Woj: Hawks have ‘not landed’ on who they’ll take with the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft | SportsCenter

start with the NBA draft because that is just over 24 hours away and we’ve got the Hawks picking number one on the draft for just the second time since the modern draft era began in 1966 Atlanta won the lottery despite clinching a play in spot last season they only had a 3% chance to win that number one pick and alas they got it anyway Yukon has two projected top 10 picks in Donovan kingan and Stefon Castle this would be the second time in the modern draft era that the huskys have multiple top 10 picks in the same draft joining a mecca okaf for and Ben Gordon that was back in 2004 and this could be the second straight year that a Frenchman goes first overall 19-year-old phenoms Zachary ree Alex SAR are expected to occupy the top two spots and our analytics give SAR a 73% chance to go number one despite what the analytics say though our friends over at ESPN bet well they have Ray as the oddson favorite for that number one pick SAR sandwiched between the two huskys players for the third shortest odds to go first overall for more on if Atlanta going to order the French dip our senior NBA Insider Adrien wowski is on the scene from Brooklyn and he has much more for us W what are you hearing about the Hawks plans with that top pick Al certainly uh Zach rashay you know he’s prominent in their conversations in Atlanta they have not yet landed I’m told on who they’re going to take number one and they’re still listen there are a few players that they really like what they’re trying to figure out in Atlanta is there one they love and you know they still have 24 hours plus to make that decision but they’ve been sifting through you know all their data you know the conversations in their front office with their head coach uh Quin Snyder uh this is a organization that I think right now looks very much like they’re going to keep that number one p pick they’re not engaged with anybody about moving down uh certainly Risha Shay is prominent in that conversation El but Atlanta has not yet landed on what they’ll do uh Wednesday night with with number one last time Atlanta picked number one overall they took David Thompson who chose the ABA over playing for them and then became a Hall of Famer in the NBA just not for them another chapter in the Atlanta Sports heartbreak book another potential top pick W is yukon’s Donovan Kling in W what are you hearing from teams about where he might land yeah Donan kingan’s going to be one of the real intriguing draft night stories and where he lands on the board there are a number of teams who would love to move up in the draft and try to land this 7 foot2 Center out of Yukon out of Bristol Central High School I think he becomes in play at number three with Houston uh but I think teams like Memphis at number nine uh Chicago further down in the lottery Portland at number seven uh I think probably his floor in this draft is Portland at seven but teams generally feel like if they got up to five if they were able to trade up to six you know that’s where I think those teams are targeting uh to try to get Donovan Kling in but uh there’s no shortage of interest in him uh from teams who are in the back end of that Lottery and I think so much is going to depend on draft night and if he starts to move from three to four to five I think the sweet spots to try and trade up for kinging number five with Detroit number six with Charlotte Yeah you mentioned it and it was just on the screen for the folks at home that our current mock up on espn.com has clinging going seventh overall to those Trailblazers W with the absolute latest we’re just over 24 hours away from the NBA draft than [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

  1. The Pistons at 5 should get the center. How did Atlanta get the number 1 pick and San Antonio get a top pick again. The league is helping the Spurs out! NBA draft needs to change from the way they do the draft. And I am aware of their rationale for this approach and it does not work.

  2. The analyst have been given Bronny James higher rankings. Initially 55 and now that got him at 43 or so. LBJ is waiting to see who take him to determine where he might want to go.

  3. @ 0:30 did she just say "Frechmen"?

If the 1st pick was born in China, can one say China-men, without being canceled?

  4. Whoever is in the top three will determine just how good or not this draft is. Folks that have not even seen ONE of these top 3 players play are calling this one of the Worst Drafts ever. When will folks ever Learn. Likely NEVER.

  5. phenom? if there was a phenom in this draft, the team that has that # overall pick would not be debating or confused on who to take. this draft will be good draft for teams looking for get good role players not stars. championship caliber teams that just needs 1 or 2 good pieces will love this draft class

  6. I Just Can Feel It Atlanta Is Gone Fumble This If They Trade The Pick Or Keep The Pick Its Going To Be A Fumble 😂 Lol

  7. Would you look at that, actual draft coverage, huh? Talk of the #1 pick; I guess 24 hour before is better than never.

  8. Atlanta Hawks have the bittersweet-bitter this year.

Poor regular season resulting to miss the playoffs — Landed 1st overall pick with only 3% chance — Weak draft prospect 🥲

  9. Weak draft class…I dont think Sarr is anywhere close to wemby as far as talent and with the hawks hes gonna end up being a bit of a project. I can see him being a good rotational piece years later.

I would keep my eye on that one kid from serbia…these euros dude….I think they have more to offer than these US college players right away

  10. I have a feeling we will look back at this draft as an actual solid one that produces some solid players.

  11. Hawks are f none of those players wants to be drafted by them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  12. NBA should change draft rules roll a dice to see who gets to pick and not go by standings that way teams play hard and it would eliminate the thought of tanking ❤
