Rumors: Could a potential trade for Tim Hardaway Jr benefit the Wizards and how?

could a potential trade for Tim Hardway Jr benefit the Washington Wizards and how and alexar refused to work out for the Atlanta Hawks but they hold all the cards I’m just saying next on locked on Wizards you are locked on Wizards your daily Washington Wizards podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what’s up people it’s your boy Brandon Scott again and I appreciate you guys making lock on Wizards your first listen every single day we are free and available wherever you get your podcast and on YouTube part of the locked on podcast Network your team every single day and tonight’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more as the playoffs wind down the Sports Stop sporting like we want them to but this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so look visit fand do.com lockon to get started all right everybody um Tim Hardway Jr to DC could it happen and how would it benefit the Wizards alexar refuses to work out for the Atlanta Hawks but the Atlanta Hawks hold all the cards so if they still indeed draft alexar what other prospects would I be looking at at the number two overall pick and there’s been some recent additions to the coaching staff so we’re going to talk about that at the end but let’s dig right back let’s dig into it it um Tim Hardway to DC now there was a report that the Wizards were on top of the list of teams that could potentially trade for Tim Hardway Jr from the Dallas Mavericks so could the Wizards potentially trade for Tim Hardway Jr and how would it benefit us and what kind of package would it take to acquire him okay so Tim Hardway Jr let’s take a look at his a contract real quick now he would be an expiring contract at an age 32 season the 2024 25 regular season he will be making $16.1 million so he will be an expiring contract so to me that’s kind of a plus because you have a guy that you’re not gonna have to be linked to long term because obviously if you look at the timeline of the Wasing Wizards with us being a rebuilding team he doesn’t fit the timeline but let’s take a look at some other factors real quick now looking at the Dallas Mavericks real quick and their pick situation they held the 58th overall pick which is in the second round um this year’s draft and that’s the only draft pick they have so if we were try to get draft Capital away from Dallas taking on Tim Hardway Jr what draft picks would be available now looking at the draft picks uh for the Dallas Mavericks they have their own 2025 first round pick they also have t the Toronto Raptors second round pick for 2025 they also owned their first round pick for 2026 but then 202 7 they traded all the picks away so after that they hold two two uh second round picks in the 2028 NBA draft and one belongs to our previously belonged to Miami and the other one is Charlotte or the Los Angeles Clippers so what kind of package could we float to the Dallas Mavericks to obtain Tim Hardway Jr no I guess before we even get in that would I even entertain a move for Tim Hardway Jr where would we play him what kind of minutes would be a lotted well again if you look at the the current roster construction of the Washington Wizards we could add we get you know we could definitely add and we definitely need another shooter now landre shamut is a trade candidate right now and if you look at his contract he has two years and yeah both years are Ungar but he’s got two years nevertheless and he he could in the Dallas Mavericks is a team that is looking at lry Shaman so that’s what I’m saying any potential move you know I would definitely look at flipping ler Shaman to Dallas now would I want to make the move it really depends on what we get right you know if we get draft capital or that that that would be a reason that I will make a move with Tim Hardway Jr now am I beating on the door to get Tim Hardway Jr no but with him being an expiring contract if it’s if it’s tied to a first round pick I would definitely entertain that deal now if it’s just one1 like kind of like the Alex Caruso and Josh giddy trade one-onone player for player you know I I don’t see where Tim Hardway Jr really moves the needle for the Washington Wizards you I’m gonna say no if it’s player on player now if if he’s attached to a first- round pick and like I said looking at the Dallas Mavericks in in their NBA draft pick situation I mean if they if they’re willing to give up the 2025 first round pick then I’m G say yes you make that move you know you definitely make that move because he’s a candidate that we can flip at the deadline you know obviously he’s not part of the long-term you know vision of the Washington Wizards in the front office so he would definitely be a guy that I would try to flip at the deadline and but again if he