Daron Holmes II Selected No. 22 Overall by Phoenix Suns | 2024 NBA Draft Grades | CBS Sports

I mean Don Holmes the second is phenomenal the return of the big man and donon Holmes’s decision to return to Dayton and then take his game to new levels when he declared for the draft last year he was a skinny athletic big and considered a non-shooter he goes back to dayt and he dedicates himself to developing his perimeter skill set and then he has multiple games where he knocks down three threes in the game so now there is a much more versatile role for him in the modern-day NBA and when you’re Denver listen it it was was a poorly kept secret that Denver had liked him promised him whatever you want to say uh Phoenix is in a good spot here because they need to build out their Supporting Cast they were considered a big trade uh on the trade watch all week long and now both teams get what they wanted Phoenix gets to pick up an extra asset Denver gets a versatile big man we can just hope that the guy Calvin Booth likes Mike Malone likes to and he’ll play him this year you know as uh you know somebody who works at CBS Sports Network and is in studio every Tuesday and Wednesday night I don’t know that anybody’s talk on TV about Don Holmes more than I have over the past few years he was the rare top 100 recruit at a high school who goes to a A10 school then you know he is pretty good pretty quickly bigger schools start coming he stays loyal to Dayton and really develops as an undeniable NBA Prospect primarily because he went as think said from a non-shooter to somebody who shot nearly 40% from three-point range in this season while earning A10 Player of the Year honors it had been like think said a a poorly kept secret in Indy circles that Denver really liked him and there was some thought that they even had promised him at 28 what this tells me is they didn’t think they could wait till 28 that he was going to be off the board uh before they were on the clock so they move up to 22 they get the guy they want and then with Phoenix makes sense for exactly why you said they’ve got so much money tied up in Kevin Durant and Devin Booker and Bradley Bill they’ve got to fill out a roster with not just uh you know players but inexpensive players you know where you find them in the second round of drafts

The CBS Sports HQ crew give their grade for the Phoenix Suns selecting Daron Holmes II in the 2024 NBA Draft.

  1. Sono grato per l'opportunità di interagire con un gruppo così eterogeneo di individui. Ha ampliato la mia prospettiva in modi che non avrei mai immaginato.💋

  2. Interesting pick. He can do some things off the bench that emulate Jokic with the center handing the ball off, and he gives Zeke the move to PF which is more natural for his finess game.

  3. Great pick. We just need to sign a veteran defensive wing for the bench, move braun to starting SG when KCP leaves and we good to go.

  4. THANK YOU. I’ve been saying they NEED someone off the bench that can give Jokic rests when he needs. 47 minute games is absurd, someone who can put up 8-12 points & get 4-8 boards maybe 1-2 blocks here & there is a something they most definitely need.
