@Toronto Raptors

Wow…

Wow…

we have a massive update regarding Scotty Barnes as he just received the largest contract in Toronto Raptor history Messi Jerry was able to come to terms with the Raptors Allstar in a contract extension that will keep him on the team for the foreseeable future so we’ll break down how this impacts the rest of this year’s free agency the future of this Toronto Raptors team and giveing congrats to Scotty Barnes the Raptor’s new official face of this team now Scotty Barnes is obviously the the guy the Toronto Raptors handed the Reigns to ahead of this year’s NBA trade deadline dealing away OG and anobi and Pascal cakam and it was expected it was almost a guarantee that Adrian Mor Janowski would drop a bomb like this and reveal that the Toronto Raptors ended up resigning Scotty Barnes or extending his contract on a serious serious deal so WJ came out and said that the Raptors Allstar guard Scotty Barnes intends to sign a 5-year maximum rookie extension that could be worth up to 2 $270 million Barnes is the franchise Cornerstone and will become the highest paid player in Toronto Raptors history so again Scotty Burns is a guy that this season be the fact that he is the top dog the top player on this team I mean his stats kind of show it if we uh dive into them here 20 points per game eight rebounds six assists you 1.5 blocks per night 1.3 steals was efficient out there on the court the three-point percentage went up to 34% % last season was around 30 uh was around 40% for a large chunk of the first half of the Season dwindle off after the focus of the defense was really locked in on him and stuff you know made 36% of his Corner threes still only 22 years old putting up these types of stats was an All-Star player and just brings that sort of winning mentality the way he attacks the rim facilitates makes the right decisions is a guy that isn’t there yet but has that star dare I say Superstar potential for the Toronto Raptor so to dive into more details in terms of what this deal is going on Barnes agent Bill Duffy met with Toronto Executives MSI Jerry and Bobby Webster to land the deal of the 2022 Rookie of the Year sources tell ESPN the Raptors are reshaping their roster around Scotty Barns and now we’ll secure him on a deal he’ll sign on July 6th sources say so essentially the deal is agreed upon it’s something that uh you know it’s pretty well it is locked and it wouldn’t be coming from W if it was going to fall apart or anything like that but but Scotty Barnes is getting that Max Ascension and it’s something that we expected now Scotty is obviously a piece that we knew would be uh given that big contract would new he earned it you know that’s the level play he was producing at and if we dive into more details in terms of what this contract will look like basically the breakdown for this for Scotty Burns now is essentially Scotty Burns Max extension will make him the highest played player in Raptor’s history so per season annually Scotty Burns in 2025 2026 so he’s still in his rookie scale deal now this year will’ll make 38 then 41 then 44 then $48 million and then $51 million in the 2029 2030 season now there are some people that you know still bash on Scotty Barn still call him a glorified role player all these types of things I hear all the chatter I hear all the smoke this is what you had to pay Scotty Barnes if he was going to stay with your organization I get the Toronto Raptors they have some money they have uh some money tied into people and you know the talk was flexibility and these types of things this is how we looked prior to the Scotty Barnes extension RJ Barrett is locked into you know 2025 2729 million over the next few seasons right yakob purle has some serious spread there right Emanuel quickley is up for a contract extension now this off season as well you know being a restrictive free agent so you know some money tied up in Kelly o Lin what do this mean for the future of this team well there is less flexibility there is less things going forward we knew this money was going to go to Scotty Barn so this was all probably planned for definitely planned for by Messiah eeran stuff and is the reason why the Toronto Raptors dealt away Pascal cakam who received himself you know 42 45 49 and 52 a very similar contract structure to what Scotty Barnes is receiving so the trono Raptors made the decision hey we don’t think this team is going to be able to compete we don’t think this team is going to be able to be built as is right now to compete for a championship and with all this money tied up you know we have to decide hey do we give Scotty Barnes this massive contract extension or do we give it to Pascal cakam and given the deals that both of those guys end up coming to I mean if in 2027 both guys are making roughly $50 million you’d have to be sure you’d have to be guaranteed that though both of those players you know could be a 1A or 1B on a championship winning team that’s just the reality that’s the decision messai Jerry had to make and even though cakam stats were solid I mean looking at him 22 points per game seven rebounds four assist you know one one steel a night cakam is an absolute monster he was 30 years old so a lot older than uh than Scotty Barnes and even though he was the one option you know the key piece on that roster right it’s uh it makes sense to go with the guy that is putting up similar stats you know a little bit less than obviously Scotty Barnes is the better facilitator better playmaker at that forward position but is only 22 years old going to be 23 start starting into next season has that sort of Superstar upside star poti especially with the jump shot and the playmaking is really the aspect on Scotty Barn’s game which is extremely encouraging for his future and stuff now I see still some people in the comments roasting the debate roasting the back and forth saying oh he’s a glorified role player he’s a Draymond gin he is what is Scotty Burns even if you’re in that hater Camp which I am not in Scotty Burns contract will be you know if he Flames out if he has a horrible season next year it’s going to be something that’s tradeable people will love you know the defensive versatility the ability to playmake the potentially improving jump shot that are coming from him day by day this is the market value for a guy like Scotty barns in the modern NBA it’s just how it kind of goes and even though that number does look big and scary you know in terms of Scotty Barnes making $51 million in 20129 2030 the contracts they keep going up season after season so again even though it’s a bit bigger than I feel like a lot of raptors fans may have looked at like oh really is that how much he’s going to make well that’s just the going market rate and these numbers could be higher they could be uh substantially higher again because if he doesn’t make an all NBA team then it’s uh two $224 million for this extension those numbers will increase they will go up to $270 million you annually imagine it would go yearly not just one giant bonus if he does make an allba team so that could be a lot more money than even we’re seeing on this projected list in terms of Scotty Barn’s salary you know moving forward and I do project him to make some lnba teams be one of those upper players in the entire NBA so don’t be surprised if that contract looks even bigger but it will be worth it if you have an all NBA guy this young this skilled to build this team around you just have to give him that type of money and frankly again looking at uh the contract scenarios for this Raptor team we’re tying a lot of bread up in RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickly and Scotty bars and obviously we’re in this rebuild we’re in this retool that everyone’s talking about everyone’s bringing up but uh I’m encouraged with this core and even if it’s a Le I think all these guys are tradeable if if things do hit the fan if things don’t really work out to the way that we’re expecting so I am excited I was happy to see Scotty Burns even if that number is a lot get that big contract from the Toronto Raptors we didn’t play around and Scotty’s excited he says the grind never stops time to win some mfing games so that’s uh that’s what Scotty Burns mentality is and I will be very very happy I know people want the rebuild they want to get those draff piics get Cooper flag all those types of things I want to root for winning Raptors back I’m sick of the tanks I’m sick of all this crazy stuff going on with these uh these tanks 2021 I don’t know if I can deal with another season like that so Scot burn lives up to that extension lives up to that uh big contract things going to be positive for the Toronto Raptors but let me know what you guys think of this deal in the comment section down below you guys the best thing far subscribe the channel I’m signing out cheers