comes with the 2025 first- round pick you make that move especially for L Shaman because again I do like L Shaman and he’s shown that he can be that sniper that we need and he’s very athletic but he’s a movable commodity you know everybody on this team is tradable you know the team the front office organization does like Corey Kiser and den AIA but everybody’s everybody’s tradeable except for B kabali you know Bala is the one Untouchable player on this roster so you know we’ll see um because if we do acquire Tim Hardway Jr he’s a guy that you a you can flip at the deadline and get value back and get further value back and if he’s attached to a first- round pick you make that move now you know looking at in a potential deal you know would they be willing to give up a first- round pick for a guy like land Shaman and and again nothing against L Shaman I think he’s definitely an asset on the second unit for a team that has aspirations for you know contending which the Dallas Mavericks have the aspiration they could definitely use another shooter on the second unit in my opinion and and you know they it’s been rumored that they’ve been trying to move on from Tim Hardway Jr for some time now so that that’s where I’m at guys you know if we make a move for Tim Hardway Jr again I’m not really knocking down the door for Tim Hardway Jr to come to DC and it’s nothing against him personally as a player if he doesn’t fit the timeline you know we need to get rid of a lot of the Vets we have on the team because it needs to be a youth movement in DC and we needed a lot a lot of the minutes towards the young pieces that we have not only Denny Avia Cory kissper B kabali and we’ll see about Johnny Davis but with this draft coming up with us holding two first round picks in the second overall and in the 26th overall and having the 51st overall in the second round and the capability to trade back into the lottery looking at potential moves like 13 for Sacramento and a potential Kyle kma trade you very well could add two or three to four young players in this draft so it definitely has to be youth movement in see and you have to look to move most of these vets that we have because again we covered this the last episode but you know T Jones he’s a candidate for a signing trade because he is an un unrestricted free agent this off season you know the wizard are going to try to get some kind of asset back for T Jones now was the best time when was the best time to move him it was probably at the deadline this previous season but you know the thing right now is they they have to try to get some assets back for tus Jones but you he very well could walk for nothing and and that’s that’s that’s a likelihood that you look a lot of wizard fans are going to have to accept that you probably we’re probably going to let tus Jones walk for free now but I still think that they’re GNA definitely look at the option of a signing trade for tyus Jones but you know L shamp is a guy who’s been rumored uh the be on the move is a potential trade candidate and you looking at ran Holmes he’s not going anywhere for at least a year because he’s the um the reports are he’s going to enact his player option for $12.9 million which is a total that he was going to get on the open Mar so I get it from his standpoint but ran Holmes again just like Marvin Bley the third is a guy that could be flipped at the deadline so getting back to Tim Hardway Jr and should we make the move to get him if it’s attach to a first round pick yes if it’s not no you don’t make that move because yes he’s an aspiring contract but if we need another shooter we might as well go ahead and we have Shaman so you know and to me Shaman is the guy who can definitely be that sniper Force they kind of help out Cory kissper and other guys on the outside man but um we’re going to see a look at his statline real quick for Tim Hardway Jr and could he help if we make that move so looking at his statline from this previous season he averaged 14.4 points a game he shot 35% from three and he shot let me look I’m trying to find his field goal percentage come on now all right 40% from phield goal range so he’s a guy who can definitely help us in the shooting department and you know he’s aspiring contract so you’re not you’re not going to be linked to him long term he’s an aspiring contract so we’re not going to have to hold him for more than one year and again you can flip him at the deadline kind of in the same mode as ran Holmes and Marvin Bagley the third which I think that is definitely the plan going forward that with Marvin magy third and ran Holmes and especially Tim Hardway Jr if we indeed acquire him they’re all pieces to move at the deadline and grab more picks because again the Washington Wizards are modeling the rebuild on Oklahoma City which is acquiring all the draft