to talk about are the you know the Wizards have shown interest in Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks should the Wizards make a make a move for Mitchell Robinson and where would he play um as far as minutes in the future for the Washington Wizards C Miss analysis opinions and news streaming 24/7 on YouTube or the free Amazon Fire TV channels app part of the locked on podcast Network you’re a team every single day all let’s get back into it everybody um and this was a report um that came out today that I actually um responded to on X AKA Twitter um and it says the Knicks and the Wizards have had recent dialogue around a potential trade involving Mitchell Robinson and this is per Ian Begley um who is a beat writer for the New York Knicks for SN why um so because they’re saying that New York is hopeful to resign Isaiah hartstein to alarm long term deal so the question for everybody is should the Wizards be interested in trading for Mitchell Robinson especially if it includes the pick that is protected um yes or no and I’m going to say no and I’m gonna pull up his statline real quick but I’m gonna say no because I think that if we add a center this year in um this offseason man it’s got to be through the draft I mean I I you know I think that there’s plenty of options in the draft to go get a center you know obviously you know right now there’s a lot of smoke surrounding alexar potentially falling to number two now could that be a lot of smoking Mirrors by Atlanta Hawks absolutely you know we very well couldn’t make another you know we very well could be drafted somebody else could be smoking mirrors you know trying to you know that that’s you know that’s stuff that happens with GMS and this time of year man with the draft and trades and free agencies that excuse me guys it’s hot out here but um you see you know that there’s gonna be a lot of smug mirror so is that smok Amir by Atlanta at the Atlanta Hawks you know maybe very well could be but you know look there’s been reports that alexar likes DC but let’s get back in the point man Mitchell Robinson um but even if you pick up um alexar at two you you know you there’s PL of options in the draft in my opinion k r is there Zack 80 um depending on you know if Alex SAR goes one maybe you go Donan kingan um so I’d rather get a center in the draft but let’s take a look at Mitch Robinson now he does have a lot of question marks as far as health man and you know like I’ve said time and time again you know availability is your best ability I mean if you look at um every year okay um 208 he came in the league 2018 draft so 201819 he played 66 games and started 19 uh 61 games next year only started seven uh 31 games only started 29 so you see the injuries started to take a hit now in 2021 to 2022 season he did play 72 games but started 62 of them so he was somewhat available I mean better than the previous year uh but then he kind of went down after that in 2022 to 20 uh 23 played 52 started 58 and then his previous season he played 31 and started 21 so injuries have been an issue for Mitchell Robinson uh looking at some other stats this previous season um 8.5 rebounds he did shoot 57% from the field three points are non-existent I going to talk about the percentage uh but looking at you know points per game you know obviously he’s more of a traditional big uh he averaged 5.6 points but again injuries definitely took a hit his best year scoring was 9.7 and that was 2019 and 2020 his sophomore campaign so he’s more of your traditional big he’s not a guy who’s gonna stretch the floor um he is a seven-footer so yeah I mean I do like Mitchell Robinson and I think that um could he provide leadership yeah I mean but he would definitely be a short-term piece man a guy that you know if he’s healthy maybe you flip him at the deadline but you know I’d rather get a center through the draft in my opinion you know I do like Mitch Robinson but his injury you know his injury issues are rid flag you know you again you know availability is your visibility you know if he’s G to be here he’s got to be on the court you know what I mean so you there’s no point of trading for a guy even if you try to get that protective pick back from the Knicks you know picking up a guy who’s has injury concerns man I you know is R flx me and I would not make that move I like Mitchell Robinson but that at this point man you know with Tristan vich you know with Marvin Bagley on an aspiring contract you know the likelihood is richan holes is going to you know he’s going to enact that player option you know and and it’s not guaranteed he will because if he doesn’t get quality minutes maybe he won’t especially look if we go get a center in a draft then maybe he looks at the riding on the wall and says look man maybe I can go get M elsewhere and maybe he doesn’t enact it so we go if definitely if we go out in the draft and get a center um and you pair him with Marvin Begley third and you already have Tristan vich then maybe homes kind of looks at it and say man you know I’m not I may not get the minutes that I think I deserve and may go elsewhere so it’s 50-50 right now but I think you definitely still go out there and get a center you know if you get alexar who again wants to play at the four so that doesn’t inhibit you from going to get another Center whether it’s a klew which is a guy that I really like whether it’s Zack Edy you know I think that if you get uh alexar you’re pretty much gonna be out of the running for Don M kinging so you know you know even if we get Alex R to I would not let that be a reason why I would not go out and get another Center in this draft in my opinion I think that still especially we get number 13 from the sacrament the Kings maybe you definitely explore kware because I think he definitely will be available at 13 and same thing with Zack Ed I think you definitely go get another Center and then at 26 you go get maybe another score in K uh kashan George you know list goes on um but you know I think you definitely go Center regardless if you go alexar at number two so yeah I’m I’m going say no to Mitch Robinson you guys comment below let me know what you’re thinking I’m going say no um I do like Mitch Robinson but you know and I’m not saying no because he’s more of a traditional big is that I think that we’re we’re set you know especially if we go get alexar in another Center you know we already got Marvin back in the Third on an aspiring deal and he could play the four too so you know he we’ll see if you trade uh Kyle kusman then Marvin Begley you know depending on certain matchups can be a tall lineup four so there’s a lot lot of possibilities but I think that the C position were good especially if we add a center or two in this draft and I don’t think we need to go out there and trade for Mitchell Robinson man and I think that look I think we all agree that we’re probably going to get that pick back because we’re not GNA be any threat the you know we’re not gonna be good enough to give that pick away I think that we’re definitely going to be a team that’s gonna be in the top 10 in the draft definitely for the next couple years man so um I’m G say no to Mitchell Robinson I think that again you definitely add a a center or two and I say A Center or two because again s can play center but he’s best fit at the four but you know you definitely try to get a center through the draft man at least one and I think that when you combine him with Marv Bley thir and trist vich I wouldn’t make that move for MIT Robins because again the injury history is a red flag and if you’re gonna be here you got to be on the court man you know so that’s my opinion about it again comment below let me know what you guys are thinking um so we’re gonna get into Ryan dun and he is definitely definitely a Target at 51 I’mma tell you why