Toronto Raptors Sign Scottie Barnes To $270M Extension My Thoughts!!

yo what’s going on guys it’s Houston Sports Talk Back to another video today and today the Toronto Raptors have signed Scotty Barnes to a five year $270 million extension two huge extensions today Chris Finch gets an extension from the Minnesota tals their head coach um so that’s a huge extension and then obviously the biggest one Scotty Barnes gets uh a huge deal I mean look I love scardi Barnes I think he’s underrated I think he’s a little hated in my opinion I think he has a great future in this league um and I I’m I’m rooting for him but honestly and and I I think maybe as he gets older and you’ve seen in his career each season he gets better so that’s a great sign right but this money he’s gonna have to he’s gonna have to the money he’s getting he’s gonna have to really really have a breakout Four Season in my opinion or Fifth Season or you know honestly this is a lot of money for someone who hasn’t even had a 20 point per game season yet well it’s pretty near that this season average 19 points per game this season but just my point is right though um fiveyear $270 million deal $225 million guaranteed if you’re just look look at the guaranteed money that’s 45 million a year let’s say I mean it’s it definitely isn’t isn’t fully it’s it’s it’s definitely not guaranteed uh but let’s say he gets every dollar that is in his contract $270 million let’s say he gets every penny that means he’s making $54 million a year and it’s no hate on him but he hasn’t even had a 20 point per game season um outside of his rookie season in the 21 22 season where he wasn’t even the best player on the team has not made the postseason so um I think it’s a lot of money for someone who has only made the postseason once in their career and one the first one was as a rookie when really when they were you know when he was a rookie he wasn’t even the the best player on the team I’m sure he’s the best player on the team now but you know since he has been the best player on the team they have not made the postseason he’s not had 20 point per game season so um yeah been a good season though this past season really good season 19 19 and a half points per game six assists per game eight rebounds per game uh he does you know he does it all he’s great defensively too that’s another thing that’s a great that’s a great part of his game he’s great defensively average 1.5 blocks per game 1.3 steals per game it’s not just all about offense with him he a great rebounder and he’s a he’s a great defender um and Shop Walker um so so look I think he has a great future and if he can continue to improve this contract doesn’t look bad but um obviously in his his third year he’s going to continue to improve and if he can take the fourth year jump I expect a big season for him but um this is a huge contract contract for uh for a guy like him but we’ll see what happens let your thoughts and peace out
