The Press Box: Who should the Spurs select in the 2024 NBA Draft?
it is time now for the Press Box a segment on instant replay where we recap and preview the big headlines and sports time now to talk the 2024 NBA draft with Mary and Nick and our first topic tonight who do you think the Spurs should draft with their number four overall pick and the number eight overall selection Mary well I have two guys in mind of course both point guards uh both guards Reed Shepard from Kentucky and Stefan Castle from Yukon Stefan Castle in particular is a really exciting player and if he were to fall to the Spurs be awesome he’s 66 a proven perimeter Defender also a great passer um could be really interesting I got another point guard but I’m going with the uh all the way down in Kentucky I’m liking Rob Dillingham he’s filling that point guard position because of the way he can also facilitate his ability to not only find guys like wbe but he was averaging about 15 points a game guy who knows how to play in Big Time systems I want him at that number four pick then with that eighth pick I’m going all the way out to the Pack 12 Colorado he’s he’s a good guard I can see him maybe playing a three position Cody Williams he’s got great quality of size he’s got a lot of skill he plays with toughness and once to get his guys involved I like him at the eighth pick all right I’m going to go two guys Reed Shepard and I’m going to go dalon neck because both of those guys can shoot the ball our next question should the Spurs trade one or both of their first round draft picks and get a veteran player to play alongside whim and if so who okay if who if I me it’s the offseason right we just spitball we just say things it’s all speculation imagine Paul George in a Spurs uniform he’s a two-way player he’s incredible I I might have deep dived too far in some of the free agent availability but but um if the Spurs can somehow there’s there’s rumors saying that they’re a free agent destination and people are willing to take less money I’m curious to see play with wimy right yeah I’m curious to see if it’ll happen that be an interesting match up I will I know people in Philly are going to be a little bit annoyed by that cuz they want to see him match up with MP but I’m going to probably say that we should go ahead and get anybody out there this is not what the Spurs like to do they like to build it’s whether that’s through the draft whether or not it’s picking up and be a couple of young pieces here and there I think you got two picks right now maybe go International like they’re known to do but right now don’t they’re not rushing anything they’re sitting pretty they got wbe they’re going to pick him some pieces and stuff keep Deon Vel right where he is I like where we are I say we don’t go shopping I think Trey young is going to be way too expensive when it comes to trying to get somebody out there what do you think I kind of like the whole Darius Garland thing from the Cleveland Cavaliers but their price tag for him is probably more than really what the Spurs want to give up all right the Spurs have the 35th and 48th pick in the second round considering all that the draft picks that the Spurs may get where do the Spurs need the most help and how can they help improve the Spurs right away Mary the point guard position is pretty obvious right I mean they need help facilitating getting the ball to wemi making plays uh good perimeter defense to help out beyond the paint I mean there’s uh I don’t think really any question about that one right I’m right there with you I mean we we probably have the same brain we were thinking about that you know planning for a point guard is what we’re seeing Trey Jones we like you You’re great awesome guy great family guy but it t t time to when you’re going to have somebody matched up with Wy you need a guy was able to play that point guard position at that Wy level I don’t think Trey Jones is necessarily there yet I want to see them get somebody else in that position surround the team with some more Shooters like you were mentioning as well this way you have a more of a complete offense a complete team somebody who wants to play both ways as well pass pride in playing defense Pop’s going to love that I I I say that’s going to be exciting to see it’s going to be uh awesome to see how this NBA draft shakes up Mary thank you very much Nick thank you very much the 2024 NBA draft is next week first round is Wednesday from the barlay center in Brooklyn it’s live here on Kat 12 the second round will go down on Thursday from the ESPN C Park District studios in Manhattan
At long last: NBA Draft week is here.

Lets get Bronny James so we can get Bron
Mary is hot ❤
Castle at 4
Cody at 8
Yup spurs getting rob dillingham=parker 2.0 at 4 and nikola topic=manu 2.0 at 8 or Dalton knecht if topic not there 😅either get two best pg's or two best shooters to pair with Wemby/spurs but risacher slips to 4 doubt spurs pass on him since they trying to keep wemby happy 💯
Risacher and Castle.
I see two scenarios, Castle at 4 and Salaun/Carter at 8 or Risacher at 4 and Carter at 8
Castle!!! Yes need that guy at point. And Salaun at 8. Or Williams at 8 ether way let’s get Castle. A defensive point of attack with Wemby at center. Spurs basketball = defense.
Tre Jones is definitely a bonafide backup, but truely we need that point god to mesh with Wemby, Vassell & help get the team rolling back to the Top!!! Spurs4Life baby!!! 😎🤟💕💯
Great insight
We just need to extend Mamu folks. He blends well with Wemby.
I miss Greg Simmons 😢
Who cares still not going to be good 😂
Castle should be our guy at 4. We should NOT draft Dillingham UNLESS….Clingan is available at 4; then draft him and Dillingham at 8. Wemby is a wing/stretch 4 and Clingan along w Sochan will gobble the boards, create even more mismatched, and Dillingham being undersized is a non issue ala Avery Johnson in '99.
