to have fun that’s it okay number one why is that only on Friday no no no we do listen we get loose all week right but Friday when it gets really weird then we go go hockey yeah when it gets really weird on Fridays and management calls you in you go well you know this is what we do on Fridays right and then they go oh sorry sorry you didn’t get thato all right we got tons going on Sly you’re doing like the full I mean you haven’t gone full Kyrie with the beard you look like you look like me right now like where you go it’s getting a little like it’s getting aggressive a little rough my way I like it my wife just took a picture and put it in the family group track she’s like Gray’s coming in thick oh no I’m just like bro can I why would you do that can I live yes the answer is yes and wait till like my kids I had my daughter the other day go because one of my my three-year-old was saying something and one of my sons goes you know dad used to be a baby too she goes but he was bald right and I was like oh man yes the answer is oh you’re a hairy baby what are you talking about oh yeah yeah when the hair starts going we were just talking about this I’m gonna go full land in Donovan one day and just I’m gonna shave the back of my neck and then you’ll know then you’ll know I’ve gone full nuclear option on the hair the nuclear option by the way for a normal human being is to just shave it off right right right I mean you could get hazed by your kids I could get down sleeping on the couch let’s get them I could get held down by all my kids and then at some point you know get it all shaved off and then maybe that’s their intervention they go hey you know what we’ve all been talking I know that we you thought that we came here so we could so we could have a sandwich together or like they’ be like but we need to have a hair a hair intervention this is getting out of control yes absolutely you know that’s what my mom did when she didn’t want to braid my hair anymore cuz I had braids when I was younger that’s a lot of work it’s a lot of work oh it is for her but she didn’t want to do it so what happened she cut the back of my braids and said oh whoops yeah oh right I I didn’t mean to I I guess we got to cut it all off now and so there we go I went went back to you know what’s you know what’s good is my boys do the thing where summer hits because I can’t suggest why don’t you just buzz it if I suggest buzzing it then I’m like a bad person but then when it’s the end of the school year and they’re like oh my friends are doing it we’re all going to get buzzed I’m like oh what shoot okay I guess you did got to do what you got to do with your friends cuz otherwise the rest of the time teenager hair right now Sly is stupid like it is just I don’t know I don’t want to do the full I only visualize teenage hair as the Dy like people who D like multiple dyed col no there’s that but there’s also like I don’t know I don’t have much room to talk I mean I grew up I was 15 16 years old in Seattle area you know so like I went full grunge I could eat my hair in high school it was stupid I was it was want to know what that down the middle I have my license still I have my driver’s license when I was 16 and I show my kids and they’re like we don’t know who you are and I’m like what Garage Band were you a part I know that was it and so now they mess their hair up they work on it to make it look like they crawled out of a dumpster the Emil that’s as much as I can come up with no it’s not even Emil it’s just like it’s just as like oh it’s it’s it’s uh oh it’s just I it’s disheveled but it’s aggressively disheveled and it’s like like uh yeah it looks so you don’t want to have the conception that I’m I could possibly be happy I’m just it’s like I know and then I’m like then they put a hat on it it’s coming out of the back down it’s coming out of the the the base of the Hat remember when remember when uh Happy Gore hired his a homeless guy to be his caddy those are my kids and it just happens to be they play golf so they look like that so they have like a yeah one day they will no that’s just me washing his draws in the in the pond oh didn’t we just celebrate uh yeah they’re GNA have Happy Gilmore too I don’t know how you can do it without chubs without his grandma who else is dead from that cast Bob Barker no longer with us well they’re gonna have Drew Carrey step into no they will not yeah they said they did well that’s a talk to pay St to honor to Homage to to Bob Barker although I will say Drew Carrey uh phenomenal ComEd not a great game show host right I haven’t watched it it’s not I like Drew Cary no as a comedian amazing that’s what I’m saying Haven seen they’re shorting his skills on uh the game I’ll watch rumored rumored to be Jake Fisher of Yahoo sports to scene he could be on the trading block see I will say this this happens every year and by the way rumors of people being traded when there are multiple guys by the way three or four months ago who are the people that are on the list of jazzmin who would not have been touched six months ago was definitely Lowry margin and Walker Kessler those were the two guys and it’s his rival team who’s the rival team of the Jazz oh I was going to say uh the Rockets no don’t you dare do that Denver the problem the problem is the problem is is when we’re guessing like this there is no there’s none there’s no rival Lakers right obviously on the used to be well no the Lakers I was going to say the jazz jazz fans will go