Not sure about hiring the guy who just got done fucking the entire Pistons rebuild up but I guess if they’re friends it’s okay

As a Piston fan who browses this sub, this move isn’t as horrible as it may seem. As long as Troy doesn’t have any control within the team, he should just provide an eye for talent within the draft, something he wasn’t horrible at within his tenure in Detroit.
But if shit starts to go wrong in the rebuild, just blame Weaver as the scapegoat.

Well that explains the Muscala + Gallinari for Bagley + Livers & two 2nds trade. He was just hooking up his future team with some more picks 😄

He’s clearly got an eye for talent, having him in the FO but NOT the primary decision maker is fine with me.

In all seriousness, this is still Dawkin and Winger’s team so it’s not that big of a deal. With that said….

Lots of former lousy GMs are still really good at talent evaluation, contract negotiations, cap dynamics etc. They got those top jobs for a reason in the first place. Adding experience and whatever it is that Weaver is actually good at without the pressure of doing everything is good business imo

i don’t get the hate. he found some decent players relative to the picks he had, and having absolutely 0 lottery luck. he just sucked at roster construction which is probably not what he will do here. long as he sticks to scouting all is well

Somewhat good eye for talent, don’t let him make trades though!!

Yeah, not terribly surprising given the OKC connection. And FWIW, I think it’s dope having someone who’s from here in the FO.

If there was anyone doubting that this team is designed to lose 60+ games, this is your confirmation.
Hopefully we clean house after we’ve tanked for a couple more years, we are absolutely full up on the most consistent losers of all time.

at the end of the day making this front office resemble as close as possible the sam presti OKC thunder is the goal, and this is probably helping go that way
