[Brett Siegel] “Keep a very close eye on the Warriors regarding Paul George if Klay Thompson is to leave.”

Paul George’s situation with the Clippers is very interesting. Should the Clippers decide not to pay George what he wants, it may not be an Eastern Conference team that pursues George. Keep a very close eye on the Warriors regarding George if Klay Thompson is to leave.

Could be possible if PG does opt in on his deal and go for trade

Since they’re a second apron team is the no aggregating salaries in a trade for incoming players or outgoing players?

  2. Russ_Culture

post this in the warriors sub, it’s not happening, stay delusional

Zero shot he’s getting signed and traded to another team in the same state.

The Warriors are trying to figure out how to get younger and still keep Steph in contention. Where would PG fit?

Pretty sure you get hard capped if you’re above the first apron and you engage in a sign and trade. So that means Klay can’t be involved.

It would have to be Chris Paul, Kevon Looney, and Gary Payton II for Paul George or Chris Paul and Andrew Wiggins for Paul George plus two lower salary players, like Bones Hyland and Amir Coffey. Both make sense but I think the latter is more likely and Golden State includes a 2030 pick plus maybe more. Because I’d want Wiggins if I’m the Clippers. Honestly I kind of like it for both teams.

As for Klay, in this scenario I think he signs elsewhere. Probably San Antonio.

Wiggins and GP2 works salary wise, if Paul opts in and gets traded, as has been rumored. I’m sure Warriors would have to throw a couple FRPs to the Clippers to incentive them (since whatever they get needs to at least be better than the nothing they’d get if PG just walked in free agency). Also, this would hard cap the Warriors at the 2nd apron, but, if they’re cutting CP3 and not bringing back Klay, they can afford to be hard capped.

  7. Even if it happened; probably wouldn’t be enough for us imo.

Warriors fucked up by paying Draymond so much money… he shouldn’t be make #1 option money

Chris Paul is going heading to LA if clippers initiate a sign/trade . I still don’t think it’s right move for the warriors

  10. Been saying if PG opts in warriors and kings could be dark horse team due to being close to LA.

A warriors package could look like:

    CP3/GP3/Moody/TJD/Santos and picks for PG

Salaries are almost a perfect match. Warriors would duck the 1st apron (i think) by letting Klay walk and replacing him with PG.

    Warriors off-season is always entertaining.

  12. Huh? Why and how tf would the warriors pay PG what he wants if they haven’t wanted to pay Klay?

  13. SmokingShanks

Paul george is actually ass cakes. You aint winning with that waste of floor paul george. Id rather invest in the cyborg manifestation of klay thompson than watch pg and his stupid shoes

  14. vincedarling

Oh good because that’s what the Dubs need, another old player

  15. SlicedMango

They’re not contenders with PG if they lose Klay, CP and Wiggins

God I’m so excited to have Paul George go somewhere and that team bouncing in the first or second round.

The Pistons could be the team to dump any salary if a 3rd team is needed for these types of deals. Langdon said in his press conference they’d be open to doing that to acquire assets.

  18. Steph PG13 Wiggins Draymond TJD/Kuminga. Steph getting his fifth.

  19. MediumShotBob

This is the type of shit people would laugh at if it were the Lakers… so it deserves to be laughed at. For Kuminga and Paul? Sure. Shit like Paul + Moody or Podz? Or Paul + Wiggins? Just fuck right on off

I don’t think the Warriors could even complete a S&T for George if they still have Curry, Wiggins and Draymond on the team… they’d be capped at the first apron and those 4 players alone would have them almost there. Another problem here is that the Clippers are also well above the first apron… which means they’d have to take back less money in any trade. This just isn’t happening. I don’t know who Brett Siegel is but he clearly doesn’t have a great idea of how the new NBA cap works, and/or he just likes click bait.