obviously our biggest Rivals the Lakers Lakers all who right the Lakers are everybody’s biggest R yes okay uh so you don’t have an answer it’s just the the rumor is to a jazz Rival Well that’s fun because then we can guess well when he have the Bulls offering 25 options for in the NBA is okay how many has it gone up to with Zack LaVine 15 to be what was is that what they said NBC Chicago saying so NBC Chicago saying that they’re Sly that that Zack LaVine that there were 15 different trade attempts or at least like deals put together for Zack LaVine at some point nobody’s gonna take Zack LaVine because there are 15 attempts of trading him right or do teams wait till the very very end and just get it at the most cheap fire sale that they can uh rumors are crazy right now by the way and so many of them have to do with the jazz is that just because they have so many assets too is that just because they’re they’ve got a a uh shoot from the hip uh you know CEO and Danny a yeah I I think I think it’s a combination of all of that right the Jazz of course have been uh very public about them being active right so they are literally in every discussion and imagine the backlash if there was a discussion that they’re not a part of right uh that’s exactly right too what are you doing what do you mean you’re not in that and then right say we end up with nothing they can’t say like oh we didn’t try right but like in the Zack LaVine scenario I I think it could go a multitude of ways I think there’s just going to be a deal that comes across I don’t think it’s going to be at the last moment and they’re just like this makes sense this works Zach you good with this the Jazz don’t get better with Zack LaVine right I agree with that but he is but they’re also not attempting to get better is also what we’ve heard he’s a he’s an Allstar that that he’s a good Ball but here’s the thing this is team sports right it’s not the individ it’s not the individual I love how you said that with you started you couldn’t you couldn’t get through without laughing because you’re like it’s the NBA too they’re like oh this is a team sport but for I mean look at the champion look at the Boston Celtics right now of course they are not winning with Jason Tatum alone they are not winning with J Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown those two only yeah they can’t do got more you had to have drew holiday you had to have Derek White had to have shorty who could shoot have or or Chris STS when he was healthy right you got to have the full you got the full rer did somebody else could have done with them they did too U I think all of those guys they had major experience with all of those guys Al Horford all those guys and I think it was just a complete team that was experienced that would roll through the season and through the playoffs and they were they were dominant I think they were the most dominant team this year compared to other years and other Champions I don’t think they can hold up but this was their year it’s all about time and place and uh complete roster Bulls are actively tra in in active trade talks which I don’t know what that means like uh everybody you’re an active trade talk 365 and if you’re not you’re dumb right well I mean are you a real team you’re probably the Rockets are only team that’s not in like trade talks 365 so the Bulls are in active trade talks with the Jazz and Sixers surrounding Zack LaVine is there a version of the Jazz going forward that has a Zack LaVine and by the way Zack LaVine and uh and and Larry would have been on the same on the on the uh on the Bulls at the same time right well now he was brand new in the league before he went to the Sixers I mean before he went to the Cavs so do they want to play together I mean Alex Caruso just got dealt right and Josh giddy sorry I start I started chuckling before I even Josh giddy goes to the Bulls you start gidon and I start getting laughing my butt off about the fact that that Alex peruso ends up at the at the Thunder and Josh giddy is at the Bulls and the Bulls I mean I guess they they got to get rid of some salary that’s that’s why you make a move like that it’s not like Josh giddy’s playing well right now but Zack LaVine and Larry Markin and on the Jazz does that get you excited about it but the reality is is that most of these rumors also center around low Markin and possibly getting traded to another team for a multitude of picks I just saw I just saw who around the league has this pies you’re going to have to give up for L mark four to five first rounders they said I mean if Rudy Gober got all of that Donovan got that you got at least so they four first round pi and other assets four four to five first rounders and possibly another good player a star- level player now I don’t know what Star level means because that’s not the word Superstar is not used and when you say star- level player Zack LaVine a guy who’s a quote unquote Star level player I mean on the Bulls he’s their only star they have at this point right so I don’t know what this looks like when you hear stuff like this during and there’s multiple you go to KSL sports.com right now and you can actually uh see Chandler Holt did a full write up on this of all the different uh sources that are tweeting out different options now there is a possibility does this get you excited you ready for this because this was also tweeted out and it was a Poss Jazz starting five for next year okay Kean George Taylor Hendricks