Detroit Pistons Trajan Langdon Press Conference Break Down

Detroit Pistons Trajan Langdon Press Conference Break Down

it’s uh Brandon D from wber Sports hello Mr Gores and everybody else in attendance and uh welcome Tran to you and your family as well I have one quick question for both of you all obviously there going to take some time in between when this Vision comes for fruition what is the message uh that you want to convey directly to fans supporters season ticket holders I think in digging into um the people of Detroit uh the fans of the city I know they are very proud um fan base uh and obviously haven’t seen and witnessed three World Championships there are expectations here and so I also know that they’ve been supportive in the downtimes of the Pistons as well in the Years where it’s gotten dark I’ve even heard last year during the losing streak they were still coming out and being supportive so one uh we appreciate all that support but know that we’re going to put a group of talented young men on the court that are compete every night and um that Detroit Pistons uniform on will mean something to those players it will mean something to this entire organization in terms of the expectation of the product that’s put out on the court every night we might not win every night but we’re going to start playing some winning basketball every night and um you know whoever we hire as a head coach is going to partner with with us with that same vision and uh we’re going to attack that every day uh in in playing winning basketball that’s what I know that’s what I’ve come from um that’s what I want to see here in Detroit for a long time hey what up though people welcome back to wake up Woodward up though that was the most inquisitive intro ever people right hey you know what Tre and Lon he has a way with words he everybody that I got to talk to about him after this press conference from other media members uh to platinum equity uh Executives as well as some other Scouts and things of that nature was that this is a very very very smart guy mm a very smart guy in the theme of this thing obviously everybody wanted to know a couple different things what is your free agency strategy whose voice is going to lead this front office uh people wanted to know what is uh you know what do you think of like Kade Cunningham and they really gave us a lot of the different answers including what is the timeline and they gave us a lot of the answers man it was pretty dope all right it was pretty dope hey I guess uh so I wanted to take on what sports live let’s go what was that right through the door walk back out he went to the kitchen find way out he stuck in the glass box of that brother is not having a good morning man shout out to that brother man out to by the way Ryan’s reaction on the chat he’s found his way out now through Birmingham Rose he’s he’s made it good I guess so good job let me give him a round of applause for that my man F his way out the door it was like people are probably like what are they talking about but this guy walked like didn’t acknowledge anything that was going on we got lights on we’re all talking kind of loud into a microphone and just like head down starts banging on these slid yeah we get a lot of that we get a lot of intruders into the studio oh that see it coming this is like out the back I was like what huh he didn’t care he was just trying to get in no F given koola Ryan’s reaction said in the chat the respect given to koola’s question is an acknowledgement of the quality of its question shout out to you hey thank you thank you I got a lot of preparation uh like I said I I try and make sure personally that I am uh giving all that I can but I also make sure to lean on my teammates as well so these guys they definitely help me shout out to flannel Sam and uh and that dude justtin as well uh kg JB broer you guys all helped as well before we get like into the good stuff and I’m promise you I’m not going to be a Debbie Downer um for all of this uh yeah we’re kind of talking before why the hell were they an hour and a half late yeah hour and 10 minutes late like I I picture Tran langon as this guy were’re driving there and he’s just he’s just burning up inside like like this is your first press conference three weeks after you’re hired right and and who was the guy from platinum equity who moderated Mark Barnhill Tom gz’s part respectfully they try to give us a traffic excuse even if it’s real like like just come out and say I’m sorry man that’s just it’s not a good look to start the new regime I don’t blame Tran langon although he’s his face is all over this he’s part of this I I don’t like that I I also wish like they had you I don’t know if they had you guys do this but um you had to ask like two or three questions like together and then send it back up to Tran or to Tom Gores um I don’t know I just wish it was structured a little different there was some really good stuff that come out but man not a good start I you want to make sure that things start on time um you want to make sure things start on time it it’s something where the Pistons as it relates to press conferences at least during my time covering them they’ve had some issues with punctuality uh but I can’t it’s not okay it’s not okay I I it’s not okay I’m not going to uh F find them too much but I wish that it was U something that you could depend on the schedule