The Rockets are looking for ‘FAST TURNOVER!’ – Windy on Houston’s interest in Kevin Durant | Get Up

Bridges yesterday they made another interesting move with the Rockets here’s a tweet from W Brooklyn has a deal with Houston to return the Nets 2026 first round pick for a 2027 son’s first round pick Rockets also acquired 2025 right to swap a first for a son’s first round pick Wendy right now read the tea leaves what does this trade mean okay if we hadn’t have just seen the first trade between the Knicks and Nets in 40 years this would have been one of the most fascinating trades of the year because think about this the Nets have just announced to the world that they are in an extreme tank by the way they’re not done trading they’re going to trade away more Talent okay the Houston Rockets own the full draft rights for the Nets for the next two years which by the way are both expected to be excellent drafts particularly next year you now have that if you’re Houston what you should be doing is ordering champagne and saying we knew that Harden trade wasn’t going to work we got him just like the Celtics got him back when they did that big deal but they didn’t they didn’t Ryan yeah instead they make a deal to give those next two picks back to the Nets to get Phoenix Suns picks they didn’t do this in January they didn’t do it next year at the lottery when they saw where the draft was they did it now for for Phoenix Sun stuff now and that is that is what w and other people have talked about it is because they are interested in tempting the Suns to to try to trade them Kevin Durant now they don’t want to do this later they want to put this on the table to see if the Suns will be tempted by it now Matt ishia the owner of the Suns has been out there on the record saying we are bringing this back we want to see these three stars healthy Durant to my knowledge has not asked for a trade to Houston or anywhere else Booker is fully invested in the Suns but this move is bait it is bait to the Suns to reconsider and one thing I want to point out watch what the Rockets do tonight with a number three pick this is one of the most important moments of the draft and in many cases is where the draft kind of starts if the Rockets take Donovan kingan out of Yukon another Center which is an option for them and now have a bunch of centers on their roster that would potentially enable them to make alaran shenon their very talented young Turkish Center available in that Ty in that type of trade to dangle in front of the Suns the Rockets are full go to improve dramatically now yes they can offer this in the future but now and that’s why they did this deal now Bobby crunch the numbers for us how do the Rockets acquire KD yeah I mean Houston as Wendy says has the contracts to go out and do a deal certainly you remove Fred vanet from the equation here but when you look at a player like sangon still in the last year of his rookie contract Jaylen green is extension eligible also so those are your two nice young players and then certainly Steven Adams and Jeff Green and Jo Lando you start stacking up the contracts to get within that 125% of that Kevin Durant number there challenge comes as far as building the roster if a deal comes as far as what’s left of that roster in Houston but they’ve got the draft Equity they’ve got the young players to go out and to do a deal if Durant ever did become available CJ the Suns just got Bradley Bill to add to Booker to add to KD so they already be bailing on their big three I don’t necessarily think you should bail on it but I think you should explore our options understanding where they’re at as a franchise um you would like to see them be healthy throughout an entire season you like to see them be healthy into the playoffs obviously they didn’t have the type of success that they were looking for but as we continue to go into the future it is tough to have three guys making $50 million a year on a team it’s tough to build around it but if you are going to do it this is the this is the trio that can get it done but I think you do consider all options you look at ad where he’s at in his career how successful he’s been throughout how sharp he still is and what you could probably get for a guy like him you look at book he’s still the pillar he’s still the young face of the organization you look at Bradley Bill and if you are going to move someone from a value standpoint you are going to get the most value for Booker or Durant based on where they’re both at in their careers but I think it’s something you explore and you look at but if I was the ownership group I would probably try to run it back one more time because you want to see if you can roll the dice on health and star power okay are you going to convince me that trading Durant right now is a good idea I’m going to try my best because Ryan when you look at it you got a contract you have a contract situation with three guys that make gobs of money right you’re GNA run into issues there that we already looked at this roster this year and said it wasn’t built particularly well in terms of The Supporting Cast around them one of those three guys has struggled with injuries the last probably three seasons of his career and these guys as a collective played less than 40 games together right the biggest piece that you have to move to CJ’s point is either book or KD and book’s not going anywhere so you have to explore this listen we have of we keep doing this thing where we put these guys together and they’re sort of in their late Prime and we see all this Firepower as if the landscape of the league is not shifting with young guys even if they run it back your window is maybe one more year like how where is your mindset is this team as constructed a legitimate threat for a championship next year and I based on what we’ve seen do not think so so yes I’m starting to look toward the future Wendy if if H think can keep the right pieces how good does adding KD make this team good question it it you know in the Western Conference where they are have such competition it’s hard to really say they certainly wouldn’t be a top three Contender but here’s the thing after March 1st last year they went 16- seven down the stretch of the season they had a really good stretch of of defense and a lot of that happened without imparing shenon he only played five games due to injury out of that last 23 I think the Rockets liked what they saw and they think that if they can add Rocket Fuel so to speak from Durant that they can get up there into that top six and they have been clear from the top of their organization owner Tillman fatita he does not want a six-year rebuild he was looking for a fast turnover when they traded James Harden and that’s what this would help them do they’d be potentially right back in the playoffs after a quick turn and they certainly want to do this they also acquired extra picks and extra swaps here that they could use in other deals it doesn’t just have to be with the U with the Suns but they could have used those Nets picks with other teams because those Nets picks were awfully valuable [Music]

  1. You're not winning with KD unless you're the GSW. That's just facts. I'd rather trade for LeBron. He translates more to winning than KD

  2. This draft sucks though. Who would trade one of these shitty players for a KD. This draft sucks….

  3. It doesn’t make sense at all. To trade for Durant and there are thinking of trading sengun. It would not be smart by the rockets. But if they are willing to give up their 3 pick this year think they shoud find a way to get Paul George.

  4. Telling you right now, they aren’t trading for Durant. They’re waiting for the suns rebuild and want those picks during that tenure

  5. Sengun for KD isn't ideal for the Rockets, but if you watched the Rockets this season you'd see that it's a possibility.
