back here on CBS Sports HQ presented by Jeep another Frenchman Tan Salon drafted in the first round headed to the Charlotte Hornets at 6 overall 6’9 212 lb forward who turns 19 in August played professional basketball in the top league in France long athletic forward you can see here with a budding skill set and with his pick in the top 10 here it’s the first time the NBA draft in history that three French players are drafted in the first round in the same season Three French French players going in the top six uh one of our news uh writers upstairs was eating french toast he clearly knew it was going on three Frenchmen drafted in the top six here shouts to Justin and I was having french fries so we’re in a good place there you go yeah you’re you’re gr for this tan salon sixth overall this is going to surprise some people but I like it tajon Salon is 18 years old he’s got a terrific build a super high motor and he’s got shooting potential on top of it and a 7 foot2 wingspan I’m going B+ especially on a Charlotte team they have two gaping holes when you look at their young players at the two and at the four they’ve got their Forman of the future and they had the courage to be a little contrarian here and go after the guy that they that that seems like it’s a little higher than he should go be plus all right yeah it’s a little higher than I projected and most projected him to go but it’s not nonsensical he is just 18 years old that’s a positive he is 6’9 with a 7172 wingspan that’s a positive good athlete uh great defensive potential the the question is about the shooting that was around 30% this season but you know it if he can turn into a stretch four and and there is some um positive stuff to make you think he can be a reliable shooter as he ages and develops then then you really got the the prototypical stretch four um that you want in your front court but the shooting has to improve again he’s only 18 years old yeah with Charlotte you’re thinking this is basically a three-year project you know this kid’s not ready to come in physically and contribute especially to play Big minutes now Brandon Miller that’s another story this kid it’s turned out to be an outstanding player uh in his rookie season uh uh First Team all NBA rookie team out of Alabama but when I look at Salam I’m thinking about a guy like Dorian finny Smith down the road but he needs to mature he has that same type of intensity but he’s long he’s athletic and um I I think you again when you look at lamelo ball what guys can run on that fast break throw the L uh he he fits that profile