that they do put out I would say that much yeah yeah and and a little um maybe 20 25 minutes into the press conference Tran lingan was talking about some of the players on the team and and there were four or five like sentences straight where he’s talking about being on time like text to to every he gave a couple different examples I’m like I wonder if that’s a subtle little jab at at uh his new boss without actually jabbing at him like Hey the the we’re we’re about to be on time from this point forward right yeah I sensed it yeah you know what I like TR and Landon because the standard that he wants to set from a power position and that to me was one of the things that was continued to be echoed throughout this press conference is that this is what this kind of Detroit Pistons organization has missed for some time Tre and Lon being this unifying voice I know that you guys hey you know if you take a shot every time you heard this one word during the press conference thread thread Hey listen you guys you guys would have been done maybe 20 minutes into the press conference but this is what’s been needed he said a voice when you listen to everything that’s going on he said a leader somebody that can actually execute on the The Vision this to me is saying that as much as they like what Troy Weaver could bring to the table from a basketball standpoint as much as what they did appreciate of Monty Williams as a coach as much as what they probably appreciated out of the last reported front office structure where AR telum and Ed stansky were kind of sharing things they said that treaser langon is somebody built for this position yeah which is something that is encouraging I think that this is going to be the most traditional NBA front office experience that the Detroit Pistons organization has had since they had Joe Dumar yeah and that’s a long long time and and by that I also mean not that they haven’t had more traditional experiences after Joe D Mar but I mean when you also include the level of basketball Talent what it’s doing now is putting TR and langon in a position to make the best decisions based off of all all of the good basketball Minds that he does have around him so if AR tellum in his Camp have some suggestions you know what let Tran Lon be the one to decipher that yes if Dwayne Casey who uh shout out to Dwayne Casey got to see him as well uh down at the press conference all Heist a great man um if he has some suggestions let Tran Lon be the person who makes the decisions on those things that’s the sense that I got from this press conference is that not that these people are going to go away but that now you have the centralization of power and decision making and path forward that tran Lon is going to bring um as it relates to being a stabilizing Force for this thing and um I know we’re going to get into it as well but one of the things that people were interested in was the timeline so uh probably in the second segment maybe a little closer to the end of this segment we’ll definitely get into that video as well yeah yeah I really liked how with traan langon you only have so much answers like there’s only so much you really can say but he was very thoughtful he with his answers he was very professional he’s complimentary of the questions coming but you could also tell he he would take a second and actually think about it and want to give a real response as much as he could yeah and and there is a lot of not coach speak GM speak PBO speak like there’s PR speak PR speak yeah we’re all Rel we’re all invited there by Public Relation exactly exactly but you could tell he’s trying to say something real yeah oh no I wanted you to finish your point no that was kind all I was going to say about that okay but yeah so I mean with the press conference I came out of it feeling better than I did going in and this is by no way me saying that I’m blindly trust in this regime yet we still need to see it on the floor but I did like some of the things I heard from ownership and from Trent as well Tom gors took accountability he didn’t come in talking about all the stuff he was doing for the community and things of that nature he came in he kind of pseudo admitted hey the structure was kind of out of whack I I’ve been too detached from the team and things of that nature and we need a centralization of power like Koolaid said we need leadership he kept mentioning the word CEO a lot during this he felt like Tran was the CEO in order to help take this forward that maybe they didn’t have confidence in Troy to be that guy so and I like what I heard from Tran man he he addressed um getting more Shooters on the team he he addressed yes man he addressed being willing to explore the trade market in order to speed this process up but he also acknowledged the young talent that we do have on this team it wasn’t just complet dismissive of everything that we have so while I am hopeful we do still need to see it on the court but for introductory press conference I felt like this was pretty good on both sides yeah I mean listen like I I like we talked about on theuh interview Friday kind of just before this thing there was nothing that they were going to say that was going to make me walk away kind of having a feeling that I did after the try Weaver press conference it’s new times you kind of live and you learn try and get a little bit better as it relates to