I don’t understand why people rate Edey over Ware or Holmes. In the modern NBA you need a atheltic shot blocking big thats a lob threat pretty much what Dereck Lively is for the Mavericks. Edey’s college game is not going to translate to the NBA well alot of his points came from him overpowering College defenders and him getting offensive rebounds which lead to and 1 putbacks/ fouls. He’s not doing that to NBA defenders.

I’d be intrigued by it but I don’t love it love it. Especially because I just don’t buy Edey’s ability to ever stretch the floor which means playing him next to AD is a huge stretch. If Bron’s three ball regresses from what he shot last year it’s even more of a terrible fit. But do I believe Edey can torch bench lineups? Yes.

I know people are low on him but Edey’s my favorite center in this draft given our team right now. I think he can play actual minutes and allow AD to play PF in some moments. Like Austin Reaves said today, a piece they’re missing is a big center to allow AD to focus on offense more in late game situations.
He’s 22. His ceiling is not as high as others mocked 10-20… but his game is more NBA ready imo. I really hope his name gets called for us tomorrow but when do I ever get what I want? It’ll probably be a pick no one sees coming.

People are so delusional about getting a scorer or a stretch whatever at 17 and expect them to be NBA ready. You can find scorers from trades or a free agent. In Edey, you get an instant rim protector and rebounder, that’s what the Lakers need. You can’t teach size. Everyone else, you gotta develop.

Might as well be him, though I’d argue that ESPN didn’t watch the Redick press conference, because if they did and heard what JJ is planning to do with AD at center, they might conclude that Edey is a bad fit for the offense they’re going to run.