but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by fan dude so I love sports I love them so much I never want them to stop baby but as the playoffs wind down we get fewer games and the sports aren’t sportsing like they want to right but FanDuel lets me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets any time I’m in the mood and this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily every single day that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so headit over to fanduel.com lockon and start making the most out of your summer fandel the official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball all right everybody let’s get into uh Ryan Dunn and like I said at the 51st overall pick especially depending on what we do with number two and number 26 and hopefully number 13 uh depends on what direction we go in the second round because again the second round has importance now if you look at Tristan vich and what you know the fact that he not only is on the team and he’s in the United States and actually playing um we got good production out of him so you know it’s not like it used to be on Ernie GFI or even the Tommy Shepard years where your second round pick probably would never even make it to the States now under Will Dawkins Michael Winger and Travis schlank you know we see you know our second round pick playing so you know the 54 pick in my opinion you know does it carry the same importance as number two or number 26 no but it’s still very very important and Ryan Dunn is a guy that I would definitely definitely Target with the 51st overall pick so let’s look at his intangibles real quick uh excuse me y’all I I I am sweating it is 100 degrees out here in the shador valley Virginia man so um I got AC man but the room where I record man it gets hot so bear with me y’all if I’m wiping my forehead every five minutes if you guys are listening your boy is hurting but all right let’s get into Ryan D um out of the University of Virginia um shout out to the combo we Virginia baby all right so looking at this inang he 68 with a 71 wingspan at 28 pounds so I definitely definitely like that now looking at his stats um he averag 8.1 points a game .9 rebounds o but only 0.8 assists now you did have 2.3 blocks a game and 1.3 Stills per game great numbers he shots 54.8% for the field but he only shot 20% from three and he shot 53.2% from the charity strike aka the foul line so um what do I like and not like about the numbers well easy man I the points uh I mean we’ll see you know especially if he’s a three and D guy I’m not too concerned with the points because I think that um and we’ll get into it as far as his poal the score but I like the rebound number 6.9 I mean let’s go and round it up seven rebounds a game I mean a 6’8 I love that you know we definitely need another guy who can come in and be a rebounder for this team now um 2.3 blocks I love 1.3 Stills definitely love it’s telling me just based on stats that this is a guy who’s very active in the defensive end and we need more dogs and more Defenders on this team uh what do I what do I not like well easy 20% from three you know he three-point shot it you know he definitely need needs improve man because I mean obviously you like him around 35 to 36% uh 20% just ain’t cutting so you definitely want to see him better as three-point shot um and then 53% from foul line nah that ain’t gon that ain’t gonna hack it man I mean he definitely needs to improve that but let’s look at his strengths in his Pros right real quick I mean looking at the size man 68 with a seven foot wingspan yes sir that’s what I I definitely love his intangibles uh he’s an elite Defender he regarded as best in both the draft class and college basketball at defense so again if you’re able to grab this guy with the 51st overall pick in the second round you make that move because he’s an elite Defender and we need more Defenders on this team you know again he’s versatile especially on the defensive end he’s capable of guarding positions one through five man I’m trying to tell you guys man at 68 with his intangibles and his Elite defense if you add him at 51 this is has the capabilities to be a really good draft for the wizard man for a long term you know because again the defense is what I really really like what else do I like about him his motor man he hustles he dies for loose balls you know like Anthony Gil that guy that he does things that aren’t categorized in a stat sheet you know the hustle the trans you know he’s active in transition dying for loose balls I mean he contributes on the glass all reasons why I really like this kid and it really leads into the the the big point of another thing I really like about him rebounding solid rebounding for his position I mean you know and other factors his sharp cutting he’s a good cutter he’s a good finisher so all good reasons why why I I think that you make this move and he’s one of my favorites at 51 I think if he’s there at 51 you make that move and I think that you know you know will daers last year showed that he’s crafty with making these moves within in draft man I mean you I think you maneuver in the second round you get this kid and and and he’s my choice with 51 I I I’ve talked about uh a few prospects on this channel man at 51 but if it was up to me it’d be Ryan dun I think Ryan dun you know is definitely the guy you target F1 you you do whatever you can to acquire this guy because I think that with his Elite defense man with his intangibles with his versatility with with his drive with his with his motor I I look I’m really big on this kid man I you know and just because he had a universe of Virginia man you know but you know I really really look like Ryan Dunn but where every Pro there is a con where every strength there is a weakness so what are the weaknesses well you know I was going to say it earlier limited offensive skill set you know um you know lack you know he will lack contribution on Ball and struggles with shooting you know now he can drive but he definitely needs to get better with um with his finishing he’s a guy hit he can finish he can slash but he’s a guy that he’s definitely going to have to get better in that category and consistent shoot uh jump shooter man uh you know efficieny has been an issue especially with his three-point shot again and a three throw line again because I mean if you look at the stats um I kind of already mentioned it 20% from three and 53.2% from the foul line so those are two areas he’s definitely goingon to have to get better man um and he lacks instincts as a passer and a playmaker so he’s a guy who he’s going to have to be set up but I think that you know the defense alone is a big reason why you draft this kid I mean he’s versatile we need more Defenders man and you know I I think that you know and right now look at you know I’m looking at some draft notes I’m looking at him going around the 20 range anywhere from 20 right outside the lottery to the beginning of the first or the second round so um you know where where he falls it varies but he could slide a 51 and he could very well be a first round pick but I think that he’s one of those prospects where maybe you make a move man and and you got to grab him I like Ryan Ryan Dunn a lot and like I said if he’s there at 51 you make that move but I think he he he’s so good of a prospect in my opinion that you try to make a move and get him I mean because I think that his defense alone and especially his versatility on defense I really really like man so you guys definitely comment below let me know what you guys are thinking with all we we we we really went over a lot today K kman to the Sacramento Kings for number 133 and or um for Harrison barns or Kevin herder what 1. 🫡 I'm still hoping to send Kuz home to Michigan along with Kispert for their 5th pick.👍