assessing these things and what expectations should be so as it relates to the press conference it’s like yes you want him to Ace the press conference and he did and he showed The Moxy he showed a little of of the you know kind of the the intellect that’s been advertised of Tran Lon he shows the leadership and if it truly is a centralization of power underneath trasan lers uh lon’s leadership then this is going to be a good thing moving forward at least as it relates to how they do the work you know as relates to what actually happens this is a situation now well you wait and you see you’re patient but do you trust I don’t know how much now anymore but you will be patient so you know JB I put another uh video in the slack I think it’s the second one there uh on what Drew him to the Pistons optimism one question for you as well Tran what are some of the things that attracted you to and ultimately led to accepting this job with the Detroit Pistons and what here currently makes you optimistic about the road ahead well thank you for the question um I’ll Attack the second one um I think in in speaking to Tom through the process I could really feel his passion um for the organization i’ done my homework to understand how much that he has given to the organization in terms of resources in terms of thoughtfulness in terms of um wanting this organization to be great um in in talking to him and spending time with him um you know I knew that if I could come in with his with his confidence in me um I think I and the people that I was going to bring in we’d have a chance to get this thing back going uh and the direction that it needed to be I can’t do this myself so Tom has been incredibly supportive and AR as well and me hiring the people that I have um it’s a tremendous group of people uh in every Department I brought in scouting Department department and the cap Department performance um and they’re we are all the ones that are going to elevate um this organization uh from where it is now and hopefully create sustainable success this isn’t about one run this is about being successful creating a system creating processes in this organization which is going to allow the Detroit Pistons organization to be successful for a long time uh and hopefully well past me and well past us being here you know what man I can tell you exactly who he sounds like I hope it turns out this way as well yeah who he sound like Brad Holmes oh I think he sounds a lot like Brad Holmes the intellect the attention to detail kind of this Persona that is going to be his way yeah I I I just I kind of get that from TR and Lon we we discussed is this going to be something that’s going to happen sooner rather than later is it going to happen kind of down the road he said there is no timeline this is just about getting this thing right and that’s what we wondered as a new regime coming in is he seeking to just kind of make sure he can establish his foundation and do it the right way and I have confidence in that no matter what any of the outside noise will be cuz fans and supporters if this thing is going to be extended Beyond two to three years they have a right to feel how they feel MH but trean Lon also has a right to his work and what that affords him to be able to do yeah no absolutely and I can get the comparison especially when he talked about how he wanted to build this thing structurally and he wants to have lasting winning basketball Hees doesn’t just want to be a flash in the pan but my question is to you how do you feel about the relationship between Tran and gors um at least from from you know day one or or this starting point because gor’s brought up a lot that they spent a lot of time together he even admitted that this is probably the most Hands-On he’s ever been with the team um ever during this whole 10 years so and they’ve had a lot of meetings they’ve been staying up to like 4:00 or 5 in the morning hugging apparently at the end of these things look weird but you know but they he’s showing that there is a clear line of communication between uh Tran and Tom gors being the owner how do you feel about that relationship uh starting off you know what there was a lot that I saw at the press conference and I want to compare that as well to previous ones like the the Monty Williams introductory press conference I want to get into that in the next segment I definitely perfect let me tell you about dispo dispens first we’ll get right back into this Pistons press conference essential Cal cenal what up do people welcome back to wer w we appreciate you guys for supporting the wo crew going ahead and satisfy that like button I need you guys to go on ahead and just treat it nice treat it real real say man once you hit that like button hey there we go hey me baby satisfied oh my God satisfy the like but and just talk to you my going to I’ve never seen something take off so fast on social media I no idea what you guys talking about Friday went home my entire timeline bu we got country songs we got AI songs it’s everywhere wild yeah wow thank you for hting man yeah just hot two on that like button on the like button hey really BR I do have film footage of the other girl from the video if you care to see the other girl the one the one that you liked actually now or in what’s your name well I mean I’ll just send it to you later I’ll to you later does your name starts an X Pistons