Zack LaVine Lowry marinan Walker Kessler that’s a pretty good that’s a pretty good little starting lineup do you look at that and go man what a playoff team could be a playoff team I’m not saying wow no because I’m just like because again Zack LaVine and Larry marinin have both been Allstars does that mean that they are All-Star caliber guys right now where is your strength and I think a lot the crazy thing was is Jeremy just played the Sounder as we came in because now there are rumors with Walker Kessler now R trade rumors don’t mean anything because every one of these guys could be on Walker Kestler could be out the trade block lry Mark could be out the trade block it doesn’t matter I don’t know what you’re getting in return and now What’s the storyline that’s being floated just in the last few days that you might need to start stomaching the idea that the Jazz are going to be bad for the next couple of years for at the very least that they would get worse next year by the way the Jazz finished last year 31 and 51 okay so 20 games below 500 and they have the 10th pick in the draft that’s not you go 20 games under 500 and then you end up at the 10th pick in the draft it’s not a phenomenal off season for you now you have a lot of picks that you can deal with great we’ve seen a lot of guys sitting around and standing around and and whether or not there’s going to be some moves made don’t know but the other thing is is there might not be very many good options if Zack LaVine is the is the name that’s out there that does not get me excited I just rattled off the best possible starting five considering the rumors that are floating around and what did you do like Yay like the oh I was like oh you’re done which where are the other guys you’re going to name off here is there somebody else going ask again what I’m saying is it’s hard not to compare yourself to the rest of the West too who are everybody’s hustling everybody’s kind of in this in this uh in this moment where free agency this year is going to be and they’ve got and they’re one or two pieces away the Jazz are not one or two pieces away it’s like when you’re playing Monopoly at the beginning of the game I did this the other night with my kids and I got a kid who at the very beginning is like you look like a cheater no no like my wife is like I’ll be the banker and I’m like okay no but like when you’re playing and then one of your kids just totally pulls the rip cord on everything and goes all right I’m going to give you every one of my properties just like give me a couple million dollars man like just give me some money this that’s that’s what I feel like’s going on I’ll go to jail do right when you have Lowry and and Walker who are in trade rumors and those guys weren’t even looked at as being touchable six or eight months ago M at some point Walker’s name started to be a little bit more tradable but then we’d said yeah but you don’t touch you don’t touch Larry marinin that’s your guy that’s your that’s your quote unquote Superstar even though you know he’s not a top 15 guy in the league and I don’t know what you call a superstar anymore either just an Allstar no that’s not good enough anymore right so when those guys names are getting floated out there something else is going on right behind the scenes and I think that you allow people to at least think that these are names that are out there because before they weren’t possibilities it’s all orchestrated right like Danny’s like hey somebody put this little article out here I just want to get some interest to let people know that it’s possible right if you want that’s exactly how work there guys right we talked about it there’s no possible way L’s getting traded Here Comes this article oh shoot Atlanta Hawks L’s available let’s talk Danny pick up the phone what’s up because if people didn’t know would they even try and what did Atlanta say over this past week what did their General major say this week oh we’re no we’re keeping the number one overall pick man it’s like you will do anything yeah if somebody comes up and shows up you’re not being smart by the way if you say I’m not willing to deal that for because no one can come to an agreement on who the slam dunk number one overall pick is in this draft this year so for the Hawks to go oh yeah we’re keeping it it’s like you will until you’re not anymore because you just gave up uh you know you just got a couple a couple pieces of uh of you know another pieces to the puzzle for you to be able to to give up that number one overall pick and a Year by the way that the number one overall pick is not even you know it’s nowhere near a a big Vic type territory so Zack LaVine by the way 19 and a half points five and a half rebounds four assists uh last year on here is splits 45 from the field 35 from three and 85 from uh the uh from the free throw strip those are all decent numbers 19 and a half points I think Ben Anderson came on our show yesterday right jar and said yeah that’s not I mean 19 and a half points is like not phenomenal at all and by the way the biggest part of all this is that the guy is not the guy is not he’s he’s been he’s been pretty inconsistent on the health side of things so I don’t know what that looks like you got to get rid of one of them you can’t keep Lonzo ball and Zack LaVine you have nobody playing the Bulls are all watch hold our non-alcoholic beverage we will too 2020 bulls and I want to see the stats because I want to see what those numbers were