Capital you can and acquiring young players that are versal you know if you look at Oklahoma City they have a lot of Versatility on in their lineup on their roster and they Sam prey has been known as a guy who knows how to accumulate draft picks and that’s what they’re trying to do in DC accumulate draft picks for the future for you know to acquire young Talent OR to use as leverage in any potential trades so when we get to that point where we want to add pieces for you know when we get in contention or become a playoff team you can utilize those draft picks you know later on as draft Capital you know or as trade Capital to pick up a you know one or two pieces to help this team help this young core out when it is indeed time for this team to start playing for contention so you know like I said the model is OKC acquiring picks acquiring young players and so you know looking at Tim Hardway Junior I I I make that move guys if he’s attached to a first round pick now if it’s player for player between him and landre shamut I’m not making that move now Dallas could be the team to jump in front of the Sacramento Kings and maybe because they we were this close to tr trading Kyle kumma to the Dallas Maverick last or this last trade deadline and we instead sent Daniel Gafford so they could reite talks maybe Kyle K because the Dallas Mavericks if you look at the NBA Finals they’re a team that has a lot of talent you know Luca donz to me you know I know he gets hit on for his lack of Defense but he’s definitely a top tier player in the NBA and looking at Kyrie a lot of people been on him over the years but Kyrie pro has proven that in the right environment in the right system with the right coaching you know with him especially with him being a vet man he can he can produce and he’s always and production’s never been an issue with Kyrie it’s just we all know that I’m not gonna get into it with Kyrie but he found the right spot that knows how to get the best out of it in my opinion you know it definitely wasn’t Brooklyn and you know Boston we ain’t gonna talk about that so um you know Dallas could definitely use another score and Kyle kman is a guy who 20 plus a game can definitely be a good score for the Dallas magers and hopefully help them push over the top in in a really really tough Western Conference but getting back to Tim hard Jr my decision everybody is if he’s attached to a first round pick yes you make that move if he’s not I’m staying away from that move I don’t think it’s necessary I think that we could find a shooter in landre Shaman or in this year’s draft so we’re gonna look forward real quick Alex sawar refused his workout with Atlanta H Atlanta Hawks but does that mean that he he’s not necessarily going to Atlanta and what picks would or what prospects would I’m look at at number two if indeed the Atlanta Hawks take alexar with the second overall pick but everybody H so next subject at hand is Alex SAR the guy that the likelihood is is definitely gonna be available number two overall he refused to work out with the Atlanta Hawks but does that necessarily mean they won’t take him and what prospects would I be looking at with the second overall pick if we miss out on Alex SAR so again a reports came out that alexar did refuse to work out for the Atlanta Hawks now would that mean that they’re necessarily not going to draft him we’ll see it a lot of smoking mirror going on right now with the number one overall pick Atlanta Hawks whether they pick rash whether they pick alexar whether they pick Donan kingan whether they trade back with with a team like the San Antonio Spurs for the fourth and eighth overall pick in the first round lot of capabilities with the Atlanta Hawks but I’ll say this they’ve been linked to donin kingan and Zachary rash but they do like Alex are now is it a big deal that ref he refused to workout to a certain degree yes you know it they that could be the fact that it could kind of push him to another Prospect because you want a guy to who wants to play in your city I you know they could very well go out and still draft him and I think that you know Alex SAR young man he definitely wants to play in the NBA he’s going to he’s going to play you know he I mean you know he may not be happy he may not be the destination he wants but that’s pretty much the process for 99% of all prospects right very rarely do you go where you want to go and very rarely do you have the type of clout to kind of hold back from going somewhere you know looking at um Eli Manning with you know when he got drafted by the San Diego Charger or San Diego Chargers at the time um he refused and ended up getting uh sent to the New York Giants and then history as you know he did well in New York so is he in Eli Manning we’ll see um because he did flat out refus to work out for the Atlanta Hawks