baby yes sir let’s get back into this yeah and you had a question kg let’s reset that yeah so I was saying what did you feel the the relationship between Tran and Tom gors off the rip how are you feeling about that because like I said Tom Gores mentioned that this is the most Hands-On he’s ever been with the team uh during his tenure him and Tron have been having these real really really long meetings and they spoke of okay yeah we didn’t have a press conference but we chose to to work instead of have a press conference right away they wanted to start chipping away at this thing so what do what do you think about the the direct line of communication between Tran and Tom gors to this point look man their relationship felt as lovingly authentic as h two girls love for Pooky oh [ __ ] with py you the best yeah listen this is the Nuance of it all too going back to the Monty Williams press conference where you heard kind of that there was some discourse between Tom Gores and and and Troy Weaver over what they should do and others in the in the front office in terms of what they should do moving forward with this decision and then Monty Williams gets here and then a lot of the conversation from Tom goris was that okay cool these people were good in their individual roles but when it came to the business of it all they couldn’t quite speak the same language here is a situation though where you keep hearing Tom goris use the word CEO and he said look I don’t want to discredit what Tran ler brings to the table as a basketball mind because that’s great and that’s why that’s half of why he got this job but the other part of it is he understands the business of it all and his connections even to the people he’s going to bring in they understand the business and the basketball too so that everybody can speak the same language and what I saw out of their relationship was one where you could tell they understand each other yeah they were it was it was more light-hearted it was cool it was jokey it was like you didn’t feel any tension it was just a a good press conference there wasn’t any thread where you can kind of pull on and say you know what look and you see what I do there’s no thread you could pull on where you can say you know what that’s going to be a problem this was a situation where it’s like okay there’s no landmines everything you kind of want to hear at the press conference you kind of you kind of heard well it’s kind of easy to say that um you know being this is a new relationship at all um what do you say to people that that say that you I mean it’s that’s fair that’s fair because how this thing goes from here is going to be ultimately what colors the nature of the business relationship yeah so even though you can still say hey we respect you Troy Weaver the nature of the business relationship is that it didn’t he didn’t get it done no matter what was going on in that front office now you got tras and langon what’s going to color that is what happens from this point forward so you can have all of these wonderful skills but how you pull it all together how you properly delegate how you lead it how you execute your vision and timately how you win is going to be what colors their business relationship from this point forward two questions for you yes sir why do you need to interview 50 people for this job and question two why do you need to have your interview with tra Lang langon until 4:30 a.m. in the morning I believe that uh in the business World especially in that kind of platinum equity world where things are 24/7 time zones are are all over the place Rod beard kind of alluded to it as well I don’t know how much Tom gors was in the country so some of those meetings that had to take place had to happen in in times where he was probably awake as well in between maybe other business meetings when he was on the road when and when you do these types of interviews you open up a wide net from a through a search firm that’s going to go out there and find you your top 50 candidates and they start to break it down so all those interviews Tom gor might not have actually been involved with um but the search firm and the people who are authorized to go and handle that business they’re going to be really the ones that kind of handle that first layer and then as you get down to kind of more concentration of candidates that’s where Tom G is probably stepping in having those meeting I hear that and I like the choice that they settled on I I like Lon a lot especially after just hearing him talk even not hearing what came out of his mouth just how he presented himself how I think he can turn this around it just from a business aspect I don’t want to hijack the conversation so we’ll get back into it but from a business is all about the conversation from the business side there there aren’t 50 people qualified for the shot like if if you have the right people around you and from a basketball sense there should probably be Max 10 to 15 out there in the basketball world of people who can come in and turn and be a president of basketball operations or be a GM sure they 50 no no no I’m sure they had their short list but there is a still a process that they all go through and I just think on that other side so it worries me that it’s it’s platinum equity piston like and that’s kind of a I don’t know if it’s a meme going around but that’s a joke going around