together by the way they were 25 games under they finished 11th in the East that year okay so the actual stats right so phenomenal moment in baseball and this was planned well before uh Willie May had actually passed away to honor the Negro Leagues Major League Baseball said we’re going to go to Rick Woodfield in Birmingham and I actually watched a video this week of all the players they did a list of all the players who’ve played at rickwood field in Birmingham and it was basically the entire Hall of Fame like it seemed like the names that they listed off including all you know Babe Ruth like all the way up to Reggie Jackson and and and and because in my mind Reggie Jackson you’re kind of going ah re because Reggie Jackson is still like looks really sharp looks like he maybe got done playing 10 years ago and he was one of these guys whose Major League career Bann well before I was born and in like while I was still alive like it was one of these guys that had a 20-some year career right baseball players did that right and that’s just his major league career Reggie Jackson played in The Negro Leagues in the 60s and when Major League Baseball sat down and fox was was on set there uh I want you to hear and this is and this is if you didn’t hear it on social media you’ve got to listen to it now Reggie Jackson was asked by Alex Rodriguez about his time playing at rickwood field and I think that I think everybody thought there was going to be a little bit more of a joyous answer a mix you know kind of the the good and the bad because it was a it was a strange time to be a a black baseball player in America because this is post Reggie Jackson and yet it was like fullon guys I mean in hour life in the in the lifetime of so many people this is not that long ago here’s what Reggie Jackson said his time playing in Birmingham was like in the South coming back here is not easy the racism that I played here when I played here the the difficulty of going through different places where we traveled fortunately I had a manager and I had players on the team that helped me get through it but I wouldn’t wish it on anybody people said to me today I spoke and they said you think you’re a better person you think you you you won when you played here and conquered I said you know I would never want it to do it want to do it again I walked into restaurants and they would point at me and said can’t eat here I would go to a hotel and they say that can’t stay here we went to Charlie Finley’s Country Club for a welcome home dinner and they pointed me out with the nword he can’t come in here Finley marched the whole team out finally they let me in there he said we’re going to go to the diner and eat hamburgers or go where we’re wanted fortunately I had a manager and Johnny mcnamer that if I couldn’t eat in a place nobody would eat we’d get food to travel if I couldn’t stay in a hotel they drive to the next hotel and find a place where I could stay Mr October it was tremendously powerful because I think that they when they asked them the question maybe I think people were anticipating the same type of thing it was like but you conquered this and it was just like oh it was hell yeah I mean even today and it’s so hard when you even look at like these high school players that are creating highlight tapes for college you know you’re just looking at the past you’re looking at Michael Jordan you’re looking at Larry Bird you’re looking at Magic Johnson Kareem all you’re seeing is the highlight you’re seeing the good stuff but if you actually talk to those guys that’s not even the stuff that sticks with them and in this case Reggie Jackson right he’s just like you guys are talking about this what this is what I remember about that time of the places that I couldn’t go in the places that I couldn’t eat the places that I couldn’t sleep the places I couldn’t walk that’s what my memory of being down here I love the game you know amazing MLB amazing Negro League player but the things that stuck with me from that time was that and you know what I loved about his statement um I’ve listen to it a couple times was he was talking about the people that was there for him it wasn’t necessarily all the black people wasn’t necessarily certain white people it was a lot of different people made it out right so it’s you can’t characterize everybody in or can’t put people all into this one category of being nasty people but there were people on his side from his Managers from his teammates that helped get through those who had to be willing by the way to actually be serious about oh we’re fine we’re going to go eat somewhere else yeah yeah we’ll go stay not a lot of people are would be willing to I can stay here but I’m not going to because you can’t we’re together and in fact we’re walking the whole team out yes and this is you know a lot of businesses too would stand on it and they’d go fine right yeah because there’s no such thing as Yelp there was no social media so they would just be like fine no one’s G who’s gonna who’s going to take business away from us maybe we don’t get that was the battle that was that was being waged every day by the way Birmingham Alabama you think about you think about a place where this is the 60s right and so we’re in we’re we’re smack dab in the middle of the uh of of race riots of civil rights movement that you know sometimes feels like we’re still in the middle of now right and and these guys were just trying to have a freaking career baseball