☝ WINDY WATCH πŸ‘† NBA Draft expectations + Is Paul George the MOST important free agent? | Get Up

the NBA draft is Wednesday luckily we have Brian wior here to give us the latest with his Wendy wife Wendy take us through well Ryan we’re still a little over 48 hours away and we don’t know who exactly the Atlanta Hawks are going to take with that number one pick there’s a lot of belief that they’re leaning towards Zachary rishe the French Wing 69 great uh skills on the outside but Alex SAR the big man from France is an interesting situation here because he has refused to work out for the Hawks trying the league believes to force his way to Washington at two but the Hawks are sending out a message today that they are still willing to take Alex SAR so let’s see how that develops over the next two days where this draft is going to really begin people believes at the number three pick with the Houston Rockets Donovan kingan out of Yukon is a player that some teams may be willing to move up for and if he is not picked by the Hawks or Wizards it’s possible the Rockets could move this pick they’re very deep at Center they would not be interested in NE necessarily doing that uh but they have they have made it clear that that pick is going to be available and they are listening to offers we’ll see if anybody moves up to take clean or if the Rockets stay foot that’s a big deal as we get into free agency which will begin this weekend we’re seeing a really what is a carousel of shooting guards developing there’s really four to keep an eye on Klay Thompson Paul George Demar Rosen and kentavius Caldwell Pope is expected to opt out of his contract with the Denver Nuggets my speculation in League sources believe that somebody’s going to be left without a chair here there’s a couple of teams that are interested in signing these guys in free agency such as Philadelphia or Orlando but not everybody’s going to have a spot and that could leave either Klay Thompson or Paul George maybe staying put thinking that that’s their best option so that shooting guard position demard de R Ro and a possibility as well maybe to leave the Bulls or stay put all of those things are going to define the first few hours of free agency that’s where the star power is in this free agent class legs does Paul George make the 76ers a true title Contender they need that type player no doubt about it right but that’s not the most important thing most important thing simply is Joel embiid being healthy for two straight months starting April 15th right if that happens now you’re in the mix legitimately to to listen right now nobody’s on the same level as the Boston Celtics but I think we’re all trying to see who’s going to claim that spot clearly as the number two in the East they could be that if that happened as long as you add some Talent on the Wing Paul George fits the Bill here’s the challenge with Paul George um look Philadelphia is desperate for a title there is a lot of pressure that comes with playing for that team particularly in the postseason and we have seen the effect that it’s had on people in the past in recent memory James Harden Ben Simmons two guys that come to mind Paul George is a guy that’s had some moments as well throughout his career a bit spotty in the playoffs does he answer something for them no question he’s certainly an upgrade over Tobias Harris in terms of what you give them offensively at that spot but what you really need is a guy that you feel like is not going to be uh affected by the moment in those big spots in the postseason I’m not sure that that’s your best answer if you’ve got some other options available at that spot all right so riddle me this legs yeah if this happens what is then the hierarchy of your Playmakers SL scorers who gets the ball in Philly oh that’s good well jol and be’s always going to be number one I got he’s going Court un healthy and then I would go for me it’s Tyre Maxi okay but look Paul George you you don’t bring him in to be a guy that’s going to be kind of spectating in those spots you don’t bring him in if that’s what you’re plan on going with do you feel that sets back the development of Tyrese Maxi to bring in Paul George no no I wouldn’t say that but I do question sometimes how much of the Tobias Harris mystery if I may call it that was system versus mindset because if essentially you’re just going to swap those two guys out yes Paul George has a different pedigree in terms of what he’s done as a Defender and as a scorer frankly in this league but what what does it look like right I just I I wonder about that just a little bit because to me if he’s healthy I think I might switch my hierarchy a little bit and have Paul George kind of be your be your second fiddle then Wendy is Paul George the guy though is this the most important domino in free agency well let’s remember that Paul George has three options one is to resign with the Clippers two is to enter free agency and go somewhere else like Philly or Orlando three three he can opt into his contract and get traded by this weekend that is something that is going to come to a head in the next day or two if he wants to go with that option because obviously you’d have to negotiate a trade and then the team wouldn’t necessarily need salary cap space so the Paul George sweep Stakes is going to come to a head at least that aspect of it faster than those other players who are going to be free agents like Klay Thompson or demard de R Roan so Paul Geor has a different menu of options and we’re going to see some action in that probably coming up you know very quickly after the draft well whatever it is we know that Paul George is a championship caliber player who hasn’t shown up in the playoffs like some of the great that we’ve seen and we’ve seen that in Philly more than once so it will be interesting to see where he ends up [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

On Get Up, Brian Windhorst joins Monica McNutt, Ryan Clark and Tim Legler to talk through his expectations for the NBA Draft and how Paul George could elevate the Philadelphia 76ers if he were to depart the LA Clippers in free agency.

  1. How is this realistic that klay or George go to Orlando ? I mean they have NO PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE ! Its a joke to go there !!! OR THEY RETIRE FOR BIG MONEY !!! But i hope Orlando is so smart that they give the player a SMART CONTRACT ! We see what Ben Simmons doing to NETS ! Not delivering but a huge gigantic contract !!!!

  2. I can't wait until the day one of these so called superstars go to a rebuilding team and bring a championship or change the culture im tired of this recycling players thinking its gonna change these franchises destiny

  3. Bring back Tobias Harris at a reasonable price. He was never bad, but he was getting star money for a role player. He’s solid at everything and great at nothing.

  4. DO NOT expect much from PG. Hell get hurt, hell miss time, he wont be much in the playoffs.. coming from a fan of a team hes play(ed) for.

  5. Paul George’s agent must be behind this all the way. He has never been the answer for a team trying to win a championship.

  6. Hierarchy should be Embiid, Maxey, and then whoever they bring in after. Even if they get LBJ that hierarchy should not change. Maxey has earned his spot as the #2 at this current point in time.

  7. This is what I don't like, Monica McNutt is someone who covers the Knicks and is someone who admittedly wants PG on the Knicks, so to drop the who gets the basketball after Embiid question if PG go to Philly feel very strategic and trying to a get a narrative out there, I don't like that because the very same argument can be made about the Knicks with Brunson, Randle and O.G who already said he wants a bigger role offensively, the same thing with Legs point about the "pressure in Philly", like there no pressure playing in the Garden, smh, but they won't bring this up because it doesn't fit the PG to N.Y narrative that was not only STARTED by ESPN and is being PUSHED by ESPN, only to be echoed by Youtubers and people on other networks, the heads on ESPN know the players hear everything so they drop seeds to at least nudge a player in a direction they want.

  8. Paul George, who is very old for basketball, could elevate the Sixers by joining them and taking up the rest of their salary cap space and then getting injured and missing important parts of the season and possibly the playoffs

  9. ESPN needs to stop overhyping every former superstar as being a game changer for a team. Everything they are saying about PG going to Philly, they said about him going to LA, and how did that workout?

  10. Point Maxey+SG PG13/Klay+SF Oubre+PF Harris/Batum+C Embiid. Salary cap notwithstanding, looks to me like Philly has a lot of work to do even after the maybe of Paul George or Klay.

  11. I understand Atlanta is by no stretch a good organization, but come on bro. Anyone who actively TRIES forcing their way to Washington should probably be passed on by any serious NBA team anyways πŸ˜‚

  12. Honestly, I feel like Philly should just make minor moves. Maybe just go for another quality starter and focus on resigning the guys you already have. Alex Caruso would have been an obvious option until he was traded

  13. I hate phili, imagine your trying really hard building around embid? Wth he a loser and no chance winning it all, then way back iverson era, you didnt even try to bring a allstar to back him up.