you know it’s the platinum equity Pistons there was a lot of references to platinum equity I get it and he’s been a successful businessman running a basketball team and and recreating a culture it’s a completely different ball game it’s a it’s it’s so different and he used the word grit and it was kind of cringey to me I was like man that’s a lot like we got to prove their gritty first before we start throwing grit around um but nonetheless from a business sense that part kind of threw me off dog that’s why trean is hired though that’s his job and the thing is it’s not that he did a bad job prior SVG was in the culture of basketball AR tellen was firmly within the culture of basketball but that’s why he he painstakingly continue to stress the point and I’m going to use that word that kg is Lov so much this morning the CEO this is a guy who understands exactly what he’s doing and how to get that Vision to come to fruition and CEOs ultimately have connections and they understand who’s going to be their managers how to properly delegate those types of things and so so I was comfortable with Tom Gores being really really kind of uh transparent yesterday and taking responsibility accountability he was accountable yeah because that’s what you want out your owner and now and that’s why I said this is why I want this to work because you got your most traditional front office you got kind of the concerns you have broer being taken care of or at least in this hiring that’s what the that’s what the purpose is to try and make sure that their front office is not heading any more in the direction of that what you were just describing and so I I do I like where headed here Tran’s voice is supposed to be the one that runs it so instead of it being platinum equity Pistons right now it’s going to be Tran lon’s Pistons just like back in the day we said Joe Dum Mar’s Pistons just like back in the way back we would say Trader Jack mcl’s Pistons now we finally have a front office in which it’s traing lon’s pistons and that’s the way it has to be I love that just to to follow up real quick a small Chuck Brewer in the chat sort of echoed or gave me a small rebuttal like you did too said this is the first time that I’ve ever heard Gore’s comment on the mess of the front offices so that’s movement just being open andar that is something to to look at I hear you it is and that’s what I’m saying so no you’re rightful in how you’re feeling and that’s why I said let’s have the conversation because I think that this needs to be a little less about breaking down everything that they stated and really answering the questions um that might not have gotten answered as clearly we’re all supporters here well it’s not like any of us are necessarily working within professional sports organizations but but we care about this thing to the point that we stress our brains and we spend our time trying to gather every aspect of information to be able to make sure we can properly present what we do every single day and so I do I value the questions and the concerns of you all as well as you guys chat family yeah and speaking of that uh shout out to the cola mullet in the chat he always uh shows love he or she I don’t know if you’re he or she but I love Woodward but what we we are being way way too optimistic about this Pistons team that shouldn’t get any free passes and we do agree this is like I said in no way blind support for the new regime we have to see it on the floor but yeah at least this introductory press conference was something that we took away and said okay Tom gors he was accountable Trent seems like he has a plan and he has a vision for how he wants to run this thing going forward and it doesn’t seem like he has any impediments that’s why I mention the the stream streamlined communication from him to Tom gors it doesn’t seem like AR tell him is going to be completely have his hands in in whatever they’re trying to build going and who actually reported that first shout out you know we told you guys V our sources that this is a situation now in which and V our sources at the at the actually via the uh the Michigan Chronicle let me put it that way um that this was a situation where trasan Lon to Tom Gores was not how the communication went where it used to be trasan Lon AR tell him and then everybody else now this is a situation where it is Tom gor and treas and langon then everybody else yeah that’s the way we want this thing that’s the way that it was presented effectively at the press conference yeah so um another question I wanted to ask you if we got time so he said there was no timetable uh to find a head coach you know they’re going to take their time and try to get the right guy for the job which I’m not necessarily opposed to I can’t really remember a time where there was a head coach um or wasn’t a head coach going into the NBA draft but did you get any indication as to maybe the type of Coach they want to find uh Gathering anything from this press conference well I mean it was it’s really the coaching candidates that we discussed on this show as well who wouldn’t want the best but the issue is that these people do they want the Detroit Pistons do they see in the Detroit Pistons what treas Landon sees in the Detroit Pistons so and if you don’t have that then it’s going to take some time and I saw a report that came out as well um that stated that this thing