  1. Scottie Barnes goes from getting around $10 million per year,
and soon he'll be getting around $38 mill a year , bumping each year .

I would be better with him getting $15-$20 mill a year
to start, then bump by a few 2 or 3 mill a year.

With the way players are getting paid, it's no wonder teams
can't build around them, since their salary cap is a problem .

P.S. it's funny how these players think that $10-$20 mill isn't enough to live off .
Do some really need $60 mill a year ? it makes me less interested
to watch these players , since all they want to do, is get paid .

  2. Jakob dont want to be on a rebuilding team ao trading him to a contender makes sense ..build trough the draft

  3. That's a lot of weight on that young man's shoulders…I think he's got it and in 3-4 years those numbers might not look that scary. I like this .

  4. Signing SB to a Max extension at a Max duration was the top priority for the Raptors off season, I like that they got it out of the way so early, Next up IQ. This is year 1 of the off season, but off to a good start

  5. This was the deal that had to happen. Now other important deals building towards another championship can take place.

  6. Happy for Scottie Barnes is he the future of the Toronto Raptors? Who knows but the man deserves the contract.

  7. Its why jakob poeltl is likely gone this summer. after scottie barnes, contract and immanuel quickley going to get 30-32 million a year for 4 years, there is zero cap space next year. they probably let agbaji walk next year as well cuz they cant give him a raise even if he improves.

  8. I personally think it is an overpay. I hope he proves me wrong. He will need to make a huge jump. RJ could be the real deal for the Raptors over Scottie.

  9. We should let GTj walk and trade Bruce Brown. Resign IQ with that money were saving. Shift IQ to his true position SG. Draft Bub Carrington or Tyler Kolek.
