Who the Cavaliers Could Be Eyeing in Free Agency or Trade – Sports4CLE, 6/24/24

some names you think that the Cavs could be looking at as potential free agent trade targets that would make sense now that we know it’s Kenny Atkinson yeah free agency is going to be tough because you don’t have a whole lot of money to spend you’re gonna you know you you’ll have the money that that Tristan Thompson and Damen Jones and some of those other minimum contracts are for but you’re going to be able to uh find some you know if you’re trading Darius Garland then all of a sudden you know you’re creating exceptions you hope and uh bringing back bigger names right you know obviously we’ve heard the name Brandon Ingram from the Pelicans who’s widely supposed to be available uh San Antonio I’ve been told repeatedly would really pursue Darius Garland if he becomes available and I think those are the two teams that you’d really have to keep an eye on are New Orleans and San Antonio uh San Antonio obviously wanting to you know a decent point guard uh because you got Victor Wana there and you want to you want to get you know start winning some games there so um I think that those would be the two teams to keep an eye on I don’t know what San Antonio would give you back I I you know Darius Garland Brandon Ingram those salaries match I think that if you’re going to trade Garland um probably you know somebody like a a Brandon Ingram would be probably the the high that you’re going to get especially because Darius just didn’t have a great season uh last year so the numbers or the the return probably isn’t going to be that great free agency it’s tough to predict just because you don’t know you know first of all you’ve got to take care of Donovan Mitchell right you you’ve got to figure that out you’ve also got to figure out what’s going on with Darius Garland and then you got to figure out you still got Evan Moy who can sign that contract extension who I’m sure is going to the rookie scale deal uh where he’s going to get a max deal uh or as much as he can get and then you know you’ve got Isaac okoro who is a restricted free agent what do you do with that you know I don’t I think that that’s not a huge priority for the Cavs but they’ve got to figure that out do we want Isa okoro back and if not how are we going to replace them so I I think there’s a lot of other they got to take care of business inh housee before they can even worry about you know how we going to how we going to fill out the bench and that’s all they’ll be doing really is filling out the bench uh if they do turn towards free agents