could stretch uh in after the draft kind of after free agency as well because you want to make sure that you get this coaching hire exactly correct and that this individual knows that they’re coming in follow your vision since they’re not a part of the foundation building that’s going on right now at the start of the tras lon era you don’t think that’s a problem I I don’t I don’t I I believe that treer Landon R is going to have like a short list of coaches that he knows will be a secondary but you have to wait for these kind of first line of coaches that you want your top tiers you have to wait for those guys to basically fall through first and then you go to that list of other people that you know you know what okay it’s a good time now for us to try and find our a exposure it’s a good time now for us to find our Brad Stevens those guys that we know they’re showing extreme promise um since we couldn’t get any of these Topline guys let’s go and get this person here who understands how to talk our language who understands how to utilize the strategies that we do who understands how to take what we’re echoing from here and make this thing happen on the court that’s what you’re looking for in this coach you’re no longer looking for realistically just the kind of best coach as it relates to like like what Monty Williams represented you’re not looking for really like a manager when you think about baseball you’re not looking for a guy that’s going to come here instantly and are just kind of taking this team from Z to 100 because you got a bunch of young guys you have a lot of moving parts and pieces you need a coach that can make sure that development is happening not just with your young guys but with even the players you bring here who are supposed to run your system you can’t have a system that people know of before you get here but then when you’re here nobody from the Vets to the young guys are doing your system so you got individual Player Development you got team development you got management of the assets and of the players you got management between the big league and the g-league team yeah you like you got other NBA teams signing our g-league talent away and they’re playing regular rotation minutes I I just I don’t quite understand it I that’s that’s weird to me so you identified the talent which is something that we know they said Troy Weaver was really good at but then for some reason the coach was not bringing those that Talent up to the big leagues until late in the season when after ourg Le got kind of picked clean yeah you know for better or worse it sucks that he got you know banned from the NBA but even John Porter was hooping when the Raptors said hey we got you he was hooping funny you said to the big leagues the lack of development making it to the big leagues um but it’s true they they have identified talent and it hasn’t developed I need a coach who can coach defense in effort like why have such a hard time with Team struggling in the NBA these days is because effort alone should win you a couple games in today’s NBA where especially as the Pistons a lot of stars rested against the Pistons like the effort is in there with everybody with every team I don’t want to just blanket it across the NBA um you got a young athletic team you should be able to win some games just just because of that so we need a coach who can play some defense what else what what are some other takeaways or other questions that you asked I know you had a couple Clips um let’s ride this out till 9 o’ yeah I do I do have a couple more Clips do you have that timeline one yeah yeah I got let’s play that one cuz that was one of the more interesting ones we wanted to talk about as well so let’s get into that one good afternoon um welcome to Detroit Trent um good afternoon Mr gor um my name is Cory Woods Pon be writer for M live first for you Trent coming from an organization that has coming from organization been to playoffs for the past couple of years when you look at the Pistons how far away do you think they are you from turning franchise around like what’s the first step and for Mr gor we’ve seen your dedication and heard your dedication to turning the franchise around how confident are you this time around that the organization will be closer towards reaching that success that you’ve been chasing Cory nice to meet you um really good question I think uh for us is is uh I don’t think there’s a time frame of when we want to get back to the playoffs I think for us is creating a foundation uh for our young players uh a foundation of winning which means creating an environment of winning and you have to do that first before you can actually win between the lines you got to practice and compete at a certain level um with a f a certain fiber of human beings in this in this um facility every day and that means not only the players it means the coaching staff it means front office it means performance staff we all have to help out in in the development of our young players so I think creating that Foundation is Paramount that we do that first and then we just we can’t skip steps in terms of the development of this team in terms of creating an environment again a winning environment which means holding these guys accountable every day to winning plays to the smallest things of being on time and and not only being on time on the court but being on time on