all right so after what feels like a month of rumors JJ reck is officially the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers insane sentence but let’s talk about it so the first thing I want to say is like if anybody has a strong opinion on this one way or the other they’re just doing it for clicks no one know I mean JJ doesn’t even know how this is going to go because coaching in the NBA is one of the weirder and least predictable things in sports like two years ago Monty Williams was an NBA final head coach and last year he was the worst coach in the NBA and got fired after one year like I challenge anybody in the comments to name me one good head coach on a bad team I’ll wait now at the end of the day does this really change anything like this roster still isn’t good enough I don’t see the Lakers being anything better than yeah the seven seed again but at least they’re taking a swing because reic has the chance to be an analytics driven head coach who’s also player first that’s high upside

Mike Brown is a far better defensive coach than the Kings make him look. He just doesn't have the defensive personnel.

I don't think it says anything about Reddick. As you said can't have a strong opinion either way, about him as a coach but I think it looks bad on the Lakers. They clearly didn't get who they wanted in Dan Hurley, who outright rejected their offer and JJ was clearly the number two option (much like Ty Lue and Darvin Hamm last time). I thought you clearly wanna keep Bron so bring in his podcast friend to keep him around and then it was reported that Bron is going to reject his option. So, unless Bron rejected it to take less money to open up cap for a trade or something I'm not sure but it's very messy, something the Lakers don't need.
