fwiw, it’s nice to have an FO that’s as obsessed about the rockets’ future as the fans are.

this isn’t a chicago bulls situation where the ownership is looking at ticket sales as the fans helplessly stare at a middling team.

the entire organization is doing its best to win. i like that.

we all have our own opinions on strategy — how do we *get* there — but i love the enthusiasm from the org and tbh what more could we hope for?

everybody just wants to fucking win. even with morey we were gunning for those warrior mfs when every other team was scared and reloading.

the most exciting times to be a fan is on the come-up so i hope we can all find a little joy in the chaos. shit is good rn

Rockets are playing the long game to pull in Booker. Seems like a solid deal. I’m sure Booker would be interested in playing on a young Rockets team if the core develops.

Yeah but neither Green or Sengun is a really a #1 option for a real contender and we just gave up a real chance to get the next best big prospect for a question mark scenario?

This reeks of a GM who’s afraid to be unemployed in a couple years.

ol Ben can always be counted on to tell us why whatever the Rockets have done, no matter what it is, is actually for the best.

The key thing people are missing is the 2nd point.

The Rockets directly and indirectly improved the value of the Nets 2027 pick.

A lot of people have completely misunderstood the Brooklyn Net’s pick value because they (or the Rockets) got incredibly luck and jumped from 9th to 3rd pick. The odds of the Nets getting a top 4 pick is only 20%.

The Nets were not going to trade away Bridges without getting their own picks back, and are in prime position to sign quality free agents that will ensure they remain “competitive enough”. That means the Rockets realistically could just end up with Nets picks in the 9-14th spot for the next few years.

The Rockets gave the Nets a 2 year window to tank, that means the Nets, in order to maximise these two years, must find a way to really suck. However, they must also attempt to right the ship by 2027, otherwise they give up a very very high quality swap to the Rockets.

    So the question now is:

    1. Would you rather have 3 years of Nets’ pick capital, where the Nets are likely going to be a 9-11th seed team.
    2. A Net’s pick coming off of 2 consecutive tanking seasons, in addition to 2 additional picks from Phoenix where their future outlook is incredibly bleak.

I don’t get it. You got the exact outcome you wanted with the nets, they were locked onto a mid player AND they were trash.

And you just let them off the hook on the hope that the sun’s will be in the position that the nets currently are in.

For what? So you can chase booker/KD? You just watched that duo lose in four to the wests third best team.  You could get Booker AND KD and you’d be a five seed and lose in round two.

  7. We’re in a great position to develop now and be a 45-50 win team this season without any major moves, but we’re also building up a hell of a war chest for future trade scenarios when the next superstar player becomes available.

I love this team right now, the future is bright, believe in Stone.

The best part about this is when the PHX firesale happens and they trade KD and Booker somewhere else, Rox can prob go to PHX and get even more picks by giving PHX some of their picks back.