a rotation being on time on a blockout texting somebody back in time returning their call in time that all those things impact a winning environment which impacts a winning team um so for us is again it’s that Foundation that has to be set then it’s bringing in the right people right and at the end of the day we have to have enough talent to win at a high enough level um and and we do have young Talent here right so it’s creating an atmosphere of how do we reach how do we have that young Talent reach their potential and I think if the young talent that we have here reaches their potential we have a chance to be pretty special but again we’re not going to skip steps I can’t give you a timeline when we get there we’ll get there man look there was a lot to unpack this shout out to the Detroit Pistons organization as well and pistons PR uh for all that video as well they streamed it live to their um to the YouTube account to the Delight of all the fans out there and shout out to you all as well and my family was tapped in and they uh they said that there was a lot of support in there so I appreciate you all there was Dante 151 also points out thank you for the Super Chat man um he said the chat in the Pistons live stream was nuts at one point they were chaining Jared GF they were they were waiting for it to start Y no that happens so you don’t I I see people in the chat debating about it already do you think the fact that they don’t have a timeline in order to get back to postseason play do you think that’s a problem I I actually don’t think that’s a problem this what we um it’s interesting when we drum up what we believe the question should be and then these are the things that he’s talking about as well shout out to the rest of the media as well who was understanding hey look these are the concerns right now people want to see the scene get back to winning but sometimes you can’t one key phrase that he said in there skip steps yeah I do believe that there might have been some abil some some desire to skip some steps as it relates to what the Detroit Pistons have done over the last couple regimes right now they’re talking about and and this is one of the things that I was wondering is he looking to come in here and establish his way first right because we all know there are ways you can go out there right now and find a way to spin this cap space get some midling players in here and make the playoffs we’ve seen him do that twice in the last eight years once underneath SVG once underneath Dwayne Casey yeah but is that the what he also talked about is that sustainable is that bringing you your longevity because they want to be a winning Organization for a long time like a program he said well after he in the rest of the people he’s brought in are here and so you got to start with the attention to details and he also gave us one other clue as well as it relates to what strategy are they using moving forward are your young players players you’re looking to develop and have be the foundation or your young players who you’re using to try and accelerate the rebuild yeah understanding though if you’re going to pick the side of the young players to kind of answer your question you’re the timeline is not something that’s going to be as rigid it’s going to be one that’s going to take a little bit of time because now you’re saying this is the base of our team I don’t know if that’s what they’re going to necessarily stick to because they also talked about their free agents strategy being one in which they’re going to utilize um all the cast space they have to effectively play the disgruntled Market yeah looking for those teams as well that are up against the apron or over the apron uh up against the the the luxury ta taxes and such these are the things they’re going to do and they’re going to try and make sure that they can acquire somebody uh that can help this team on the court and off the court not just kind of vets like a Todd’s Gibson type who listen for everything good he brought to the table you still want one of those vets that can actually run up and down and give you some really meaningful minutes as well happy birthday Tod Gibson too by the way happy birthday Taj Gibson what you turn 48 uh 40 I believe ah 408 40 hey man there’s some I’m actually more support for the lack of timeline in the chat um than expected Charles mlan not having a timeline is good if you have a timeline and don’t get there and the fans and media would question this regime so I agree with no timeline build a culture then show Improvement Ryan’s reaction says putting a playoff timeline on the Pistons already is like asking when youall getting married on the first date that kind of think there you you get more of that framework and I like TR Lon because instead of just kind of putting on an answer he’s much more measured and calculated with how he responds how much of a timeline can you put on this when you’re not beyond your first draft in free agency yet you’re not even into your first training camp in season yet I think when you kind of get through those things and and and you know kind of drawn out any summer league hype drawn out any preseason hype drawn out any training camp noise and really look at like we said to do with these Tigers you want to wait maybe 30 games and then reassess after 60 games this is something with the Detroit Pistons where you want to see