but does that mean that they don’t draft him I don’t think so I think they hold all the cards and they know that one the Washington Wizards really like alexar you know that he’s a favorite of the fan base so they have all the leverage so they very well could still draft Alex SAR so if they so if they draft alexar who would I pick with the number two overall pick and there’s a couple guys I’m looking at number one the 73 280 PB Center out of University of Connecticut Donovan cling I look since Gortat and one year of Dwight Howard we haven’t had a legitimate rim protector in DC for a long time since then 73 280 pounds he has the body to play in the NBA yeah there’s other factors like at you know as a RI rim protector yes he fits that mold now what are some concerns obviously with his team was number one in Pace last year and it’s pretty much going to be the same emo this year is pick up the pace push the Pace become a faster team in transition would would Donan kingan be able to hang in transition with a fast team led by you know point guard Jordan pool we’ll see um you know that’s one question mark his offensive output right his three-point shot he has been working on you saw that the NBA uh draft combine you know his three-point shot in mid-range are a couple areas that he’s definitely working on the biggest thing with the Wizards is this is a team who’s going to year or two of rebuild it’s a developing team it’s a rebuild building team so you can still you know develop those parts of this game right now we need a rim protector we need a legitimate 7even foot guy in there who’s a rim protector now you know I get it some of you gonna say oh well you got Tristan vich yeah and you’re 100% right trist vich is definitely part of the future with him being a second round pick he got a two-year contract now he’s going to his second year so he’ll be an aspiring deal he would be you know so this is kind of a prove a year for Tristan vich now long term do will the Wizards end up resign into an extension I think so you know look at his age look at his capabilities he’s a seven-footer who again you know is is projected to be a rim protector who can definitely spread the floor but for the sake of death you definitely go out there and get domy clinging at number two but there’s another guy I’m looking at Matas bazilus he’s a guy I’m very very very high on I think he’s a guy that you definitely definitely have to take a look at you know because he he’s athletic he’s versatile yeah his offensive game especially his three-point shot is something that he needs to develop further and get better at um defensively you know he could get better but he’s not too bad he’s very solid Defender I he’s athletic he’s a guy he’s goingon to attack the realm attack the rim with power you know he’s goingon to posterize some people so I’m very intrigued by matal billas man um Zachary sa would I be totally out on him no I know that a lot of wizards fans are definitely down on Zach re and I to get it you know we have a lot of forwards but here’s the thing to really talk about when it comes to zachar and whether he could be because I I’m gonna be 100 with you guys I like donin kingan even though he’s been linked to Atlanta he’s been linked to Houston he’s been U the Memphis Grizzlies like him they they’re willing to trade up to get him if we miss out on alexar I’m gonna say that was wiz are gonna they’re gonna draft Zach and reash where would he fit easy if you look at B and Denny if the Wizards move on from Kyle kosma Denny can play the four so it’s between Bal or Zachary rash which one you want to see as a two guard because rash can play the two he play the three he play the four versatility is the name of the game and that’s what this you know will Dawkin Michael Winger Travis schlank you know now Troy Weaver you know this front office they like versalo guys so you know I’m not totally down on Zachary zash I think that he could definitely be an asset in DC you know he’s projected to be a a three and D player he can shoot the ball you know he’s he’s very solid defensively now there’s areas he needs to work on defensively but I definitely see him being a three andd player in DC so look at at a potential lineup that you know with Jordan pull the point maybe bow the two or Zachary s two BL to three Den to four and we’ll see at the five because I definitely think that we need to get a center in this draft if it’s not Don M Clingan maybe you try to trade back into the lottery get klew or Zack Edy or at 26 you’re looking at yeis Messi out of Baylor and he’s a guy who’s a rim protector a more traditional big and I think he could definitely fit the mo long term and definitely um and definitely develop because again you guys look we had Marvin Bagley third for one year got ran for one year and we got trist vich so but longterm