what would you like to see Atlanta do tonight trade the number one pick deal either deante or Trey or try to make the pick and try to see if all three can take them to the next level I think the Hawks had a point right now that they need to try to move both Trey young and de jonte Murray and start fresh I mean they tried it they’ve been trying with Trey young for the longest yes he got them to the Eastern Conference Finals one time but at the end of the day I don’t feel like those two are going to lead this team to where they’re trying to go why not rebuild you got a new uh head coach and Quinn Snider who’s been there for a year go fresh okay let’s pivot to the team that had the first pick last year that is the San Antonio Spurs how can San Antonio best build around wimy Austin by making selections with the fourth and eighth picks or to package them to move up and get another yeah listen we talk about the Spurs they need upgrades at every position on their team other than what Victor is right so I don’t think they have to go into this draft trying to find a point guard or find this position I think you find best player available whatever’s the best player available you him out there with Victor and then you figure it out from there I don’t think you have to go by Design with guards just find who’s best available okay so possibly the team with the biggest question marks heading into tonight is Houston our draft Guru Jonathan gavone has reported the number three pick has been in trade talks since the lottery CJ should the Rockets continue to add top in youth or try to move and pick a win now player I think they should try to get a win now player historically the Houston Rockets have favorite winning since the Harden trade they’ve obviously brought in Fred Van Fleet they brought in Dylan Brooks there’s rumors about a special player out there who would fit in well with a lot of what they had but I think for them with ma winning is a priority they’re young they’re talented Jaylen green is getting better Jabari Smith is getting better they need one more piece to kind of take them over the hump from borderline playoffs to being in the playoffs all right so after yesterday’s deal with the Nets the Rockets now have seven first round picks available to trade including the sun’s unprotected 2027 first rounder and the two most favorable of the Mavs Sun and Rockets first round picks in 2029 which seems like a long time from now W I’m going to start with you on this one uh let’s start with Houston what exactly does it mean because now they have an inside track really to get ke Kevin Durant or Deon Booker so what does this mean for Houston specifically well if if you’re the Suns and you decide that you want to move off of either of those players in the coming years uh you want to get your picks back if you’re going to not be good in 27 29 if this run is over you don’t want to be a Lottery team and have somebody else selecting your players that’s why Brooklyn was trying to get their picks back and so but those Suns picks have value all over the league so there may be other trades that the Rockets want to do um teams are going to be betting by the latter part of this decade with the age of this Sun’s team with the lack of an infrastructure around their three key three key players that it’s going to be hard to sustain this and they have traded so many picks in Phoenix it’s going to be hard to replenish um that there’s going to be a dark period there at some point so the picks have value and that’s what the Rockets are doing certainly uh whether it’s Kevin Durant who’s certainly an older player Devin Booker fits better into their timeline and the group you have with the Rockets what the Suns want to try to do now is give this team a chance under Mike buen holer see who they are next year but we know how this league works if something’s not working players sometimes dictate it the team dictates it um especially with a group with the age of this team um they’re probably not going to get many more cracks to keep this group together as is uh perk I want to ask you this the potential of KD or book being in Houston do you like that idea well it’s not going to happen not this year it’s definitely not going to happen and I got confirmed I got confirmation from my sources that they have no plans whatsoever not today not right now not we don’t know what’s going to happen in the allstar break or we don’t know what’s going to happen at the end of the season but before us come going into this season they don’t plan on trading Kevin Durant they don’t plan on trading Devin Booker they don’t plan on trading Bradley Bill not this season at all and Kevin Durant has not asked him for a trade matter of fact Kevin Durant is about to be on his way with Devin Booker to go play and represent our country at the end of the day they’re like Wes just said they’re seeing how they how they’re going to work under Mike boen hoser everyone in the phix Suns organization have a a fresh mindset and they’re coming into training camp with a clean mindset of saying how can these three work when they’re healthy under this new coach and that’s the great thing about having these picks 2027 2029 they don’t have to make a decision in Houston about these but now they have them these are great assets to have obviously the expectation in Phoenix they didn’t live up to that expectation we expected them to do a lot more out there CJ uh do you agree with the fact that all like perk just said all of those guys could remain and still have another crack at it absolutely they weren’t healthy throughout the entire year and this league is all about health you look at the new Pelicans know Zion getting hurt you look at the the Philadelphia 76ers joeb you look at the Bucks Giannis getting hurt Health matters obviously Bradley Bill has been hurt at times throughout the his career but a healthy KD a healthy Devin Booker gives you a chance to win a championship and I think you have to give it another crack especially bringing in a new head coach especially bringing in some potential role players obviously you have a pick in this year’s draft that’s late first round you can get a score you can get a potential point guard someone to ease the load on your star players but you do have three players making over $50 million a year and at some point you have to win a championship or else change could come but I don’t think it comes this summer yeah when you always look at what moves a team can make I always like to look at the top let’s start at the top Matt isia had a press conference and said we are not that far away yeah he told you right then and there that he believes that they’re close so they have no you know I don’t I don’t think when we talk about the Phoenix Suns they didn’t have a summer to to to mesh they didn’t have a training camp a full training camp where these guys were all fully healthy the entire season it was always up and down with these guys one would come back one would go down and then they tried to make it work in the playoffs and really just didn’t have that chemistry if they can add a couple solid pieces this summer around those three as the nucleus with the new head coach is Bud is he is an offensive genius I think KD will actually benefit being with him and not being in the corner as much and all these different things I think the Suns could have a crack at it and I think they’re going to go for it this year they had 49 wins last year like real not being healthy yeah 49 wins in the easta put you at the number three spot right of course they in the Western Conference maybe uh coach bud can unlock KD like no other team has been able to do [Music] [Applause] [Music]