who they are after 20 games yeah you want to see who they are once teams start to kind of catch up to their speed if they’ve uh kind of shown a little bit more you want to see who they are after that and and the other thing that that clip kind of pointed out to me and there was some other comments that he had along the way is that I believe he thinks that this young Talent once he got to kind of sit down and look at it has been kind of underutilized and mismanaged and not really put in his best position to succeed that to me was something that I got from a lot of his comments just reading between the lines and it really excites me about what this young kind of squad can be um no matter what the timeline is if you’re going to do this thing the right way so it it really the development of whether this this team goes just one final thought it’s just it’s going to depend on what these this young team does as they develop this summer and Beyond yeah Co talk to me about Kate Cunningham this one thing I I I love Trac just hitting it dead on like we need to build around Kate he’s one of the brightest young stars in the league he’s a player that he thinks can be the best player on the court in in most NBA games tell me about what you took from some of his responses or from that whole conv I’m glad that you brought that up because when we talk about K cyam on this show we’ve kind of carried the Cade Zone shout out to Rod beard via the Woodward Pistons platform for a better part of a couple years now since he’s been drafted at our draft party man shout out to stick and easy and and others who were there in the building that night you know K Cunningham was all the Rave and then all of a sudden you start to see what he does in the court but you want to see a little bit more because of some of the injury and the team is not winning but what are you hearing from everybody else across the league it’s amazing that Tre and L said you know what I I didn’t spend too much time in one of his responses looking at the Detroit Pistons like last year but he definitely had answers as was related to who K Cunningham was MH that’s what you get from a lot of head coaches around the NBA assistant coaches around the NBA and players around the NBA stars around the NBA about K Cunningham he does believe that K Cunningham is a connector he does believe K cam is the type of player that you can and should build around k k is a player that he’s interested in making sure is a centerpiece or a focal piece of what the Detroit Pistons do moving forward and it’s awesome about that is that that means that you can bring in players who might score better or might facilitate better than the K Cunningham because you know that K Cunningham is a type of player who wants to put on for his team he wants to playmake he wants to put his teammates in their best position to succeed uh and that’s what I’ve that’s what I I kind of like about building around a guy like K Cunningham is it doesn’t block you from bringing in somebody else whereas when you talk about jayen durren assar Thompson jayen Ivy you got to really talk about yo if we bring in someone that can take this team one or two steps forward one or two players is that going to block an ivy is that going to block a Duran is that going to block an assar with Kade and his versatility and his ability to really share the spotlight with anybody who wants to just win it’s easy to build around a guy like that and then you bring up the fact and he discussed this a little bit as well the guy’s putting up some good stats he’s proving that he is upper estelon in his NBA he’s making it people’s top 100 some people’s top 50 NBA player list you look at his stats as relates to scoring as relates to assists he’s one of those guys that’s top 10 in assist top 30 in scoring in the NBA already potential assists top one playmaking and creation top five this is who he’s proven himself to be he’s the guy that you want to be able to build around just like and hopefully it turns out like this the last two Pistons uh regimes that won US championships they had some guards at the center of this thing that exuded some of the same qualities but they were able to execute they were able to take their games to the levels and chy bips and Isaiah Thomas now it is on K Cunningham along with this restructured front office to get there big facts big facts big facts cool man yes sir great coverage we’re going to continue to talk about Pistons all week we’ll probably have some more Clips conversations about the press conference we got number Prospect number two coming in hot tomorrow uh at Prospect number two for the Pistons to think about at number five if he’s there sir uh and then the draft is Wednesday and Thursday got the NHL draft on Thursday the 28th and Friday the 29th it’s a big week it’s a big week so we’re going to continue this Pistons convers got a one segment on the Tigers coming up cuz they had a polarizing weekend we’re going to talk about them and then get back into some press conference talk with Mr Steve Eiserman talking about their offseason plans around 9:15 920 cool can you tell us about all the shows coming up on the network I can’t hey thank you guys for kicking off the day with the wake up with recruit we appreciate you guys doing that every day Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and I’m hoping after you support the Wu just [Music]
