Rookie Shaq’s Offensive and Defensive Showing, Magic Survives Late Collapse | ORL at WAS 11/7/1992
Now they put Grant on O’Neill. Spinning, hooking, hitting. Time out, I can’t believe they didn’t want a double team there with Grant guarding him. But the magic take the break. Fakes baseline, hooks, hits, draws the foul. He’s got to make that one, folks. O’Neill saves the rebound himself. On the floor. Juckshot. What they would like to do. Anderson in the lane. That hook won’t go. O’Neill the offensive rebound. Little flip shot is good for tonight. Anderson plays, blows by Smith, finger roll, no foul. O’Neill’s there. Gets the rebound and ducks it off. Dennis runs the screens beautifully in the lane. Hooks high, nice pass. Shaquille Now that was a pass. Here from Dennis. Now watch this. He sees Shaquille out of his arm and you see him through it over there and leads him directly. Pass is almost like he’s trying to be unselfish to a fault. Well so often in, oh my goodness. Really confused offensively. Now there’s another opportunity that was passed up by O’Neill. O’Neill another block She do the bullets 0-3 from the field. O’Neill tries to get it. Shaquille with the block and it’s 6.35 left. O’Neill had a block his third and he almost took Michael Adams into the fifth row so often. And Shaquille comes from out of nowhere to get a hand on that one. I guess that’s rather well there. Thirteen to shoot. Anderson fakes the three. Portiani. The shaq won’t go. Gets his own rebound in the lay-in. And the magic really has not gone for Shaquille quite as much here in the third period down the court as they did early in the game. Dennis Scott penetrates to O’Neill. Watch out. Twenty for Shaquille. Portiani fights through the trap. Ten to shoot. Boy the bullets. Trap has been very effective and O’Neill beats high screen. And Chapman also a three-point shooter. He’ll take a foul to O’Neill the block. Keep magic you hear. Will not foul Adams. Shoots and misses the three and the magic are 2-0. Boy they could have pulled it. They blew a 13-point lead but give them a whole lot of credit. They came back and won this game in the fourth quarter. Beating the Washington Bullets 1-0, 3-98. The magic with their first road win. Their second win in a row. Their 2-0.