  2. At #51, I would draft Ryan Dunn. But only at #51 as he, for now, cannot shoot a basketball. I like the idea of adding Kevin Huerter as well.

  3. I would love for them to trade for Mitchell and 13 for kuzma, draft clignan 2 and topic 13, if Mitchell works as pg great if not, it's still a short term deal

  4. Yess Ryan Dunn. He brings defensive presence and more rebounding. He can improve with his shot. He is from the 2 up and 2 down too like you said! Let’s go UVA!

  5. Kuz for +13+ and Huerter works. That means the Wiz can have 3 skilled 7 footers next year. Kelel Ware has the exact same stats as college Bosh. While Tyler Smith is a 6'10 lefty w/ guard skills who tailors his game to Bosh. As for Kispert for Off Night… ( respectfully) that trading pork chops for pigs feet. Get a pg next year with Harper and DinknPate. Let Poole prove his value.

  6. If I were the Wizards FO, I'd have to wait until Sacramento is on the clock to see who's on the board. That would determine if I'm picking up the phone & calling Sac about Kuz.
The trade idea I'd like is; Kuzma & #52 for Huerter, #13 & 2025 2nd Rd pick (Por). I would NOT include Kispert for Davion. I'd love the shooting with Huerter & Kispert!

  7. B, do you listen to other Locked On pods? (I listened to ATL, Hou, & Portland to gain how they're seeing this draft playout for their teams)

  8. Kevin Hueter Key…Davion is a solid back up PG..Mitchell would be starting Center if healthy..
13 pick Jared Mcain or Kalel Ware.
