When I first started following this team, the draft was the highlight of the year. The outcome of not being a trainwreck franchise is that it’s been a total non event for most of the past 2 decades. Notable lottery picks: Livingston, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffin, SGA (technically a trade). The Aminu pick was a huge fuck up, but that’s the only other time we were in a position to get significantly better via the draft. Other bad lottery picks like Korolev, Thornton, and Jerome were late enough in the draft that we weren’t expecting to draft an impact player anyway.

After years and years of drafting useless busts like Kabengele, Daniel Oturu, Jason Preston, and Diabate, it’s hard to get excited at all for draft day here. Not to mention our best talent evaluator is no longer with us.
