Great call. I was one of the camp that thought this had no shot in hell of happening as a direct trade because of inter-city issues. Like I thought at least one other team would have to get involved.

Like the trade, but Bridges is not an elite defender or that great of a ball mover. 3.6 assist to 2.0 turnovers per game isn’t great. And his on-off defensive metrics are pretty average. In the last three seasons, teams shoot basically just as effectively with him on the court than when he’s off the court, both with Brooklyn and with Phoenix.
I think he improves in all aspects under Thibs and in this system, but I think it’s important to temper expectations, so that we’re not setting him up for failure. He’s more a final piece of the puzzle than a legit superstar like Brunson.

You and me both, we had the exact same thinking. I couldn’t believe so many hated it they were either anti bridges or didn’t think he was worth overpaying for (which we would have needed to do and clearly we did). I made a prediction post about it before it happened too ahahha we gotta get in the front office