what is the the long-term Outlook as far as the center position you’re looking at trist vich and P another player so we definitely need to come out this draft with another Center in my opinion U so you know look you know Alex SAR that is’s a high chance he comes to DC he wants to come here they we want him to come here I mean everybody’s very high on on alexar and for good reason he’s a seven-footer who can stretch the floor now can his his offensive game definitely needs to be tweaked you know he’s not a finished product you know his three-point shot is mid-range putting the ball on the floor you know playing with his back to the basket are all areas that he needs to work on but you see the potential offensively defensively I mean he’s Swift on his feet he’s versatile he’s a rim protector he I mean he’s a good health protector you know he is definitely definitely a really good high-end defensive player you know the offensive game is going to come with proper development and we have that in place with Brian Keef and Company with you know with this front office with their Vision you know I I firmly believe that if alexar comes to the Wizards they’re going to get him there man you know they’re going to develop him the way he needs to be developed but if Atlanta grabs him with the number one overall pick I I firmly believe that the wasi Wizards especially if you look at that the connection between rash and black kulali both being French players and that can and that’s not the only French Connection obviously to Jean Salon a guy who’s slated anywhere from 8 to 15 he’s another French player that we should definitely Target if we trade back into the lottery but you know I I’m leaning towards rashay as far as if I’m predicting what the wizard is going to do you know because Don King right now Houston’s looking at him and Houston’s looking to maybe trade the number three overall pick to Memphis at number nine so Memphis could get Donovan cling because I think he definitely fits with what they’re trying to do in the immediate and in the future and you know because and it’s very intriguing to see him in in line in a tall lineup with jiren Jackson Jr that would definitely be very very nasty in Memphis man but getting back to whiz kids um there’s a high chance that Alex R comes to DC because again from an organizational standpoint do you necessarily want to make that move to draft the guy who doesn’t want to go to your team you still can you hold all the cards and Atlanta holds all the cards but they could look at it like he doesn’t want to come here and there’s other options Ras Shake could be a player that could definitely contribute in Atlanta because Atlanta is in a gray area do they trade Trey young do they trade jonte Murray you know you have the young core in Kobe buffkin and Jaylen Johnson to build upon and I think Ras you combine him with Jaylen Johnson and Kobe buffkin that’s a nice young Court in Atlanta you know climp Capella’s on his way yeah you know what did they have in a in a conqur is he a long-term piece so there’s a lot of questions with the Hawks so you know he they very well could go res shake so you know if if you know if alexar drops two the Wizards at two I’mma be very very happy but if they pick him if if the Atlanta Hawks pick him at number one I’m if I’m a betting man I’m going bet that the Wizards go reset but they should definitely look at donin kingan because again we need a rim protector and he fists that mold so we’re going to look at some coach additions that the Wizards made and as Bri new head coach Brian Keefe fills out the rest of his staff but before we do tonight’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel so I love sports I love them so much I never want them to stop but as the playoffs wind down we get fewer games and the sports aren’t sportsing like I want them to right but FanDuel had lets me keep the sports going whenever I want all I have to do is open the app and dream up bets anytime I’m in the mood and this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers every single one with a boost or a bonus daily every single day that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so headit over to fanduel.com lockon and start making the most out of your summer FanDuel the official sports betting partner of Major League Baseball all right everybody that the Wizards did make um a few additions to their coaching staff so I’m going pull it up right now uh they hired JJ Outlaw and Adam caporn now we’re going to look at their background real quick now looking at um Outlaw uh he’s been an assistant coach since 2011 where he spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2011 to 2016 the Memphis Grizzlies from 2016 to 2019 before going to the Cleveland Cavaliers uh he’s also from Columbia Maryland so he is a local product and he played