Bridges wasn’t going to be traded without the Nets securing their ’25 (swap) and ’26 picks. The inflated value y’all are putting on a now tanking Nets’ picks wouldn’t have existed without the trade they made with us.

How are so many people not understanding this?

Here's the trade, put much more concisely by Shams.

Nets receive:

  • Nets' 2025 FRP (Houston held swap rights)
  • Nets' 2026 FRP (Houston held pick outright)

Houston receives:

  • Suns' 2025 FRP (We own swap rights, no protections)
  • Suns' 2027 FRP (We own the pick outright, no protections)
  • Suns' or Dallas' 2029 FRP (We have outright ownership of the best of either pick)
  • Suns' or Dallas' 2029 FRP (We have swap rights to the worst of either pick)

So we just got 4 FRPs for the price of 2.

    Friendship ended with Nets downfall

Now Suns downfall is my best friend

And they damn near solidified that nets 27 pick swap being a much better pick

This fanbase has some of the loudest, dumbest people on Earth in it.

If we don’t make this trade, BKN most likely tries to trade for a guard who could’ve destroyed the value of 25, 26 & 27.

At least now, 27 swap is likely to be great

Plus we have more stuff in 29

It was a damned good trade, imo

There was ***absolutely no guarantee*** of the Nets landing Flagg next year. They wouldn’t have gone full tank w/o securing their picks back from us, so they’d have still been competing in ’25 and ’26. Best case scenario, they absolutely shit their pants, land in the lottery, and… have a 14% chance of getting the #1 overall pick. And with them not being able to tank, it’s hardly a sure thing that they’d have landed that 14% chance – maybe it’s more like 8-12%.

So Stone punted on that gamble to invest in our current core, position us to pursue some big additions in the next year or two by dangling those picks, or just cashing in the picks if/when the Suns absolutely implode post-KD and Book.

I don’t hate it, and I absolutely don’t understand the people that are looking at this like we just lost Flagg. He was never a guarantee – still isn’t for them, despite them committing to the tank lol

it is correct to say the Nets would never tank without their picks.

But you also have to realize that they also wouldn’t trade bridges for that massive haul of picks they got from the Knicks.

So we had insane leverage over them and we let them off easy.

the chance of the 2025 or 2027 pick being even a lottery pick is low.

So we are basically betting the deal on Booker or Luka forcing there way out and the team sucks in 5 years. for two picks that have a good chance of a lottery pick.

No,,, we got two Draft picks and two potential Draft Swaps,,, for two Picks. Those swaps may not happened if THE SUNS have better record. This deal was FAIR for both teams. THE NETS got what they wanted. Their 1st rd picks the next two season.

I GIVE HOUSTON A “C+” for this DEAL.

2025 FRP pick, a draft that is full of talent and hyped up and fully scouted, and 2026 FRP pick – both from a team that was mediocre in the East last year and had absolutely no ambitions of getting significantly better next year.

Versus a couple FRPs from a team that currently has KD, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal under contract through one of the draft picks they gave us.

I’ll take my chances with the first option plz.

I understand the logic, but I simply don’t agree with the premise. The Knicks gave them 5 UNPROTECTED 1sts and a future Bucks 1st for a guy who proved he isn’t a cornerstone player. He’s an A tier role player who netted a superstar haul.

Marks should’ve been fired if he turned this trade offer down, even if the Rockets never agreed to return their picks back.

Yeah but they did make the trade and the value is real,
And this is the dumbest post I’ve seen j.lin 5 years lol

This trade was a wild ride of getting bits and pieces in separated tweets. When laid out like this, one 1st and one swap for two 1st and two swaps. Seems good but those are a long ways away. A swap in 2029 five years from now could mean going from 30th to 1st. But it could also just not convey at all.

We knew the Brooklyn swap would convey in 2025. They’re still a lottery team even with bridges.

    I imagine we’d get 9th & 12th in 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Vs swap from 19th to 14th in 2025, 10th in 2027, 10th pick in 2029, and a swap in 2029 that has a 50% chance to not convey at all but it’s also so far out that it could be a top 14 pick if both Dallas and suns suck.

These are just my approximate expectations. Give or take 3 spots for each pick.

We knew we wanted to kick the can down the road to keep our options open. This front office has shown from the start of the rebuild that the priority is flexibility.

In terms of value, we won’t know how good the trade is until 2032 when we have 3 years to judge the prospects we will get in 2029. But it accomplished our goal of staying flexible.

The nets rebuild is going to be ugly for the next couple years. Let’s hope they still stink by 2027 for that swap we still have.

We had our 1st round picks when we were tanking. Did we get Wemby, Cade, Paolo?

Didn’t think so. Draft business is always a gamble.

Yet people think we were trading Flagg for peanuts