aside they’re trying to have a they’re trying to like they’re trying to have a family trying to have a life right and by the way all of these baseball players were absolute Heroes and then and even to the people who would kick him out of restaurants which was crazy CU they be because they separated the idea of what a phenomenal baseball player but man don’t come in here what a weird freaking time and these are the kind of things that that I play for my kids so that they understand right that you help that you hope that they go all right this can’t ever be repeated again right but how many times we have to have these conversations and have to have this like Focus as a as a and sports are very good sports are so good for us to be able to go hey this is a this this is a luxury this is a l sports are a luxury yes and if you want to have that luxury you’ve got to figure out how to act as a society for us to be able to have nice things as we say right like because you can’t have those things when we can’t get it together as Society I mean I I I I love it and I love what sports brings to life right I I don’t know what the word I’m trying to look forward to say here is but I think Sports has been a great Catalyst a bridge um springboard to things that need to happen bringing people together right you know I I hear this statement and this is what I truly believe it was like look we’re all here on this Earth let’s live together that’s why like war and all this other all this other crap just bothers me because I just don’t get it I’m just like we’re all trying to be here let’s be here and I think Sports has done a tremendous job at you know putting things in the Forefront like we want this we want Muhammad Ali right we want Jackie Robinson we we we want LeBron James we want uh Magic and Larry Bird matchups right how do we do that we don’t treat each other different let’s let’s all be here we’re all Level Playing Field let’s make this happen and so um I love you know of course history and one thing that a lot of people would like to take away is what has happened in the past and I don’t agree with that I think one you’ve said it to me before we got to learn from that right that has happened and we can’t repeat it and so I think that’s what you know a lot of these things um have done and and and what we can all take from that I thought it was cool that so many guys showed up uh and said we got to be here one because of what Willie May stood for and that was the stadium that he played in and and uh you know to have his passing this week at 93 years old I was telling uh JJ this the other day the kids at my son’s baseball practice the coach had him catch balls over their shoulders in practice the other day and they’re like why are we doing this and they’re like well there’s this guy named Willie Mays and if there’s one piece of video that people see of wily ma it’s that it’s that basket catch over the shoulder and if you can teach your kids one thing about it it’s not just about that but it’s about all the things that uh Willie Mays had to go through Jackie Robinson had to go through and obviously when you have a a a you know a time like this where Major League Baseball shows up to uh rickwood B in in Birmingham rickwood field in Birmingham that’s a it’s a big deal you know it’s not the Field of Dreams field you know it’s like hey fun Kevin CER right uh this is this is a a legitimate piece of baseball history all right let’s take a break we’ll come back we got more to go we have our uh of the playoffs conversation um I think there’s a lot of different things that go in here right because I feel like when the Jazz tank they actually do better like when it’s clear that we’re trying to psychology they have to do that on themselves and they need you guys to lose all the games can’t do it we got to have eight people sit down in order for us to tank like Jordan you can’t play L you can’t play Johnny juing shows up and goes for 30 and then start winning games we’re trying to lose you idiots no um here’s my thing if basketball was like football where you got the worst record and you can get the number one overall pick I would say Okay KOA flag sweep Stakes are more real but this Lottery man Lottery is hard man it’s I I would not bet any type of thing on trying to get number one overall pick because I just remember how excited you know um some of these NBA guys get when they actually get that number one over like the New Orleans Pelicans when they were in the Zion sweep stes right and so like if if that number one number two overall pick was more substantially like I know I’m going to do that if I lose all these games I would say oh that’s that’s a viable option but here the slow and steady I’m not even great on that but I would take that more than uh the Cooper flab sweep sticks of the number one overall pick I love Cooper flag I think he’s going be great but I wouldn’t Bank on that I would just try to will in deal right now we got however many first round picks we have right now and assets I’d try to improve right now that way I’m on a tank because I told you I’ve already I’ve already gone full hockey for next season yeah come on no I like this just is not even this is not an organization that I think does that because it’s like you you kind of waste athletes years no well on top of that good years potentially think about it like leave that stuff for Washington for these organizations that I they just don’t they they aren’t good they’ve never been