football for the Atlanta the Atlantic 10 Conference which is now a CA conference uh Atlantic 10 is more of a basketball Powerhouse as far as um division one but he did play football also in Villanova in division one FCS uh he was drafted in NFL and played two years for the Philadelphia Eagles oh Lord uh but you know I think he is definitely a solid addition to Brian Keefe’s coaching staff now the other gentleman to look at Adam caporn uh spent the last three years with the Brooklyn Nest organization starting has a long island Nets coach in the g- league for the 2021 to 2022 season before going to the Brooklyn Nets staff itself um he also has experience at St Mary’s where he where he actually went to college and uh the basketball Australia Center of Excellence so both of these guys have good experience man they’re definitely solid additions to Brian kei’s coaching staff as he continues to build his coaching staff so um definitely he’s going to add a lot more pieces to his coaching staff but like I said I think they’re solid additions in my opinion they definitely solid additions because Brian Keef is he’s the guy now he’s the new head coach and you know you know with him in Tanner with David vandero another guy who’s been linked to head coaching um openings I think we’re going to see a very very solid coaching staff man so I’m very happy with the move so definitely comment below let me know what you guys are thinking do you like the moves uh what type of coaches would You’ like to see brought into Washington to help boost up head coach Brian Keef so all right everybody it is the NBA draft Eve right tomorrow night is round one of the NBA Draft so um the NBA draft is actually two days now it’s kind of like the NFL where they have multiple days um uh round one is tomorrow night at 8 o’clock and round two the same time on Thursday night so definitely watch the draft and tomorrow we are going live so as soon as number 26 is in the books um subject to any trade back I don’t think we’re going to trade after 26 but um after we make our 26th overall selection man I will be going live with you guys to celebrate laugh or cry depending on who we get um and celebrate uh new additions to the Washington Wizards young core um so definitely rock with your boy tomorrow night because we are going live right after pick number 26 so um again I I appreciate you guys man I appreciate you guys taking time out of your day to watch to listen to talk ball with me um like I said this channel doesn’t grow without you guys so I definitely appreciate you guys so I definitely look forward to chopping out with you guys tomorrow night to celebrate the new additions to the Washington Wizards young core so Hail to the Wizards and peace see you guys tomorrow night

  1. Why do you sweat so hard in your videos Ed? Turn the fan on it’s hot out here my guy and plz don’t trade for him. No need for him here

  2. You asking if THJ can "help" us??? We don't want anyone like THJ on our roster playing hard for his next contract & may cost us some losses (remember Cooper Flagg), and take mins away from our young guys development.
Only way we make that trade is, if we're just doing a Landry Shamet roster spot dump & buying THJ out.

  3. As a Wizards fan, you can't but absolutely love Sarr. Doesn't have anything with his basketball skills, I'm talking about having a player "Actually Say They WANNA Play in DC"!!
Let's 🙏🏾 Cooper Flagg says the same thing next year 😂😂

  4. Pass on thj. We are in year 2 of a rebuild, about to tank for the next 2 years. What’s the point. This makes no sense

  5. Why do we need THJR? If it’s for a trade package then yea but if not then why? He doesn’t fit the “timeline”… so why even Discuss it? Now if you wanna talk then we can talk about Kuzma being the 3rd option next to Luka and Kyrie. Dallas needs another scoring option

  6. Would be a decent acquistion he can shoot it and he can also bring another veteran presence to the locker room. The way he handled his playing time to end the season shows he is a high character professional guy. He’s on the last year of his deal too so we can either buy him out so he can go help a team ready to win or trade him at the deadline otherwise even let him walk in the offseason.

  7. Shamet for THJ and the 58th pick trade #58 and #52 to Boston for #55 and #30 Boston is set to be a second apron team again I doubt they want to add a 1st round contract and now you can sign second round picks to 4 year contracts.

  8. You cannot draft a role player in the top 5 of the draft, if you don't identify a guy who can be your teams #1 or #2 option for the next 10 years, then you trade the pick for futures or an All Star level player or better.! Go get Zach Edey and Rob Dillingham and call it a day!!! Let them be the building blocks of your team for the next 10 years!!!
